It's gutless but I'm enjoying it nonetheless. Comfortable, cool features and the fuel economic is great so far. Guess we'll see how this high compression motor fares in NH's sub-zero winter temps. Wanted Machine Gray but ended up in Polymetal because I didn't want to wait 6 more weeks for the boat to deliver one. Really happy overall though. Great edit, subbed 👍
I have a 2018 Mazda 3 with the same engine - makes 184 horsepower in my car. Fuel economy is maybe 10% worse in below freezing temperatures, but feels like it makes more power and is more responsive in the cold (more likely that it pulls timing in the summer tbh). I live in Central NY.
@@owascoshaw loving it, very capable rig. I just got back from 4 days of hiking and driving out in the Kennebago wilderness area of Northwest Maine. Some of the roads to the starts of the bushwhacks, were pretty washed out and/or overgrown but she handled it all with no issue. Gave her the good wash this morning! 😄
How do you compare this new SUV (non-turbo or NA) lineup of Mazda with the other competing brands of the same class/category? Is it’s power-to-weight ratio adequate enough? Or barely enough? Thanks for all you do. Appreciate it.
Huh, the matte plastic on the center shifter console looks a lot better than the shiny piano plastic on the higher trims. Is the 8 speaker decent on the low bass end?
The matte plastic is more scratch resistant as well, 8 speaker sounds ok, the bass sounds like a JBL portable speaker or something like that, it no where near the bose sound system which its insane.
The color on this one looks great! It blends with the huge plastic cladding. One thing that may be a deal breaker for me is the 187 hp engine. Which leads me to debate between this trim and the Turbo. 256 hp is a big bump and more to my liking. But the no all black wheels on the Turbo and the silver/gray valance on the front irks me a bit. Why couldn't these parts be all blacked out just like in the preferred plus? Hopefully there will be a Carbon trim that addresses these.
Mazda has commented that they didn’t want to take away from the driving experience, so it’s not as correcting as other LKA systems you may know of. Others on the CX-50 Facebook groups have commented that it feels almost non-existent and will let you go over lanes quite easily.
😂 people gotta stop showing off vehicles with fish eye cameras. We can't see how the color and lines fit with the car. It's not just you, but machine gray is always a distorted camera in every video
@ryanyomomma how much bigger does the cx50 feel as compared to the cx30? Is it harder to park as it’s wider and longer? I have a 2020 cx30 lease coming to an end soon.
@@jjkerning3293I had the cx50 for about a week before getting the 30, and it’s really not that big a difference to me personally. Yes, it’s wider in the front, but you really can’t tell a difference. And that was the first suv I’ve ever driven. It is a different however going from one to the other. But I am definitely planning on getting the cx50 back soon. I honestly prefer it over the 30.

Just as TheEmpoleon said, I have the Mazda 3 and probably loose @ 1 mpg in cold weather, maybe 2 in sub-zero but no noticeable performance loss.
I’ve learned to put my foot down a little bit better with my CX 50 nonturbo, so it feels powerful enough for me😁

Best car test drive ever!!! Thank you! You have a new subscriber.
Thank you so much, appreciate the support!!
Doesn’t have the option for a dynamic guide lines (rear view guide lines synced to the steering wheel) in this preferred plus model? Thank you.
No it doesn't, for that you need to upgrade to the premium plus trims
@@jaygtestdrives The premium plus nonturbo does not have the guidelines either. I think you have to go up to the turbo models to get that, possibly

wheres the HUD on the windshield?
it is not available on the Preferred Plus

On the Mazda's website says the CX-50 only has wireless Apple CarPlay, not wireless Android Auto.
The website says it has Wireless for both, the Monroney sticker for the Preferred Plus says it too.
Wish the interior came black
The lack of lane centering is inexcusable in a 2022 vehicle priced well over $30k.
Great video! Sounds like a pretty noisy cabin in a cx50.
Hopefully it's just the tire choice mazda went with?

What's you opinion on the Lane Keep Assist? Didn't seem like it helped very much
Its actually pretty good it keeps you alert, I was doing it repeatedly so it didn't look like it help very much

Silver is one of popular colors, wondering why Mazda does not offer it. I'd love to purchase one with silver color.

Where are the 8 speakers in this model?
How the 8 speakers system sound?
Its ok missing the bass though
Nice looking SUV. I'd say just keep emblem on back & remove badging. Give it that totally clean rear look. Who's with me? 🤔😏🤪
I counted an 8-9 second 0-60. Anyone else?
It's between 7 and 8 seconds
The screen is pathetically small.. Mazda could upgrade
but girls love this screen though
it`s not small at all, go and see it at dealership. bigger screens are insane - it`s not a couch and tv, it`s a car!
Do you like the Cloth seat , are they good ? The gps does not use all the screen ?
My Apple Maps go on fullscreen in my CX50
