i think the main reason for this games not sell very well was the multiplayer format, i mean the fact you can not join somebodys lobby once it started the game is awful thats why monster hunter is way better

Okay basics of god eater creatures called aragami (Wrathful gods) come from the ground in the middle of the night. Humanity was quickly falling. Though some time down the road they developed artificial aragami called god arcs which are able to fully kill Aragami. Anime does a bit better job of explaining. But you have to have a innate compatibility towards god arcs to use them or else they'd devour you. Those who can use god arcs are called God eaters.
