Cool to get your take, Mike. I just finished the script on my video yesterday. I think we're coming at it from different directions, but mostly meet in the middle. I'm really impressed by the fundaments, which IMO is what the Early Access is there to show - not too fussed about the missing features, which they'll add in time. AI is a mess, of course. I still recall the absolute abomination that was ACC EA 1, and look what that eventually turned into. Kunos will come through.
@@Ermz What makes me wonder is, with all the experience Kunos gained with developping AC ( still running higher usernumvers than ACC on Steam ) and the very successful ACC they seem to start with Evo all over again. For the time span they work on this project, I would have expected at least some more tracks and cars. I.e. why not porting over some more AC Open wheelers or maybe the GT 4, Super Tropheo or Ferrari challenge cars as teasers for the race fans...Why 10 slightly different versions of a Porsche or Alfa Romeo which practically offer no different experiences. What's so difficult in porting over working graphics , Even my old Raceroom has better graphics in driving on my RTX2070 ( 4 years old ) than Evo allows for without breakdown in FPS ? So, I mean we are talking just basics, not even about race AI, full sets of tracks, let alone the wealth of Kunos cars AC offers for instance. Also, in modern times like today, Kunos could have tried to get some help from really pro- modders, such as RSS, ASR, Guerilla, VRC and some other well known studios. These guys know how to bring a ton of fun and very convincing physics to the track.
@@stefan-georgfuchs9618 The reason it has been in development for so long is because they have been developing a completely new engine from scratch. And building a current generation graphics engine does indeed take a very long time. All the tracks and cars need to be updated too so you can't just port over some old content as is.
For me the main thing is that even with it being basically just a hot lap sim currently I'm already completely hooked to driving EVO. Currently I have this weird thing where despite really liking sim racing, I don't really enjoy driving any of the current sims. But EVO has been really refreshing, it feels natural and I always feel like I know what the car is doing. So I'm really excited to see it develop and get fleshed out.
Alpha game with low optimization, 0.13 atm, not even in beta. This game will be better in 1 year time, i don´t think it will even be polished at launch. I remember how ACC did, hell even AC1 at launch. My expectations are Summer of 2026 will be the time that we will see it going good and stable.
I agree with the points made in this video. For me, the two biggest disappointments is: 1) As mentioned, the online requirement. I get that Kunos didn't want to divulge this in fear of risking some unit purchases, but I think they should have been upfront about it. It would have added that credible "feather of transparency in their cap" so to speak. People are spending hard earned money for this. They deserve to know what they are fully getting into. 2) The other thing is the AI. If we are basically being forced to drive single player (which we are), I think the AI needs to be spit-shined and polished. I really enjoy the AI in ACC. Not sure why it couldn't be a starting point for ACE (might be much easier said than done), but in this case, I think they should have kept ACE for at least a few more months (if not till summer) and release with a much stronger user experience. Having said all this, I do like the direction of the FFB/tire physics... while not perfect, I prefer it to AC and ACC. And graphically, on my RTX 4090 PC, this thing looks beautiful. Overall, I have full faith Kunos will ultimately deliver.. but yeah, perhaps released a tad prematurely. Not sure if they are to blame, or did 505 Games / Digital Bros force this out the door for immediate revenue to continue funding development.. No idea.
I just hate how the big triple A studios have used the 'Early Access' as an excuse to release buggy, but full games. Meanwhile actual early access titles, like EVO, get criticized for the lack of content and unfinished product. I mean this is literally what an early access title 'should' look like. I couldn't care less about car rentals, customizations or driving schools. I'm here to drive the cars and that part works so much better than what I expected that for me the early access has been a huge success. I mean, I'm probably not going to play it too much until later in the year, but this gave me just enough of a sneak peek to get me excited for what's to come and make me feel good about funding their development work through the early access purchase. If you can't tell, I'm an ACC driver looking for race cars and competition. If you're more of a GT player then your expectations will certainly be different.
Nah that's definitely not how it "should look". Promised content has to be there otherwise it's a scam straight up. Imagine buying a car and you realize after the purchase the engine is missing. No matter how small the content is as long as they honestly tell you what's in the game it's fine
It's unacceptable because they already have plenty of experience. If this was their first game then I could understand but they've had YEARS worth of data to pull from. It would be like going into graduate school and barely being able to write a 4 page paper. Even at ones worst they should be able to do that with ease by this time in their development. This is basic fundamentals that are scuffed.
@@TheKing-vb2bw I'm not sure how much you play other games, but connectivity issues are the most common issue even with big tripple A titles during launch and they are really difficult to simulate without live environment. As far as I know, the issue with EVO is not that these features were not finished. The issue was that they require Internet connectivity which did not work on launch. So while you are entitled to your opinion, I see nothing out of the ordinary here and especially nothing intentional.
Performance and AI are a disappointment. I had to dial down the settings to get decent frame rates. I hadn't realized that most of the content would be tied to online mode, and frankly, that's terrible if true.
If I'm able to play this on low settings with doing some hotlapping/practicing or a race with a few more cars on a 4th gen i5, i'll be a happy camper. If not well, AC with pure and csp will be my go to sim.
I downloaded and deleted and re-installed 3 times before I could sync my Moza 5. Some teething pains, but I was able to race on the 3rd go-round. Graphics are WOW! Race felt good...practice, Practice, PRACTICE. Thanks Mike!
I must be one of the only ones who loves getting something super early then watching it evolve, and all of the annoying bugs disappear and features get added. Keeps it fresh for longer.
100% agree, less is more with early access. Get the basics in place so we can gauge the experience rather then trying for for numerous features that are not core. That would be my personal preference.
I am 100% agree with you. This presentation was like from my own mouth 😀 Im not worried. Not even a bit. Just wait and see. It may take time but eventualy this will be good, very good
That is some crazy popins and artifacting....? Your running 3 screens of a RX 6800 XT? (Im guessing you have put the grafix way down and boosting with FSR?)
Mike, I agree with you 99 percent of the time. However, this is the 1 percent. I have a very high end system, vr, and motion rig. All things considered, on my system the game runs and looks very good for early access. On my monitor, well above 150 fps and looks good. In vr, low to medium settings, I get 80+ and it runs decent. Much better than ACC. My disagreement with you is that I do not think they gave us too much too 15:06 soon. I feel they had to price the sim as they did, no way could they have had this price for one track and one car no matter how good it was. Nobody would pay that for such little content in early access. And I feel they had to release the sim now to generate funds to continue, as development is long and costly. No money, no future. Hopefully they will continue to make quick fixes and deliver the sim we all expect. It drives great. To me, that is what counts at this stage. With all that said, I too have concerns and you gave us and the developer a lot to digest.
This sim will eventually be great as the fundamentals are already great. As for frame rates and shadows and the graphics part of it, it runs perfectly on mine which is also a 4070 ti, and settings are cranked up and I still get 120FPS and then some. I must say people have a habit of focusing on what the game does NOT have yet, so ... some patience is required for early access.
Whenever I feel good about my life (currently 71 years old) I want to reach for this game to bring me down like a lead balloon, sure its early access and sure it’s KUNOS, but for $31.99. I expected just a little more. Don’t take this the wrong way, I own all KUNOS products and the mods if any that can be used with them. Your review is CORRECT, this was not only pulled from the oven early, but was missing ingredients as well. Sorry KUNOS.
It's true. The game has not that much to offer content wise in the Early Access version. But the driving model is really great and an improvement to the already good AC of 2014. The physics are really great and I guess it will become even better over time. I had a lot of fun in the last days and can't wait for the final version to be released. This will be a fun simulator for years to come. These guys at Kunos know how to nail things. Love 'em!
I purchased Kunos AC Evo EA more out of curiosity than of need. I own , and "drive" daily one of my other sims (AMS,AMS2,AC, ACC, rf2, LMU and R3R)...I have the most hours (360 or so ) in ACC, with AC and AMS2 following close behind. And I drove GT Legends as well as GTR2 for many years. So I wondered what kind of groundbraking new Sim Adventure Kunos might have produced. Here my System specs : win 11, Ryzen 9 3900X , RTX 2070 Super 16 GB, 43" curved UWD Monitor, CSL DD 8Nm, T-LCM Loadcell-Pedals "tuned". For all Sims mentioned above, the system is working very well. I can run 90 cars mixed grid in R3R on NordS ( to replicate VLN / 24H races ). I do 95% solo racing against AI. Mostly 95%-100% depending on Sim, Car/Competition and track. Eachvof the sims has their own strengths & weaknesses and I have no real favourite per se...but let's say for GT 4 and 3 , I like ACC most. For anything historical open wheels I like AMS2 , mainly for their great historical tracks ( incl. SuedS of Nuerburgring...very rare in Sims ) and the Formula Classics (80ties, 90ties, 2000s). 24H NordS is great in R3R as it's the only Sim which can handle 90+Cars of 5 or 6 different classes on NordS,..all in correct liveries. FFb wise, S397 products are still unmatched, however LMU is very limited in choice of cars and tracks and rf2 is...well rf2....no further development since LMU is out. Cars and tracks are hit or miss. Most rf2 mods seem to have been abandoned...which brings me to AC...(CSP) lots of joy with kunos cars and tracks, some very good ( also pay for ) mods out there ( RSS, looking at you guys 😉) lot of crap or abandoned stuff as well...but still very active community and CSP constantly updated...still good physics, ffb and graphics ( thanks to SOL). Now on to AC Evo...OF COURSE IT'S EA...but WHY is graphics soooo demanding while delivering practically nothing over what ACC does already ? Cars in the Garage look great even on medium settings, but on the track in racing speed, deactivated motion blur settings and highest video-pool settings, graphics are...dissappointing. Physics : well i've driven Rally cars , motorbikes and my corvette as well as my Toyota Supra on the NordS and the GP track. The small Toyota GR86 in Evo feels close to my old Supra. The Escort in Evo is also close to the real thing as far as a sim allows that. For all other cars I can only compare them to same cars in other Sims. The AMG GT2 is a bit more defined than in ACC. But unfortunately, ther's not a single real race car in Evo to compare to other sims. The Porsches in Evo are at best Cup versions...they drive fairly tame in Evo compared to their Cup version brethren in AC, ACC and more so in rf2...to draw a preliminary conclusion for me personally : I don't feel any urgency to push any further with Evo as it is not really more interesting to me then any of my other sims. As long as there are no real race cars in Evo, I'll keep this on the virtual shelf...take my 30 EUR as support for Kunos 😂
I have been waiting for your comments 😀 Great video thanks. I have 2 sim rigs, a RTX 2070S i7 with triple monitors which runs AMS2 and AC1 + mods beautifully at 60fps+ and an RTX 4070ti running a 4k 60Hz ViewSonic projector on a 150 inch image on a wall. This second PC runs every sim great (obviously). So, as it now turns out, my first week's feelings about EVO have been too much influenced by its UNOPTIMIZED performance leaving me very disappointed. This morning I finally twigged how I should have been looking at EVO in Early Access. I setup my RTX 4070ti PC to run at 1080p (something I have never had to do before on either PC). I then set all the graphics to ULTRA plus. This meant that I could get decent fps and great graphics and race 20 cars for the FIRST time in the Sim. This enabled me to evaluate it in a sensible way and compare the physics and ffb etc with AMS2 and AC1. I now have a more positive and sensible feeling. As long as they do optimize at some point EVO is going to be great for me as long as I can be offline without losing content locked behind online.
Your review is never too late Mike. It has been an overly hyped launch of the early access anyway. Didn’t bother to get the ea offering. Why bother now? New experience? Breakthrough physics? C’mon! 😊For me, better to wait until Kunos completely walk the talk and fully pay instead for a complete game more or less . Besides, got the still awesome AC, ACC, AMS2, LMU etc. etc. to waste my time on! 😂
I rarely participate in Early Access periods, no matter the game. To me, AC Evo might as well not exist until it's full launch. I hope they get the feedback and support they need but I'm spoiled on sim racing content for the foreseeable future. I still have to do Super Tourers in R3E, IMSA in AMS2, finish my '69 season in P&G, mess around with the Wheelen Modified mod for NR2003. I'm booked till December.
i brought ac1 5 years after is was released with all the dlc's for £29.99 from humble bundle, then got into the modded side of ac, havent played vanillia ac its the modding commuinty that kept that game alive for so long. i wont be giving up my fat alfie tracks untill ACE is properly sorted out.
I bought it. I'm having a good time with it so far. Yes, its a bit buggy/temperamental, and the UI is clumsy and not at all intuitive. And, I have a lot of confidence in Kunos, based on my experience with AC, and ACC. Rolling wave releases are the software industry standard, and Kunos has a successful history of incremental and continuous improvement with every release. I'm looking forward to seeing how this unfolds and enjoying each release for what it is.
I agree, Mike. I don’t think ‘Early Access’ is spelt out clearly enough. It is in an alpha phase, not yet in beta. Is it too soon to release? In my opinion, they are shooting themselves in the foot. I love it much more than ACC was at early access, which wouldn’t even run on my PC at the time. Nonetheless, I feel it is just too rough around the edges for public consumption.
A lot of the disappointed people missed reading the notes for early access which were available BEFORE it was made available for purchase and instead thought the details of v1.0 were what they were getting on 16th January. I think Mike had his rose-tinted-spectacles on, too. The red-flag noted about online-only was a good point, though.
I know Kunos will deliver, I agree 100%, this was a little early. VR is not working for me. I decided to wait for the next major launch, 3 or 4 months. I've been waiting for your review Mike, thanks so much!
It's a rather cool game, I did a short review on this game on my channel, have to say I loved the game, but yeah being it Early Access there are some things that need work on.
I can see the potential but it’s almost unplayable for me in its current build. Customisation and swapping parts is not really my thing and seems like something you add later after getting the foundations correct.
The potentials are huge. We know now the driving fundamentals are top class and that is the hardest thing to get right in simracing. Bugs, content? That is easy peasy work in development. Now we just have to be patient and let it cook!
Absolutely and to keep people from modifying game files to change things such as drivers licenses, reputation/exp, cash to keep it the same experience for everyone, no cheating. Also, everything is encrypted which prevent modding at this time, and it makes perfect sense (it is early access after all). Will it prevent them from allowing mods? Absolutely not, they will be free to release the SDK and keep everything encrypted and rely on more experienced add-ons makers, which will make the curation process less overwhelming. I think of it like Flight Simulator 2020 where the game depends on third party add-ons to succeed and bring the quality up rather than down. Will they let you do whatever you want with the game? No… Will they let third party developers in on the game? They have to.
I agree with basically everything you said. But you said the AI is Okay, and IMO the AI is barely raceable, they keep pushing you out of the way and can't race each other without creating a mess. The general quality of the AI in this game is very original AC adjacent and has the same quirks and issues as original AC, ACC was better but not great.
Visually, ACE looks fantastic, and I'm sure once all the bugs are worked out it will drive amazing. Buttttt...I am so invested in AC w\ Content Manager w\ a ridiculous amount of tracks and cars and skins, that until mod support happens for ACE I'm sticking to AC.
1080p ultra with 4x msaa and get 58fps at the start on the 6th grid of 31 or 32cars(max car filed right now) at brands hatch, and after that it runs at about 120fps avg. 12700k(8 p-cores only), 7200c34 sticks and 6900xt gpu. Not that bad for an 2025 game.
Lots of bugs and things to improve yes…. No doubt they will be ironed out. The graphics are very good I think and I 100 percent agree on the driving. It drives fantastic. A+. It has huge potential I think.
At this point calling it worst performing driving sim is an understatement. I pray that AMD and nVidia can provide the driver updates that will give a needed FPS boost. My new hobby is looking for AMS 2 Custom FFB files that feel closer to the refreshing feeling of AC Evo. 😅 Lol.
The issue with the slimmed down approach is that it wouldn’t have justified the price they wanted to charge. The better choice (from their perspective) would have been to leave it in the oven a bit longer.
Got a 7900 XT and performance with that is also worse than I thought it would be. Especially the menus are being weird. Yes, there are several graphical glitches. Some suddenly appear and stay till you reload the game. But does it look bad? Hell now. I really don't get how people think it looks bad or outdated. What do they base their opinions on? What does look better or like the current standard to them? People are just being silly here. I did not have the chance to try ACE with my racing rig yet since it's out of service but at least with Controller it works ok and seems believable for now. There are details missing tho that I think should have been in at day 1. Like, is there really no smoke? Burnouts, breaking to hard etc... that looks weird when you got no smoke. Damage is also a bit disappointing. I don't remember if AC had a visual damage model and here it's probably a licensing issue with car manufacturers, but I crash full speed into something, the damage indicator shows red, car starts behaving damaged like it should but it still looks perfectly fine. Stuff like that always annoys me. And why the heck does almost no game simulate engine/water/oil temps correctly? Do shit that would fuck up any car hard and nothing happens here. This is a sim mostly for road cars I'd argue, so why is stuff like that not in?
Hey Mike! Followed you for a long time, I trust you enough and maybe a couple others but you're the only one I sent this to that I feel that would understand. I have some problems that I just tend to be quiet about because I feel overwhelmed... But I hope somebody else would have a similar take I will try to be brief... First of all I'm very optimistic and have been for EVO and I understand early access so I had very low expectations and I run really only VR, however... My problems compiled into a nightmare seemingly so I want to share them maybe to help somebody else or maybe somebody who can help me... Briefly I have an i-7 12th gen with a 3080 RTX (that may sound like I'm knowledgeable, I'm really not, I'm 63-year-old sim racer that has a very basic knowledge of the computer I'm okay unless I get in the weeds and then I have no sickle)... With this I can run iRacing, AMS 2, AC, ACC and any other racing SIM that I own in VR @ well over 60 frames up to 120 to 200+ frames on my monitor. When I first got EVO I realized I couldn't play VR and I'm like, okay, well I'm not surprised, I'll give them a chance on VR.. Tnen I'm like,I'll do the monitor, I don't do the monitor anymore but I'll do the monitor... I have a G9 I think it is the big 49-in curved monitor the first gen so it has a 240hz refresh rate... So then I find that I can't even run the menus so I'm not going to talk about before the initial fix this is after the first "fix". Then I can barely get like 20 frames on the monitor! And I play just enough to love the physics and hate the AI (which I'm surprised you weren't harshly critical over it's the worst AI I've ever played against in my IMHO including old stuff, at least in the early parts of the races...that is for another discussion)... So because of this I say that Evo caused me to ruin my system if not ruin, temporarily ruin. So now I to try and get better performance out of my system that I really shouldn't have to try to get considering everything else runs close to flawlessly for me. I do online research and start getting with the most trusted type people to tell me what to do and I find a couple one is the optimize windows and others to optimize my card, NVDIA (didn't really understand this at first but it was running EVO like 3% CPU and 96 TO 99% GPU. Now after running the things that I ran and tried to do backups and document even with that I went back and tried to fix that because after doing that now it won't even load up AMS 2, EVO, one of my other other sims and strangely, my Fanatec control panel...that usually run fine The other sims run well but not as good as before... Rebooted, restarted, updated, all that kind of stuff as much as I could and now it can't even play EVO, fortunately I can still play AC so I'm not throwing stuff against the wall... Anyway I know this is long if you finish this I appreciate it and you probably have a similar situation... I hope I'm not the only one with this situation just people let me know if you have any solutions or if this helps you I'm sure it won't help you but at least helps you to understand that you're not the only one! I'm not mad at KUNOS I understand what they've undertaken a colossal task to give us something great... And I'm very optimistic still no matter the problems I'm going through I know they will end up delivering us something amazing!
Turn off V-Sync (it makes the game stutters each time new information in loaded in VRAM for some odd reasons. For me it was each time the camera would change in replay mode the first few seconds of the new frames were laggy until I found out it was V-Sync causing it), turn on DLSS and make it at Performance mode, dial down your main graphics, don't turn on any WIP features such as WIP Shadows. In NVIDIA control panel make sure you select performance mode in 3D options rather than quality and turn off game mode for Windows, turn on Performance mode in power management. If you don't have a lot of RAM, it may be worth it to increase the paging file size just to see how it affects the game but preferably, you don't want your games to use virtual memory at all because it is too slow and will cause popping amongst other things. Tweak file paging size for the drive you have the sim installed on. Turn off file paging if still experiencing problems and turn it off especially if you have 64 GB of RAM since virtual memory (paging file/swap size) is way slower and definitely is too slow for ACE. Also, it sounds like the bottleneck you are experiencing is coming from your graphic card. If you have only an 8 GB card you need to upgrade to at least 12 GB to run this game because it is very hungry on VRAM and if you upgrade why not get a 16 GB card and future-proof a little bit your setup (you will have no problem selling your RTX 3080 if it is only 8 GB and get a 16 GB graphic card for minimal investment and if you are willing to make money go for a 12 GB 3060 and invest the money you made in more or better RAM). This game should not be able to use memory from your paging file as it is too slow even with a fast PCI NVMe drive and if you are running a hard drive or old gen SSD well forget about it. One thing draining down your graphic card is-are “Reflections” and ACE has a lot of them. You are better off disabling or at least running very minimal setup in the reflections' department. Same with shadows, at least until they are optimized. Sky or Clouds settings can go to low too. Basically anything that will give you the much-needed headroom you need because as of now, you got zero headroom. VR requires headroom.
I would consider myself a hardcore gamer and a sim racer. I have seen a lot of games of the not too distant passed that had horrible "FULL" launches and not considered "Early Access". I'm saying this to say that I wasn't expecting much. That said, It was a bit early. In Triples it runs like crap on my 13900k/Asus4090. Well looking forward, I guess it will be fun to check in from time to time and see and notice the difference of each patch. It actually made me appreciate AC1 and AMS2 that much more. At least with racing titles we have other things to play. I do like the way the FFB feels on my alpha U. Also notice Mike, at least for me, when you activate the triple screen, the DLSS takes off and ghosts us. I do hope it will help once fixed.
@@Racingfan101 what's fine for you? I was getting say 80 to 90fps with high preset running 4k triples the 1st night. Then I got both the 3 patches to date and seeing like 50 to 60fps. Changed preset to low, it changes nothing. Turned off triples and send the game to my gaming monitor and tried with the controller and I can lock it in single 4k with 144 butter smooth on high. Dlss isn't in the options and did see it on the 1st day. For comparison I run AC1 maxed out 140 easy, Iracing same, ams2 about 90fps with 40 car grid, much better with 12cars no dlss either cause ams2 doesn't have it. I'm sure it will get better. I felt reinvigorated to play AC1 now so that's OK. It's polished, pretty with mods and racing is racing. We got all the time to wait and see where Evo goes. I wanted the 5090, but now I want simagics active pedals instead.... If they could ever drop us a date soon that would be great.
The cars look like they are hovering above the track, and they look more realistic than the track despite already looking low quality themselves. i'm sure the gameplay is great "for a sim" but the graphics look kinda weak?
some judged this game 2-hours into the early access.. that is not fair.. like any sim, it needs years of fine tuning. and with the exponential complexity of modern games, it makes sense it will take more time than it did 10-15 years ago.. and this game was also another victim of overhyping, which never translates into anything.. with that said... if this game is going to be a closed, online-only, gran turismo style game.. im not really that interested. older sims will still be around and there is always something for everyone. the sim racing community in general needs to chill. there is a reason RBR is still the go-to rally sim..
Can not tell you how many times I have been "driven through" by the ai, been leading on the last lap and nailed by someone who wasn't even in the mirrors. I will however enjoy it more and more as it gets dialed in.
Not only poor performance but imo looks quite rough, at least in VR. In comparison to say AMS2 that looks way better & runs a twice the frame rate. I would of prefered less content but more solid game i guess there are different people working on different elements of the game.
@@nrosko I'am with you on that (Graphics) but less content then the rather minimalistic set of cars an tracks we already have makes no sense to me. For EA , which relies explicitely on user input for further development, I would have expected at least one or two open wheelers and one or two real race cars ( maybe older GT's from 2015/16 or so ) in order to give us EA testers to check the optiobs and state oc the sim under racing conditions. Driving around a race course in a daily driver is not really my thing, tbh. Even the F296 in it's private customer or dealership version is obviously wrong. The car is way too fast but has neither the suspension nor the tires necessary for maintaining this speed for more than a couple laps at Imola...I mean even the Cup cars in ACC do this better. Compared to the F296 IMSA in LMU which feels much more lively ( like a Ferrari should feel, I think ) , the ACE Version is, unfortunately, a sleeping pill on road tires...🙄...The AMG GT2 is more "defined" and lively than it's ACC brother, but still fell rather tame, as if "wrapped in thick layers cotton, especially compared to any AMG GT3s in rf2 or the RSS Mercer in AC....
I have limited confidence in Kunos, considering their track record with previous sims. Assetto Corsa owes much of its success to the modding community, while ACC suffers from significant physics issues and saw development and expansion cut short prematurely. Additionally, Kunos is already months behind their own release schedule, which raises doubts about their ability to deliver a polished version 1.0 by 2026. It seems they struggle internally to bring everything together.
What do you mean ACC support was cut prematurely? They delivered all content and features they said they would. The big thing you are overlooking anyway is that they have built a modern game engine fully from scratch. That is a huge task for triple A studios, let alone a very small one. So yes I'm sure they have had to delay it internally because it is a massive undertaking. But the current state is already much better than ACC early access.
Exactly ac is done by community they never optimised acc every body just upgraded there computer kunos aren't as good as people think taking other people's credit, I have the game hope it improves, took 10 years for ac to get where it is if they look at a 10 -20 year life of Evo then it might have a chance otherwise it'll fail
I know it's early access, but got to be honest I was disappointed. AC had wide appeal for many reasons that dont appear to have been followed up on with the direction of AC Evo. Even the menu interface made me sad. Oh well.
I made a pact to purchase this title on release and having watched a few videos i am glad i did not the same happened when i purchased msfs 24 and we all know what happened with that and i am sure i am never going to be shafted again as a beta tester releasing unfinished games and its like buying a coffee you get half a cup and being told come back net week for the other half, DISGUSTING behaviour.
I was never impressed with AC:C optimization (and have my doubts it ever happened anywhere besides updates to UE itself). The performance stuff again here is definitely a huge red flag.
Great video Mike. Helps me cement my decision to sit and wait for EVO to develop. My go to is AC1 the gift that always gives in my opinion, be tough to kill it. Cheers
If Early Access was for streamers only, I would be mad. I'm sure it will be online soon and maybe my poor driving will provide information to improve the final product. I can always go back to AC and compare the differences. It's a game. I enjoy it.
there's one question every "influencer" forgets to answer : even in this early access state, even being understanding and forgiving, what does it bring over the original AC and EVO, for now ? absolutely nothing, not even better physics or graphics. for now of course.
I already refunded it. Imo it probably won't be worth purchase for atleast 18 months. Or until modding starts if its possible. Until then original ac is a far better product. I know ill be paying more for it in the future but I'm ok with that. My 2 cents
All I ever wanted is raceable AI. Instead they just used the AC1 AI, which is useless. Not holding my breath about them fixing it, since they've never managed to create decent AI. Content wise.. it's impossible to compete with the mods of AC1. As to FFB, well what am I supposed to do with it, if there's no game? Likewise actual racing cars here need work.
My main concern about ACE is the VR implementation and overall performance. I race in VR. I don't have the space for triples and the depth that VR gives is fantastic. I'm feeling that this is going to lean more toward the VR performance in ACC (we all know how that went) than the OG AC (which runs fantastically with mods). Think I'm going to wait until they can prove the game will run well in VR. Which breaks my heart. I was looking forward to this.
ua-cam.com/video/_rwbqtQagRQ/v-deo.html I feel that people conflate graphics bugs with graphics fidelity. There are a lot of graphics bugs like shadows and pop in which is very distracting. I do feel that the haze is overdone, but the color rendering\lighting is the best outside of Gran Turismo and that is most important thing and the rest can be fixed. I think we are spoiled by choice. I do wonder how the modding is going to work in the game. I feel its going to be more similar to the Microsoft Flight Simulator model and only online, only paid & approved mods.
I always prefer purchasing a finished product, at a higher purchase price, rather than an early access title. Paying more money, (without all the issues of Early Release), is worth more than the aggravation of something cheaper.
Kunos is a small studio and probably needs the money input to be able to develop it to the level it wants and needs to be so the early access gives them the opportunity
I agree. The atmosphere of the tracks is unmatched already in it EA state. The foundation is there from the in house engine. Now the ironing out and fleshing out can begin. I am not worried at all. This game woll be amazing in due time
12:00 I agree. In my opinion, the original Assetto Corsa still has the best physics for cars, and road cars. With EVO, I'd say definitely give it time. I remember when Competizione first came out, people bashed that game for at least the first year. Then all of a sudden it became super popular.
It is an early access title , I think almost all of the issues are related to Early access, it is a alpha release , what does one expect. I personally have only ever purchased one warly release title game and that was ACC. I am waiting for the full release of EVo before I purchase. I can't understand why people purchase a Pre release and expect no issues.
Basically lied. Then have the cheek to raise the price by £6 if you don't purchase before 30.1.25 (i think). I shouldn't be surprised really, everything is a cash grab these days
In terms of graphics - I think the trees need work - they look really bad around Bathurst for instance. AMS2 got it right there - PC2 3d trees were also pretty horrific.
Thanks for the video. I never buy any game on day 1 and will wait till the end of the year to see what and where this EVO game is headed. I have just a RTX-3080TI and use VR, have no plans to do anymore PC upgrades. So, i will be watching videos with people using similar hardware specs. I got tired a long time ago of having to upgrade my PC for every new good game that came out to enjoy it at its fullest. Plus, I am retired now, and really don't have the extra money like I used to when working. Pretty sure this EVO game will be very good and want to see what the full content (tracks, cars) will be, and what will modding consist of (what limitations is Kunos going to do). I am still hooked on AC 1 and enjoy the game, content, and new mods are being produced weekly.
I agree, but if they gave one car and track they couldn't charge $32 dollars for that. Game is cool, I was disappointed, I still enjoy AC, LMU and AM2 better..
all these idiots have zero clue what AC was when it was first released. Look at it now. I say buy it if you trust and know Kunos and want to support them. I PROMISE everyone that this game will be amazing at 1.0.
Your praising kunos for original ac when you say look at it now, it wasn't kunos that made ac what it is now that was done by community and modding people need to realise that and stop giving kunos credit for other people's work
@@terrysearle2633 uh... yeah. kunos' job is to build the absolute best foundation possible for the mods to send it to the moon. You trying to tell me kunos shouldn't get credit for that? my excitement is directly tied to mod support and what that will look like in a year.
@@suvann540i ac did have a good base game yes was it the best in world and send you to the moon no content manager updated physics of CSP and pure made ac what it is. I do have high hopes for Evo hopeing kunos saw there mistake in leaving ac and realise the money they lost in 10 years of extra content added and they look at Evo as a long term game not 5 years and abandon it and they can continue making money and content for the next 20 years if done correctly we can only hope. But praising them for what ac has become when it wasn't them is false credit
Agreed, Ermz! And thanks for the comment. It’s going to be a busy year for Kunos…
Hey, Ermin! Can’t wait for the video. It has been too long!
You know it's funny. Because regardless of its shortcomings right now, when i'm actually driving im just amazed how damn fun I have.
Same here and I currently play it with a damn Xbox controller.
i already put in 20 hours just enjoying the cars. and i think 12 of those hours were just the escort cozzie
Definitely shows good potential, can't wait to experience the full 1.0
Umm...why sometimes, the shadows of cars are missing???
Alpha game with low optimization, 0.13 atm, not even in beta. This game will be better in 1 year time, i don´t think it will even be polished at launch. I remember how ACC did, hell even AC1 at launch. My expectations are Summer of 2026 will be the time that we will see it going good and stable.
I agree with the points made in this video. For me, the two biggest disappointments is:
1) As mentioned, the online requirement.
Well put
Totally agree with you!
Thanks for your video, Mike!
Greetings from Germany
If I'm able to play this on low settings with doing some hotlapping/practicing or a race with a few more cars on a 4th gen i5, i'll be a happy camper. If not well, AC with pure and csp will be my go to sim.
Thanks Mike. I really think the FFB is pretty good. Also like the sound when you drive past barriers, as there is a perceptible change that I hear!
Thanks for your honest thoughts. I agree with you.
I believe he is running a 4070 now, said it in the video if I heard correctly.
Another great review: thanks Mike.
Can I ask you what game is R3R?🙏
@@79ramo Raceroom Racing Experience
@79ramo Of course, it's Raceroom
Great comments and insight Mike. I'm excited to see what this game can become. GT7 is a great game, ACC is my favorite. God bless and race on 🏁
I bought it.
Even with bad graphic performance, I Have 4060, I have enjoyed the game, I'll love whatch closely its progress till version 1. hello from México
It's a rather cool game, I did a short review on this game on my channel, have to say I loved the game, but yeah being it Early Access there are some things that need work on.
Please update the hardware in the video, I was watching this amazed, thinking you were running a 6800XT....
I can see the potential but it’s almost unplayable for me in its current build. Customisation and swapping parts is not really my thing and seems like something you add later after getting the foundations correct.
@@lugs118 I agree! I wish they’d prioritized getting the foundations correct before supplementing with features
The potentials are huge. We know now the driving fundamentals are top class and that is the hardest thing to get right in simracing.
Bugs, content? That is easy peasy work in development. Now we just have to be patient and let it cook!
Hi.. Do you think the online is so that Kunos can have more control over mods? (In the future)
@Mi0uss3 wow thanks for the time to make this response I don't have time to read it now I will read it later I thank you for your input!
@@Z06Boss23 extremely well said. Thanks for the great comment!
Triples run fine for me on same cpu and 4090. VR not though.
I think Kunos should remove AI until it's fixed (or made from scratch).
some judged this game 2-hours into the early access.. that is not fair.. like any sim, it needs years of fine tuning. and with the exponential complexity of modern games, it makes sense it will take more time than it did 10-15 years ago.. and this game was also another victim of overhyping, which never translates into anything.. with that said...
if this game is going to be a closed, online-only, gran turismo style game.. im not really that interested. older sims will still be around and there is always something for everyone. the sim racing community in general needs to chill. there is a reason RBR is still the go-to rally sim..
i dont like the front and the force feedback its like acc where you lack detail, and it has like a spring axle where insist to center
Can not tell you how many times I have been "driven through" by the ai, been leading on the last lap and nailed by someone who wasn't even in the mirrors. I will however enjoy it more and more as it gets dialed in.
Graphics probably defaulted to DLAA mode, switch to DLSS Balanced or DLSS Performance and you should hit 120fps.
Not only poor performance but imo looks quite rough, at least in VR. In comparison to say AMS2 that looks way better & runs a twice the frame rate. I would of prefered less content but more solid game i guess there are different people working on different elements of the game.
It is literally unplayable in VR unless you want to get headache and eyestrain...
Everyone is waiting on baited breath for the open world part to be released. Thats what we are all waiting for
Kunos only has 16 employees?!?! Damn. Polyphony (GT) devs have 85. So, yea not a GT killer but something worthwhile. It will take a year though.
1.0 release by fall feels bit optimistic
I know it's early access, but got to be honest I was disappointed. AC had wide appeal for many reasons that dont appear to have been followed up on with the direction of AC Evo.
Even the menu interface made me sad. Oh well.
I made a pact to purchase this title on release and having watched a few videos i am glad i did not the same happened when i purchased msfs 24 and we all know what happened with that and i am sure i am never going to be shafted again as a beta tester releasing unfinished games and its like buying a coffee you get half a cup and being told come back net week for the other half, DISGUSTING behaviour.
If this had been their first attempt at a racing game this would be acceptable. There's no excuse for this. Period.
Only thing good about ACE at the moment is the way it drives and car models.
I was never impressed with AC:C optimization (and have my doubts it ever happened anywhere besides updates to UE itself). The performance stuff again here is definitely a huge red flag.
We must not accept the only only features. It’s unacceptable
Online is for racing online…that’s it!!
Great video Mike. Helps me cement my decision to sit and wait for EVO to develop. My go to is AC1 the gift that always gives in my opinion, be tough to kill it. Cheers
You hit the nail on its head. Kunos has a long way to go with this title and I don’t see them releasing the 1.0 release within a year.
Too Broken
@@AaronBeDarin fair point about VR. Let’s hope for the best…
ua-cam.com/video/_rwbqtQagRQ/v-deo.html I feel that people conflate graphics bugs with graphics fidelity.
Why not just buy it cheaper and wait for game to release fully to play it? Best of both worlds
Kunos is a small studio and probably needs the money input to be able to develop it to the level it wants and needs to be so the early access gives them the opportunity
If it's something you are going to buy eventually you are just having yourself out of some money if you don't buy it now.
I agree. The atmosphere of the tracks is unmatched already in it EA state. The foundation is there from the in house engine. Now the ironing out and fleshing out can begin. I am not worried at all. This game woll be amazing in due time
i need to upgrade my pc to keep up with this ... seems cpu bottlenecked. feels great though.
12:00 I agree. In my opinion, the original Assetto Corsa still has the best physics for cars, and road cars.
With EVO, I'd say definitely give it time. I remember when Competizione first came out, people bashed that game for at least the first year. Then all of a sudden it became super popular.
That's outlandish, the road cars are miles better with the new suspension model.
EVO is cooking.
@TheCameltotem huh?
AC EVO actually has the worst performance of any racing simulator on the market. And that makes me question what Kunos's real priority is right now.
Brilliant video. Very honest and not riding the hype train.
It is very cartoonish to be honest...
Yo!
Too early that's for sure ..
This EA brings ZERO, nada, niente new in terms of racing dynamics or new technologies.
The AI is garbage, AMS2, LMU and even iracing have way better AI, need to be at Least at that level, hopefully better.
That´s exactly what I think. It should have been less content but a more solid gameplay experience!
Think i will wait a year before i look into AC Evo. Lots to be desired as it currently stands
It looks terrible. I'll wait a year before I'll think of buying it.
LOL, licencetest in YT all is disclosed before it is open for public
I agree, but if they gave one car and track they couldn't charge $32 dollars for that. Game is cool, I was disappointed, I still enjoy AC, LMU and AM2 better..
It's a paid demo
Disappointed! KUNOS Should of waited
its worst than i could ever imagine it could be
well so much for a review gee..say just nice stuff wow...
I ended up refunding. The frame rate and performance wasnt there for my PC. Maybe after i upgrade and they optimized.
Well...AC mEhVO should have been free demo...since there was virtually NOTHING close to 1/4 a game...
all these idiots have zero clue what AC was when it was first released.
