    Thank you Sorin. Just had a 40" Toshiba with the same fault and because of of this video, I found two Schottky diodes which where both showing as shorted. I removed the one and the short was removed. I replaced the dodgy one from another board and the fault was resolved - A MASSIVE THANK YOU !!

    What I like about these videos is that Sorin shows us all the ins and outs. How a technician might use used parts. An 'honest' technician might charge three times the price just for 'proper' soldering new parts or the extra time needed for example to take out a part.

    1. Wilst "some people, not any has on here, and if they ever do, taq# or whatever the shit its call on that place where people have thousands of friends, they will never see, meet, or have physical contact with in their intire life#.them in this to look at
    Whilst some are stuck jobs they hate, I remember a quote I very wise man once said, choose somethng you love, you might struggle at first, but you will become a master at it, then earn a good living. Positive attitude draws positive energy, visualisation, think see and visualisation, and IT WILL BECOME YOUR REALITY.
    I thankyou for your time, effort, and passing your skills on, to others that want to learn. @ To many skills are being lost, and go to the next life.and I can see the uk becoming a nation of critics, whos daily life is to criticise whilst never looking at their faults.
    Anyone taking offence to any wording above, is exactly who I mean, as the above is all positive, and if don't criticise, why take offence toanything abovementioned.
    You followec your dream and became a master at some thing you love.
    Keep up the goodwork, and doing something you loves, is also havng a postive effect and outcome, as all that waist would otherwise be going going to landfill, and instead is being reused and giving new life, and some to people who would otherwise not beable to Offord abrand tv.

    In fact it is a vestel which comes in the market under various brand names around the globe and these televisions are more than the half of the total selled tv's in the planet.It is a must for every technician to know how to work them because regardless of their low price are relative easy and repairable getting money in the lab.

    Toshiba ? And the power supply is a Turkish Vestel ?
    Why you use a separation transformer and a power meter on 220 V side ? Sometimes may be useful.

    Hello,
    Two questions.1- What are you calling big choppers, the transformers? 2- Why would you/anybody want the diodes to carry more amps? If you spread out, say, 15 amps over four diodes, then each diode will carry +/- 3.75 amps. Whereas, if you spread the same 15 amps over three diodes, then each diode will have to carry 5 amps - isn’t that more likely to shorten the life of these diodes? Please clarify. Thank you kindly

    With a micro-oven bulb you can discharge capacitor

    But why then they use three diodes instead one bigger one?

      Because a powerful diode comes in different package that needs aluminum heat sink which costs extra money and pcb space in total.

    They are Shottky rectifier diodes. They convert AC from transformer to DC. If you omit one, the DC power wouldn't be as clean.

      you are right and no. they are rectifiers, but are on paralel mode just to carry more power. thats all. If you understand how the wave shape is and how the diodes are working , you know the number of the diods have nothing to do with the 'clean of DC'

      These diodes [working together] rectify the AC to Dc, they don’t actually convert it by themselves, right? Converting diodes don’t exist, right? Please clarify, I’m trying to learn and details are important, I think. Thank you kindly

    Dude , what kind of "repairman" are you???? For a PAYING CUSTOMER you use a used diode? how much willa new one cost? Also does it not make sense to change all three so the fixing will be more reliable. Obviously you are an experienced guy but you are all over the place with little explanation regarding procedures. Hope you charged a low fee after using and OLD USED PART.

      New or used, what matters is he got the thing working...and he isn't hiding the fact that he used a used component...i appreciate him for that...and I with only some basic circuit knowledge, completely understood what he explained there...

      @@temsuakumozukum8482 I bet if that was YOUR TV you will not be so "happy" if told that an USED part was used to repair it , and that you will be charged FULL FEE. I guess you are one that when in need to change a tire for your car they give you a used Michellin tire ( which will cost 30-40 bucks) but you INSIST on paying itsvregular cost of 140.. And he did not hide the fact of using a used part in the video but did he disclosed this to the owner of the tv? I am glad that you are an electronic genius ( I guess that was your insinuation on the last line of your comment) , but I am not and a clearer explanationnis always appreciated ( you know contrary to popular knowledge we people with doctoral degrees do not know everything) Have a nice day.

      A professional repair technician puts a used part just for testing purposes which in the case is best to replace all the diodes with new ones of the same type faster and more powerful than the originals.

      This is a real occuring fault very common to vestel power supply chassis and in my opinion what is shown in the video is the faulting component with the repairing procedure just for knowledge purposes.In that case the quality of the replacement component is not what it matters but is the gained knowledge.
