You should have noted if they leak when you're not squeezing them. And for dry time it didn't seem like all the dots were the same size. The smaller ones would dry faster so you can't really compare them. The other parts were helpful though. (Edited to add more)
I think they also have to consider durability. Our hot glue gun has lasted at least 10 years, when we tried to buy a new one, because the old one was looking gross despite it still working amazingly, the new one lasted a couple of months before it stoped working as well. I know that is hard to test but it has to be considered Also how long you need to charge the glue gun or replace the batteries
I have one that leaks, but a trick to prevent it is when you temporarily put it down, pull the glue stick back a centimeter or so. It will still melt the glue in the gun so you can use it immediately, but not enough for it to drip out. Granted I've only tried this on my 1 glue gun so idk if it works for all, but it really helps.
Yes, agreed the testing would have been of better quality with some minor protocol improvements: - score each gun twice blinded from each others' scoring and then use the average - draw patterns on the paper sheets to follow for the handling tests - draw equal sized circles (multiples) to fill for drying time - heat each guns multiple times for a better measure of time - include other technical characteristics like weight and durability - repeat all the tests with a different glue
Thank God you made sure to mention why you edited! People could've died, gone crazy or just who knows... I nearly killed a plant, purely out of anger and an absurd amount of frustration, then, I saw that you did in fact mention why you edited. That was close, Cally, no seriously. Keeping it real 💯
I think the orange part on the Patec glue gun was supposed to come off, it's just a protection if the tip is still a bit hot once you want to put it away. Super interesting video, I'd like to see other types of tools put to the test !
I need your help!! Something I don’t think you guys have ever done but a BABY SHOWER DIYS. preferably star and moon theme. I love your bohemian, delicate, take on everything. 💕
Rob Ot - No. More watts simply give it more power to heat up faster, and to support higher flow rates. The heater automatically reduces power when it reaches temperature, regardless of wattage.
@@tookitogo Higher flow rate = higher temperature? Just trying to wrap my head around the concept of low & high temp glue guns, a qualification we don't have... 😼
@@robot7759 some materials will melt if you use a high temp glue gun (styrofoam, some synthetic fabrics), but low temp is not as strong a hold, so heavier items are held together better with high temp glue (rope, wood, etc).
the orange cap from the patec one is suppose to come off. i have the same one and i thought it was broken, i complained and they replied that it was a cover and it suppose to come off. 😂😂😂
I'm not to bummed about long dry times, tbh. I kind of prefer it if it was more like 3 minutes because I've had the opposite issue of trying to glue something and the glue was already dry before I could attach anything.
The time it takes to dry depends on the gluesticks as well. And, some glueguns get hotter than others, which makes the glue easier to work with, but it takes longer to dry.
I have the blusmart glue gun from amazon that I swear by (has a cord but also has an on/off switch and a protector for the cord)! I love it so much. I’ve also seen people rave about the ryobi glue gun which is cordless
You guys really should start a glue gun line, i would actually love different colors, and with bad past experiences with glue guns i know you guys would put time and effot into creating an awesome glue gun that wont let us down. Please do it!!! I have faith!
Yes, your own line would be awesome. Here are some key features, a durable stand, different sizes (big jobs - little jobs) and tips (like those for a cake icing bag) especially for precise glueing.
peep the black and decker glue gun. i don't know y'all Canadians know that company, but its a really big industrial tool company in the US. their glue gun is a steep $40, but my mom bought one in 1996 and it still is pristine and the best glue gun i've ever used. being professional craftswomen and diy-ers it might be smart to invest in one.
I thought "I'm gonna buy that winner glue gun because I need a new one" and then I remembered that I have different outlets because I live in Germany 😭
Thanks for the video...but the following points was not noted which I think is important: Do they leak when not being squeezed? Do they stand up well when put down on the table? Does the handle get hot when using for a long time? I had a glue gun that just keeps on leaking even when not being used and the handle gets hot. The other one I got which is a heavy duty one just gave up on me and it was leaking all over though it stands up well.
I have the cordless Surebonder glue gun that you guys tried in the video and absolutely LOVE it except for the fact that it drips a lot when left on the stand.
Can we also have a follow up on this for how long they last? I've had some that were really great to use and then after a while (like months) they just stop working. Did the good ones here last?
Thanks for the video. Super helpful! I'm also wondering if there's a difference between glue sticks. I bought some cheap ones at the dollar store, haven't tried them yet, but now I'm wondering if their quality is ok. I know some are super yellow once dry and some are clear. I prefer the clear ones. Would love to hear your take on that. :)
I want to know why there isn't a glue gun that combines all 5 major features. It seems you can get 1-3 but never all 5. Those features are: 1.auto shut off 2.on-off switch 3.temp control 4. indicator light and 5.interchangeable nozzles. If you guys ever get around to your own line of glue guns PLEASE include all 5 of these features. I would pay a lot of money for it. Bonus if it's cute. Particularly chartreuse. Another question; why are there no guns between $40 and $100?
you should compare glue sticks next like maybe some are more stringy than others and also which ones are shorter so you go through them faster and like compare if they have any bubbles or are cloudy instead of clear
Did you use the sticks from the same brand? I have an pretty decent glue gun but I only an use the branded ones bc the other ones are burning in only 😅
I’ve been wanting to buy the Ryobi cordless glue gun that works with their drill battery. I wish you guys would have tested that one, but it could get expensive if you don’t already have the drill battery. Has anyone tried it before, though?
Thank you for the great test! I have had so many glue guns over the years. My current favorite from Amazon.ca is the surebonder he-750. You can buy additional tips for it and it heats up super fast.
I actually really like the Aleene's Ultimate Glue Gun, which you can find at Michaels. It's a dual-temp one which comes with 4 interchangeable tips, and the cord is removeable. $30 here in the states, but you can get it for at least half that with a coupon!
Our most common glue guns here in Australia are colour coded for the size and type of glue sticks that they use, and the general one is pink, but I honestly think that they'll compare to your lower 2 options. And I've seen floral ones also.
This was really helpful since I didn't know that they are qualities on a hot glue gun ,I just wanted a small cheap glue gun now I have found just that I love the winner thank you so much
i loooved this, you guys should do more of these videos with different supplies, etc! my favorite part was the lil nicknames (ie. hometown hero, underdog, etc)
You should check out the ryobi 18+ glue gun. I have a bunch of ryobi tools and love them and while if your just going to use only the glue gun it's expensive to buy the battery and charger just for it but it's a great gun.
For anyone wondering, the 'underdog' gun is just a generic $4 gun from AliExpress rebranded all over the place on Amazon. Theoretically it doesn't matter which of the Amazon links you get it from, just look for guns with the same trigger and power button and it'll be equivalent to what's reviewed here.
You guys should do testing scissors, yarn, transfer paper and permanent markers. I am a diyer and I would love to see that. Love you guys SO much and hope you continue your channel. p.s. Does anyone else want more pet videos?!?
But which ones were high temperature and which ones are low temperature? 🤔 I know that different glue guns have different temperatures for different projects/mediums.

Girls! Could you please try and make a paravent/room divider? The nice ones or sooo expensive!! Also, could you try yourself at making those traditional japanese "paper walls"? Maybe a combination of both? 😍😊 I'm totally obsessed with minimal traditional japanese style 😍😍
Wouldn't the brand of glue stick itself affect flow and dry time? Depending on the formula it would be thinner therefore more flow or it may dry faster regardless of the gun itself
I have a little light purple glue gun that has that issue of not gripping the glue sticks. The one I bought years ago from a cheap shop worked better, but I left that for my mum to use. Those weird brand ones can definitely be winners.
Dual Temperature guns are a revelation. When you need high bonding, use a high temperature setting. When you need delicate adhesion and fast cool down use a low temp. You should try the ryobi brand glue gun it runs off of a battery and is suppose to last about 3 hours per battery charge and best part it’s completely cordless.
Kelsey's little space buns are sooo cute!!
EDIT: wow I didn't think I'll get so many likes. Thanks you guys
I would buy Sorry girls diy merchandise. Wish list- cute glue gun, ruler, scissors, pen, pencil, hammer, tape measure......!!!!!!!!!

I agree! Random Glue gun leaks are the worse.

Dry time is kind of relative, depending on what you are using it for. Besides it probably depends more on the glue stick itself than on the glue gun.
bohemianlali I agree. I was thinking exactly the same 👍
Glue guns come in 40, 60, 70 etc. watts, basically the more watts, the hotter the glue becomes?

Can you guys DIY a wall grid panel for hanging things like polaroids?? Something better and more durable then wire.
THIS IS THE TRUTH!!! I was wondering about construction glue guns that carpenters use!!! What an amazing video IDEA!!! Yes!!!
I want to know how easily they fall over while sitting and heating, and whether they leak when sitting there.

I have some cute glue guns that are floral and light blue. I wonder how they would compare to the winner. Might have to try that out

I have a ryobi hot glue gun. It's big and bulky, and heavy with the battery pack but it's cordless, works well, and I use the battery pack for my other ryobi tools.
Meanwhile in Canada, we talk about glue guns 😂 ❤️👏🏼
you should totally make your own line of DIY tools! I have a zebra print glue gun but it’s the cheap Michaels kind. Also finding high heat glue guns is a struggle too!
I just had a DIY fail because of my Michaels glue gun so I thank you so so so much for doing this video!
Does anyone know the brand name, I have looked on Australian Amazon, there are a few that look the same but different colour, just need a brand name, please?
OMG I USE THE GLUE GUN THAT CAME IN LAST!!! Thank you for doing this... I've been looking into getting a new glue gun. Also Kelsy I love your hair!
Does this mean size doesn’t matter? Lol love your videos 💕
when i click on the link for the underdog one.....does NOT ship to Canada ☹️
you should really try the ryobi one plus glue gun since you already have ryobi tools and batteries
its cordless if that wasn't already obvious
I really needed this comparison! Thanks guys, now I know which glue gun to get. We've had 2 glue guns in my family and both were very subpar, and the smaller one is not heating properly anymore. :( I love your videos. 💗
What about the Bosch Hot Glue Pen?
this is a really good idea i'm glad you guys did it! i've had a dollar store glue gun (which okay, it only cost me totaly like $3) which was a total waste of time/money/EVERYTHING and now i have a better one but this wud have helped to save me the trip
“*breaks* 5 STARS!” what is this system hahahah
I have a yellow one from Home Depot. I think it’s Stanley. It’s pretty good, especially if I need it to be hotter for my project, I think the only think good about the little cheap glue guns is that they don’t get as hot so it’s a little safer to use around kids.
what about the actual glue used? i have a hot glue gun, but find the few brands of glue ive used dont really stick, and what i make falls apart easily
...and if you love it make sure you sub it, ... ...and if you want MORE, make sure you spon- SOR!.... I really hope that you girls like this, I hope you find it cute or whatever, I love you guys... 😻🍭
Bostik Handy Glue Gun all the waaaaayyy!!! 😂 I've had it for 12+ years, use it alllllll the time and it's still going strong!! 💪 I'm in the UK though so I'm not sure what the availability is elsewhere. Loved this video! It's so me 😆 Thank you ladies 😘 x
How can i buy this Patec glue gun in Australia with Australian plug? :)
You should try the AdTech (Adhesive Technologies) two-temp cordless glue gun and the Mod Podge Mod Melter by Plaid Crafts.
American crafts make a cordless glue gun you should try it out. I have a pink one I have seen they now come in a turquoise / blue colour so bonus cute points💕 would love to see it in like this with you ladies 😊
You guys should make a merchandise 😍 i myself will definitely buy everything you two will sell
I got one from dollar tree like a year ago its pink and its super super good just uses normal glue sticks
You should try the ryobi brand glue gun it runs off of a battery and is suppose to last about 3 hours per battery charge and best part it’s completely cordless.
Omg PLEASE create a line of DIY tools like Glue Guns, Multi-tools, etc. !
thanks this was really helpful
if you made your own line of awesome, cute glueguns I would honestly buy one! been using the same one since forever
Heck yeah! I would definitely go for a Sorry Girls glue gun
