I lost my Bischon poo July 28th after 16.6 years with him...we were had a very close bond but in the last year we knew his time was short....four days after losing him we got a puppy. A Malshi we named Noah is almost five mths old now. It was a testament to the love we had for our bischon poo by wanting another beautiful animal to fill our home with. I still mourn some for my sweet Lucky, but Noah keeps us busy as we train him and love him for who he is and will be. The love of a dog is so very special❤
My boy named Buddy is black and white just like this. He lived to be 17. They r cutest toy dogs when younger. His daughter lives to 19. I’d recommend not letting them jumping up and down high beds and couches to avoid injury. His daughter injured her back and was paralyzed. Luckily a back surgeon gave her surgery to fix her up but it cost us a lot of money. In the end it was worth it she outlived both her parents and passed this year. Great memories for sure.
Very good advice. Dogs with longer backs, like the shih tzu, dachshund - maybe even the corgi? - are prone to back issues exactly like you describe. Whenever possible, I always lifted my first shih tzu up onto beds & sofas, and I always do this now with my current two. You are blessed with long-lived dogs! What is your secret?! Glad to hear that your one dog's paralysis was amenable to surgery; back surgery (in people and in dogs) is so unpredictable, and like you describe - expensive! Other than that, it sounds like your experiences with this breed have indeed left you with wonderful memories.

Our 1 year old lil 9 lb. Shitzu is a lover for about 20 minutes when she gets up, a ball chaser for about 20 minutes a fighter with her. toy for about 20 minutes and then her and I take us a good deserved nap, these are great lil dogs that will keep you occupied every second of the day❤️❤️❤️
My shihtzu does this too. Expect this After a bath and on days he doesn’t get enough play to burn his energy. Its funny actually until he wears himself out.

Mine did it. He is so lazy that he gained weight and doesnt want to walk the old snoring bear is 10. We always say for the fun. Dont move too much or you pull a muscle. But walking is no fun he wants to sleep nothing else
Have you talked to your vet about possible arthritis? The extra weight and old age set him up for it and can even shorten his life span. You should get him on a weight management diet and see if he has arthritis. There are medications that can help. I had a shih tzu who started developing arthritis at about the same age. He was a major jumper so it was no wonder. But with medication and weight management, he lived to be 16 years old. I just had to let him go last August - after he’d had a very full and happy life. His pain was well managed up until the last couple months when it was just not possible to address his pain effectively and safely.
This video of an animal (especially a Shitzhoo) is totally inappropriate and un acceptable! I hope that some day you will develop an understanding of what's REAL!
Actually there is a term for this behavior - and it’s play behavior. And the ‘zoomies’ is also a natural behavior. It happens in almost all dogs. It’s from pent up energy. Do some research on it before you cry foul.
Nonsense this dog is enjoying the sh!t out of itself and loves to play with its human. If you suppress every natural dog behaviour your dog will probably be bored out of its mind.
