It's not like they had much of a choice. Chyler and Eric both wanted to leave the show, and so Shonda had to kill them off. Aparently it was Chyler's own idea to kill off Lexie. As for Mark, Shonda thought about sending Eric over to PP, but that would have out Mark far away from Sofia, and she didn't want to have an entire season of Mark grieving, and aparently she felt like, she couldn't have Mark without Lexie. She also didn't want him to just leave, because he wouldn't have abandoned Callie and Arizona, and he was not going to just leave Sofia, because he wasn't an absentee father, that wouldn't have held true to his character.
A few episodes before the shooting in 6x19 Callie says “imagine going to work every day knowing you’re going to end up on the wrong side of a gun” this is the same episode the shooter and his wife are introduced

i have one. in an early season around the same time when addison first comes merediths mother is checked into the hospital. since she has alzheimer’s she was sort of in the past the whole episode and believing her and richard where young and he was deciding between her and adele. but just before she left she was lucid again and was talking about her past. before her mother was checked out of the hospital she sees meredith and says “He doesn’t love her, but he’ll stay with her anyways because after all, she is his wife.” her mom was talking about herself, richard, and adele but that for shadows to dereks decision between meredith and addison and what his decision ends up being.
@-- heart tumors may not present immediately based on the location of the tumor. But, the brain isnt like other organs in our body.. there is enough elasticity in our tissues to allow swelling to occur and go down without significant notice.. whereas the brain, is tightly crammed in our skull, meaning if there is any abnormality like a growth/injury/bleed, there is not enough space inside for the brain to expand/accomodate. which leads to compression of brain structures which in turn lead to a variety of symptoms affecting daily activities, starting with constant headaches, blurred vision, nausea, projectile vomiting. (and this is just the start). And then the fact that neuronal tissue is the slowest healing tissue (even the slightest injury will take months for healing, sometimes maybe never). So, yeah... with a midline shift that large... no way 🤣
ALS I yeah you can tell the writers didn’t do much thinking when they decided to give Amelia a brain tumor. For the past few seasons they focus way more on drama than actual medicine anymore.
Ok Lexie deserved at least an episode for us to mourn her. She died in the first 15 minutes of the episode and then was hardly mentioned. And I love mark but he got 2 episodes. Lexie was my favorite and she deserved more
The only thing I didn’t like was the second Maggie found out she was related to Ellis, she acted like she was her mother. Like biologically, yes, but Ellis raised Meredith, not Maggie.
I disagree I feel like Maggie was very clear on her separation of her biological mother and the woman who raised her. She knew she was adopted her whole life so her feelings about Ellis were not sudden, it was years of emotions she’d formed about the person who gave birth to her.
Are we going to ignore when Owen went to Germany after Teddy and she asked him if Amelia was pregnant and he got her pregnant that same night?? Or when Alex (speaking for Leo) asked if he was having a little sister? And now he has Allison
During Derek’s death I was hoping meredith would say stay here, don’t move, wait for me but she never did I think it would have been a really good line
Most of these aren’t actually foreshadowing so much as they are the writers calling back to things they’d already written as new conflicts behind the scenes came up.
I remember when Izzie told Alex that she could see him in 10 years and that he was gonna be a great surgeon and guess what he ended up being chief interim of grey sloan briefly and chief of pediatrics surgery. He also was hired at another hospital and became chief of surgery there after being fired at Grey Sloan. Now he has reunited with Izzie and they have twins together. I also remember the first time Derek told Meredith that if anything happens to him he don't want her to be alone he wanted to have a baby then he got shot and then she was pregnant at the time and lost the baby. The second time he said it he was hit by a truck and died and then she got pregnant again but the baby made it this time Little Ellis
I think the easiest person to bring back would be Gorge. The body was so mangled and they are really just going off of 007 and the mole. Maybe it wasn’t Gorge, perhaps Mer either mis read 007 or the person thought Mer was a 007 and also knew what it meant. The mole could have just been a coincidence.
@ 9:58 I think that’s the most selfish thing Meredith had done in this show. She was hurting yes, but she still should have realized his family mattered too and would’ve loved to say goodbye.
She has the medical decision making for Amelia Amelia would have kept him in life support in rural hospital for days which you can’t do for long It’s her breaking point after all
naomi If someone did that to me I’d hate them for the rest of my life. Meredith was selfish as hell for that and had no right to yell and be angry at Amelia when Amelia lost her only family that cared.
And in season 2 when it comes out that Alex fails his practical boards and George says, well that's embarrassing, then he fails his medical boards to become a resident.
Another foreshadow for the shooting is when the residents were deciding surgery or love and Meredith said “gun to my head I would choose surgery over love”
Obviously this video came out before hand but one I've noticed while binge watching Grey's during the quarantine was Joe finding the paperwork for Alex and Izzie's embryos and being scared that Alex has Izzie babies running around. And the in the last season Alex leaves Joe for Izzie because she has their children.
@@theloverocks3798 She got no money from his death and that is so wrong, we all know that Callie would give her the money (or half of it) but instead she kept it all for Sofia, that is not very Callie's way.
As someone who writes, I can assure you that some foreshadowing is just the author needing a plot point to happen so they look at their previous work for ways to justify said plot point.
The shooting episodes were one of the best series of episodes I have ever seen. It was so intense, and I’m glad they didn’t include that usual cheesy Pop music in the background. It had me on edge the whole time. (Edit: Spelling)
9:44 I still never forgave Mer for doing that to his sisters and mom. Mostly for doing that to Amelia. Like I know Derek was the love of her life but still, Amelia deserved to see him... to at least say goodbye.
Rewatching the epsiode of Dereks death, at the beginning Meredith tells Zola to hurry because she doesn't want to be late. Meredith then says,"what happens when surgeons are late?" and Zola replies, "people die" and the neurosurgeon that did surgery on derek was on call, but late!
Derek’s death was super foreshadowed, there was another part where Meredith says something like “Just one wrong turn down a dark and twisty path” when she was talking to someone about if Derek died who would get their kid 😬
lily !!! Amelia was hurting. Imagine going such a trauma like your mom or dad getting shot with your brother. You two become so close together. I get that Meredith lost the love of her life and the father of her children but Amelia lost her brother. She’s had known and loved her brother her whole life. She will never find another brother but Meredith can find another husband. She can find someone else to love and she did. So put yourself in Amelia’s shoes before just saying that you will never forgive her for hurting and grieving
every greys anatomy season after season 11 is in the future because when Derek died Meredith left seattle for a year and came back at the end of the season. that means season 11 happend over two years, so season 15 is technically happening irl and season 16 is next year.
i still hate shona for killing Lexie and mark. now every time i rewatch Greys i completely skip over the plane crash bc i cant watch it. the scene just hurts to much.
lexie and mark’s breakup is the saddest. lexie changed mark from a “manwhore” to someone who loved almost too much. when sloan arrives, mark’s past catches up with his new past - his sex-crazed past self means he has a daughter, but the new, loving man lexie has turned him into means he takes her in, leading to mark and lexie’s breakup. lexie changes him for the better, but that eventually leads to their breakup.
I still can't forgive them for killing Lexie off...

i have one. in an early season around the same time when addison first comes merediths mother is checked into the hospital. since she has alzheimer’s she was sort of in the past the whole episode and believing her and richard where young and he was deciding between her and adele. but just before she left she was lucid again and was talking about her past. before her mother was checked out of the hospital she sees meredith and says “He doesn’t love her, but he’ll stay with her anyways because after all, she is his wife.” her mom was talking about herself, richard, and adele but that for shadows to dereks decision between meredith and addison and what his decision ends up being.
THE APRIL C SECTION HIT DIFFERENT
i just found one as i was watching! callie says to arizona “if we have a baby our baby is not gonna be one of your kids in the nicu”
Amelia's brain had that much midline shift and she was out there , walking and talking? for years? Ok.🤣
ALS I well the part of the brain that it hit was her decision making of it was at another part maybe it coulve affected that
Ok Lexie deserved at least an episode for us to mourn her. She died in the first 15 minutes of the episode and then was hardly mentioned. And I love mark but he got 2 episodes. Lexie was my favorite and she deserved more
The show died for me with that plane crash and Lexie’s death. I was OVER IT! 😭😭😭
The only thing I didn’t like was the second Maggie found out she was related to Ellis, she acted like she was her mother. Like biologically, yes, but Ellis raised Meredith, not Maggie.
she’s her mother, but not her mom.
And now he has Allison
i will never forgive them for killing lexi and derek. It felt so real as if they were my family. Im still not over it. It tore me apart.
During Derek’s death I was hoping meredith would say stay here, don’t move, wait for me but she never did
I think it would have been a really good line
Meredith really has aged.. but I miss Cristina so much
After 16 years, I bet so haha
Ok... is it just me or are most of these coincidence
Thanks for reminding me of the pain again 😁
Most of these aren’t actually foreshadowing so much as they are the writers calling back to things they’d already written as new conflicts behind the scenes came up.
Arizona's leg really did just magically grow back. In pictures from jo + alex's wedding, you can see that she isn't wearing a prosthetic leg
GEORGE WAIT NO NO STOP LIKE REVERSE REVERSE REVERSE REVERSEEEEE
@ 9:58 I think that’s the most selfish thing Meredith had done in this show. She was hurting yes, but she still should have realized his family mattered too and would’ve loved to say goodbye.
Jessa yea but even Derek said he wouldn’t want his sisters there duh
gabby ocho sweetie he said he would...
She has the medical decision making for Amelia
Amelia would have kept him in life support in rural hospital for days
which you can’t do for long
It’s her breaking point after all
naomi If someone did that to me I’d hate them for the rest of my life. Meredith was selfish as hell for that and had no right to yell and be angry at Amelia when Amelia lost her only family that cared.
And in season 2 when it comes out that Alex fails his practical boards and George says, well that's embarrassing, then he fails his medical boards to become a resident.
Still can’t believe Izzy did that for Negan
I knew I recognized him from somewhere
🤣😭
IM LITERALLY SOBBING 11 HIT ME SO HARD
beep beep I NEVER UNDERSTOOD WHY HE WAS RUBBING HER HAIR UNTIL NOW!!!!
just like a red semi
@@nico8830 too soon
the song that plays when derek gets shot gives me the chills but i love it
Another foreshadow for the shooting is when the residents were deciding surgery or love and Meredith said “gun to my head I would choose surgery over love”
I always wondered what happened to Sloan... Still do.
Midnight Ramen no Mark’s kid Sloan
I was hoping that she would have showed up for his death or funeral
I was hoping that she would have showed up for his death or funeral
@@theloverocks3798 She got no money from his death and that is so wrong, we all know that Callie would give her the money (or half of it) but instead she kept it all for Sofia, that is not very Callie's way.
I honestly believe shonda must have been planning the plane crash for a while before it happened the amount of times they talk about plane crashes
I realized it was George from the second time Meredith said double O 7 and I gasped so hard I almost passed out 😭
George's death hurt and really traumatized me . I've never been able to recover from that
I doesnt notice their was so much parallels between some line and the episodes now I see all the thing said happen on the next season or episode ahaha
The length of this video, is my least favorite episode in Grey's Anatomy! Season 11, episode 21.
Lucy Dib oof same
Isn’t it everyone’s?
It's actually my favorite episode, besides 6x23 and 2x17
@@dwarfplanets533 wait Derek's death was your favorite episode?
@@lucydib5014 Yup, him and Owen are my least favorite characters, I also get strangely happy when sad things happen in tv shows
5:23 WAIT STOP I NEVER REALIZED HE STROKED HER HAIR IM GONNA CRY AGAIN
Am I the only one that laughed at George saying “if you died no one would care”
None of this was really foreshadowing but I still enjoyed the video.
Meredith getting tested isn't really foreshadowing, its just character development.
As someone who writes, I can assure you that some foreshadowing is just the author needing a plot point to happen so they look at their previous work for ways to justify said plot point.
i got chills when george wrote 007 on merideth, i’ve seen that scene before but it still haunts me
in 1x02 george said to izzie, "at least you are helping people". then he died for save a woman.
Lexie & Mark’s death fucked me up the most
Omfg the April C-Section 😳😳😳
The Burke and Cristina one is awesome
One of Yang’s patients in season 6 is named Gary Clark. When Teddy is first introduced
I’m pretty certain that’s not true.
Levi Stephens but it is 🤪 (probably not the same Gary Clark)
The shooting episodes were one of the best series of episodes I have ever seen. It was so intense, and I’m glad they didn’t include that usual cheesy Pop music in the background. It had me on edge the whole time.
(Edit: Spelling)
thought i clicked on the wrong video when i saw john from supernatural on a hospital bed
9:44
I still never forgave Mer for doing that to his sisters and mom. Mostly for doing that to Amelia. Like I know Derek was the love of her life but still, Amelia deserved to see him... to at least say goodbye.
Rewatching the epsiode of Dereks death, at the beginning Meredith tells Zola to hurry because she doesn't want to be late. Meredith then says,"what happens when surgeons are late?" and Zola replies, "people die" and the neurosurgeon that did surgery on derek was on call, but late!
i cried *too many* times watching this video
It’s 4am & I’m up crying to some of these clips .. wow
I caught a couple of these!! Derek Sheppard’s death, the shooting and the plane crash.
Same
Geez they should’ve been careful about the things they said
Derek’s death was super foreshadowed, there was another part where Meredith says something like “Just one wrong turn down a dark and twisty path” when she was talking to someone about if Derek died who would get their kid 😬
I feel like Lexi was taking to soon
theres also one where derek says “its like i was drowing and you saved me” then later on in the show meredith drowned and derek saved her
Idk what the hell a foreshadow is but I enjoyed these scenes
Idk if anyone said this but when Meredith had that dream of Derek getting hit by the car/truck
It's in the video
George's death basically means that sometime soon, James Bond will die.
"Arizona loses her leg (before it magically grows back)" lmao I always notice that too
amelia lecturing meredith about the love of her life is something i will never forgive her for
So put yourself in Amelia’s shoes before just saying that you will never forgive her for hurting and grieving
shonda really foreshadowed every single death i-
every greys anatomy season after season 11 is in the future because when Derek died Meredith left seattle for a year and came back at the end of the season. that means season 11 happend over two years, so season 15 is technically happening irl and season 16 is next year.
i still hate shona for killing Lexie and mark. now every time i rewatch Greys i completely skip over the plane crash bc i cant watch it. the scene just hurts to much.
lexie and mark’s breakup is the saddest. lexie changed mark from a “manwhore” to someone who loved almost too much. when sloan arrives, mark’s past catches up with his new past - his sex-crazed past self means he has a daughter, but the new, loving man lexie has turned him into means he takes her in, leading to mark and lexie’s breakup. lexie changes him for the better, but that eventually leads to their breakup.
when I noticed number 11 I literally cried ten times harder
be a warning or indication of (a future event).
for those who don’t know the true definition of foreshadowing.
