    You should have noted if they leak when you're not squeezing them.
    And for dry time it didn't seem like all the dots were the same size. The smaller ones would dry faster so you can't really compare them. The other parts were helpful though.

      I agree! Random Glue gun leaks are the worse.

      I think they also have to consider durability. Our hot glue gun has lasted at least 10 years, when we tried to buy a new one, because the old one was looking gross despite it still working amazingly, the new one lasted a couple of months before it stoped working as well. I know that is hard to test but it has to be considered
      Also how long you need to charge the glue gun or replace the batteries

    • @fashionbug9880
      @fashionbug9880 7 років тому +10

      I have one that leaks, but a trick to prevent it is when you temporarily put it down, pull the glue stick back a centimeter or so. It will still melt the glue in the gun so you can use it immediately, but not enough for it to drip out. Granted I've only tried this on my 1 glue gun so idk if it works for all, but it really helps.

    • @EmilieBlueBerry
      @EmilieBlueBerry 7 років тому +16

      Yes, agreed the testing would have been of better quality with some minor protocol improvements:
      - score each gun twice blinded from each others' scoring and then use the average
      - draw patterns on the paper sheets to follow for the handling tests
      - draw equal sized circles (multiples) to fill for drying time
      - heat each guns multiple times for a better measure of time
      - include other technical characteristics like weight and durability
      - repeat all the tests with a different glue

    I think the orange part on the Patec glue gun was supposed to come off, it's just a protection if the tip is still a bit hot once you want to put it away. Super interesting video, I'd like to see other types of tools put to the test !

    Dry time is kind of relative, depending on what you are using it for. Besides it probably depends more on the glue stick itself than on the glue gun.

      Glue guns come in 40, 60, 70 etc. watts, basically the more watts, the hotter the glue becomes?

    • @tookitogo
      @tookitogo 5 років тому +2

      Rob Ot - No. More watts simply give it more power to heat up faster, and to support higher flow rates. The heater automatically reduces power when it reaches temperature, regardless of wattage.

    • @robot7759
      @robot7759 5 років тому

      @@tookitogo Higher flow rate = higher temperature? Just trying to wrap my head around the concept of low & high temp glue guns, a qualification we don't have... 😼

    • @shaynaformity1384
      @shaynaformity1384 4 роки тому

      @@robot7759 some materials will melt if you use a high temp glue gun (styrofoam, some synthetic fabrics), but low temp is not as strong a hold, so heavier items are held together better with high temp glue (rope, wood, etc).

    The time it takes to dry depends on the gluesticks as well. And, some glueguns get hotter than others, which makes the glue easier to work with, but it takes longer to dry.

    Thanks for the video...but the following points was not noted which I think is important: Do they leak when not being squeezed? Do they stand up well when put down on the table? Does the handle get hot when using for a long time? I had a glue gun that just keeps on leaking even when not being used and the handle gets hot. The other one I got which is a heavy duty one just gave up on me and it was leaking all over though it stands up well.

    Thanks for the video. Super helpful! I'm also wondering if there's a difference between glue sticks. I bought some cheap ones at the dollar store, haven't tried them yet, but now I'm wondering if their quality is ok. I know some are super yellow once dry and some are clear. I prefer the clear ones. Would love to hear your take on that. :)

    I want to know why there isn't a glue gun that combines all 5 major features. It seems you can get 1-3 but never all 5. Those features are: 1.auto shut off 2.on-off switch 3.temp control 4. indicator light and 5.interchangeable nozzles. If you guys ever get around to your own line of glue guns PLEASE include all 5 of these features. I would pay a lot of money for it. Bonus if it's cute. Particularly chartreuse.
    Another question; why are there no guns between $40 and $100?
