@@BellringerBen yes - once (the same day I filmed Chippenham and Urchfont; didn't record them though). I hail from Swindon, which isn't all that far away from there!
Ringer Tim Or luck, your one-in-a-million for the year sorted. Love the way the 6 still kept chiming afterwards. Clapper fittings shot to bits, was quadruple clappering at times!! :-)
+simonbellringer Great Amwell has a nice ring of 6 bells. Best ones I have rung. Datchworth also have a nice ring of 6. 2 of them were cast in the churchyard. Hertford All Saints has a horrible ring of 10 but it has a nice 2nd. Hertford St Andrew has a nice ring of 8. Broxbourne have a horrible ring of 8. My hometown one is Great Amwell St John the Baptist, we used to visit Broxbourne but people said that they didn't like the bells there. But we still visit Datchworth. I have also wanted to ring at Ware St Mary the Virgin and Bengeo Holy Trinity. East Hertfordshire has a lot of nice rings!
They are awful in a different way! These are so awful as to be funny, Crowle just sound purely vile! A must-visit though, these. The lady who let us in said this was the best ringing they'd had here for years which was a good compliment :-)
Sorry to be a bit harsh I gently hate the clanging notices from the bells th Liverpool angcan cathdrel with the heaviest and highest peal in th world sound better then these
They are bells alright, certainly not imitations!! I never said they were very good bells, they are hideous, but they are so crap as to be amusing and it was a novelty to ring here, very enjoyable indeed!!
What a cute treble!
wowzers!! they must be light. very cramped in that small ringing chamber. Does sound like a whole load of fun though!!
Light - yes, 3cwt! I revisited last year and got some better photos, including upstairs - it's pretty terrifying!
@@simonbellringer Jeez!! I have once rung on a peal of 8 with the tenor only weighing 4cwt and it was in D.
@@BellringerBen Avebury, by any chance? They are rather cute!
@@simonbellringer Yes!! I agree!! have you rung there?

Bouncy clapper on some of the bells
Great stuff :-)
on the list of towers to visit.
No, I appear at about 1:09, in the blue polo shirt - I give a cheeky grin to the camera shortly before the Stand is called!
That catch was awesome! Possibly the worst in ringing history!
It was hilarious!! I could just about hear 135 within the jangling.... Then what was left of the catch sort of died ;-)
simonbellringer
That's good, I was on 5 - skill!

simonbellringer Haha! Nick's facial expression is funny at 0:41!
Funny tower
Have you rung at any church in the eastern district of Hertfordshire?
No - afraid I have never been near Hertfordshire to ring, an area which I must get round to covering... Any exceptionally nice or nasty rings? :-)
