This is the 3rd video I've seen comparing pickups where virtually no chords were played. One of the most important aspects of a pickup (if not THE most important aspect) is how clear, and articulate chords sound. What kind of note separation you get. It's the hardest aspect of tone to fix. You don't need to devote an entire video to it, but at least devote a few seconds. Rhythm/riff style playing, ESPECIALLY for rock, is 99% of that music. Hitting the like button, knowing first hand how much time/effort it takes to make these videos. But, this tells me very little.
You know what people want to hear in a pickup comparison video? A power chord, an e minor ring out. Not whatever you just did. Ya know, stuff that gives you a feel of dynamics.
Great guitar escspe 2013. Thanks for being a great dude to me n mike a. Love to see you still rocking out. Plexi is what i have n u make me want my 2203 back cheers rock brother
Hi Sam! When you say you are using the JCM 800, is that an amp setting in the Line 6 Helix, or are you running as: guitar > Helix > JCM 800 > room full of thunder > microphone pickup for your video > video processor and on? Thanks for posting and see you at school!
Hey buddy! Yeah there is a simulation of a JCM800 in the helix. No real amps were used in this video. Can’t argue with the result though! Thanks matey!!
I agree too - noticably sharper, more complex and beautiful in the bridge position. However, the neck sounded definitely bloated in both the low end and overall volume which kind of sabotaged the combination of pickups. That could probably be fixed by lowering the neck pickup by 1 or 2 mm.
hi....hhmmm...im a bit late here BUT...yep.....maybe just stick with the Gibson pus.....i recently got a Gibson SG faded with burstbuckers, and contemplated some changes...but the more i played the unchanged guitar i got to like it and it even sounds better now it's been played for a while.....so...no "riff raffs" for me......i'd consider some PG's for my prs SE though....

I agree. Most pickup “demos” seem to just be an excuse for the uploader to show their technique vs actually demoing the pickup.
Thank you for this. Your playing is so clean and the difference is very clear. I like the chime that 57 Classics has. Very bell like.

Definitely prefer the Riff Raff in the bridge. But the 57 Classic does better cleans in the neck

Tnanks for review ,Sam Coulson .
I love them both. Maybe I should put my 57 neck pickup in upsidedown...

The first thing when I bought my LP was to take out the 57s. They sound too muddy for my taste.
You wasted money on the riff raff set. The 57 sound great I wouldn't have changed anything.
Early 90's classic 57 and post 2006 has nothing in common
Riff raffs sucks!!
