Any level of support is welcomed and appreciated. The Honda XR650R as well as the XR650L were known to have weak peg mounts. As you saw in Episode 11 of Baja diaries I snapped the peg off my xr650r. So I took it to the XR specialist....... Bob Bell at Precision Concepts

So “if” my XR650r hasn’t needed this peg fix yet.
I need to up my game and start riding WFO. I’m on it.
As always your info is helpful. Thanks 😎

Just remember whenever you strengthen a weak point, then it just moves on to the next week point. Replacing a foot peg is a lot cheaper than fixing a broken frame. Give Honda some credit I think they designed it like that for a reason.

Good fix.....but you can forgive the mighty XR650R the odd fault when it's such a brilliant bike! Looking forward to the next Baja Diaries trip....Steve

I need to do this fix. I snapped mine twice (there's a good video of my Wipeout because of it on my channel). I rethreaded and upgraded the bolts but it still happened again. Need to do this for a permanent fix.

I looked on their website under xr parts and didnt see anything but choke plates. Do they still offer this for sale? Im 220lbs so i know its only a matter of time before i break a peg.

Hi, I am about to install a halogen lighting setup very similar to yours, on my honda xr. I'm not an electrical guru by any means, and I am just curious how yours is setup? What components are leading up to your headlight? Just curious. I went with the bd halogens because I love the look. Call me a kid!

I’m not an electrical expert as well but reaching out to Baja designs would be a good move

anyone know if an xr650l would have the same weakness?

Not sure. But you have to realize this is when you’re riding the bike under stress for continuous situations. The L Should be OK if it’s just kept on the road most of the time

Use a Grade 10 Bolt!! That will Never Break!!

Until they break! I have been using these for years and always have spares in my pack. And Yes there are way stronger then stock, but they still break! I just might have to try this upgrade:)

PS. in metric it is a 12.9 grade which has a tensile strength of 1220, 10.9 has a tensile strength of 1040, The 10.9 bends and then is a pain in the ass to take out, the 12.9 last longer but brakes off with out warning!

That is why the manual says max weight 220lbs. I guess I am doomed!!
