Meoni the flooring IS NOT TIED to the main building!!! You are free to customize the the Paths, Slopes, and Grounds independently of the main building by clicking on the Cozy Cabin Logboard outside the main building then selecting "Change the hideaway's appearance." This will let you select the flooring you want for those 3 areas independently of each other and the main building
@SoraMotto quote from 4:47-4:54 "this is tied hideaway so if you don't like the new floor you will have to revert the hideaway main building as well, so bare that in mind", this quote implies that the floorings and main building are linked and that changing one automatically changes the other by default which it's the case
After I had painstakingly placed items perfect for vistas meant for certain times of the day. I found out that if I change the paths all my items would be removed. So, for now, I'm stuck with what I got when I upgraded.
My idea for an upgrade to the sanctuary: A vacation home, an actual cottage where indoor items can be placed. That will insure most if not everyone will visit their island in the future.
I hope Islands don't get left behind and forgotten. It would even be nice if they add new rewards in the future such as other new looks for the cabin/workshops etc and the odd quest every now and then with new visitors/Tatatru. Anything is better than it being left behind like garrisons in World of Warcraft
I fear for that too. Fact remains once you hit the max rank (which goes pretty fast even if not pushing it), there isn't a whole lot left to do and nothing at all you can do as a group activity, which is a shame. Nice your friends can visit but they'll be bored. And the island is an ecosystem on its own so nothing you gather there means anything in the open world, other than the mounts and collectables.
They literally already said it's getting left behind in interviews with Famitsu/Dengeku magaize. There will be a small update to rewards in 7.0 (probably materia 11 and 12, maybe dyes), and that's it. No more ranks or content in 7.0 and beyond. Eureka was 1-and-done, Bozja was 1-and-done, Diadem was 1-and-done, Island is now 1-and-done. Not sure what people expected.
They should really add that your visitor to the island can pick stuff too while you're doing stuff because it's kinda lame that you're friend can visit but it's stuck there just staring at you while you picking things.
It's sad as I think a lot of the feedback to Island Sanctuary was tainted from the start by people who either had massively exaggerated expectations for it or by people who grinded and spreadsheeted it to death such that they were burnt out on it in a week (despite the devs saying repeatedly both that the island was NOT going to be housing or a full Animal Crossing/Stardew Valley game in FF14 and that the island was intended as casual, long term content). And of course there were also the people who hated IS even existing because they viewed it as taking away a Eureka or Bozja style combat zone experience. So, yeah, while IS does have it's problems (some of which were fixed over time) there were a substantial amount of players who essentially hated on it for no reason and this sort of poisoned the well. The developers were never really going to get proper, objective opinions on the content so I can't say I was surprised when I heard they were essentially ending IS development. Personally I just hope that the next bit of lifestyle content we do get learns the lessons from the missteps of IS and that players actually give it a chance.
Yeah, agree on this one. Those who expected it as the next "housing" etc etc and where not even listening to the developers to actually "manage expectations"...sheesh. But I do hope that the FFXIV Devs take a look back at some of the previous contents and update them such as the Airships in your Free Companies or the Diadem. I thoroughly enjoyed those as well aside from Island Sanctuary.
I disliked Island Sanctuary and it's none of the reasons you mention. It's because it did not build on any existing system (even though it begs to involve at least gathering and crafting) and it has no social component whatsoever. I like the idea of having a chill non-battle zone to do life-style stuff in, but not like that. "Life style content", as every piece of content, should work as a cohesive piece of content in Final Fantasy XIV, not be siloed as some standalone solo mini-game that gives you nice glams once in a while. The fact that Island Sanctuary ate the Eureka lunchbox is only frustrating because it was not good content while Eureka and Bozja WERE good content.
@@benoitrousseau4137 Sure, and there's nothing wrong with having an opinion on the IS content. As I said, it has some very notable flaws and a proper discussion is warranted.. but that's not what a lot of people want. A lot of people just want to complain about it because it either wasn't content designed specifically for their personal tastes or because it didn't live up to their completely imagined expectations. Though I'm not quite sure why you feel it "ate the Eureka and Bozja" lunchbox because we did get extra battle content in EW in the form of a new Deep Dungeon and the entire Variant/Criterion dungeon system (plus a complete PvP overhaul). Maybe you would have preferred an open world combat zone as opposed to those instanced ones and/or PvP but IS didn't take any anyway battle content. Also, given the amount of people who complained about Eureka and Bozja (while some demanded a new DD and hard mode 4 person content) it's pretty easy to see why the devs went away from open world combat zones for EW. (and ( say that as someone who also enjoyed Eureka and Bozja)
We have to be realistic here and also acknowledge that Island Sanctuaries were very poorly communicated. It was first mentioned with a screenshot showing your minions and was said to be a place where you can relax and have your minions walk around. Very little useful information was given and we had to wait a long time to get any useful information let alone even get to see what it looked like!
Thanks Meoni for this video! I haven't played this game for a bit (only played when island just came out) so it's nice to see you can do so much now on the island!
I really like the wristwatch item, and I will absolutely use it in some glamours as it is, though I can't help but wish that it and the previous Island Resort Round Wristwatch were wrist slot accessories instead of taking up the hand slot. Changing them to that, or even making new wrist slot items that happen to use the same models would be great, allowing them to be glamoured alongside items like false nails, various non-bulky gloves, sleeves like the new Tactical Armlets, and so on.
I haven't finished the video (in case you mention it later), but you can change the paving, pathways, and stairs types independently from the hideaway and each other. I believe it's accessible through the hideaway board, and it costs glam prisms to do so.
Definitely agree that taking your time on your island is great. I too, have grown fond of my island. All I can say is enjoy the game and play through everything you want to do before DT

Really good point from Meoni about gathering things that aren't just quick to harvest. Gathering the items that are also used a lot might overall be a better use of your time. My list of things I'm always short of is sap, sugarcane, laver, copper ore - -they don't all have a quick easy loop unfortunately, but some do. So, my suggestion is to powerlevel with items that are used a lot rather than items that are just easy to harvest.
Thank you Meoni. I have mixed thoughts on it, really. it was marketed as casual, chill, but it continued to iterate, to this place where its now another rabbit hole of try hard, to min max, etc. I've kept it going, but have pretty much approached as automate whatever I can, let it run, I still use the lazy man's presets on agendas, as opposed to the newer min max stuff, the casual discord folks do. and this new feature, seems to me, to only add to the try hard place we have ended up in. so, Im happy for the folks that dig that, go for it, but I really never wanted to spend too much time min maxing it. and I've made a vow to not grind to max this time, let it happen over time.
I really hope they keep up with updates to this, nothing major, the work is done now, but im thinking of NPCs visiting after certain side quests are done, nothing massive just characters you've got to know, i would love to see Graha and Y'shtola have a relaxing visit for example.
That was a pretty somber ending, and i do agree. As Island Sanctuary isn't partially my favorite, very much so in this form (Wish it was more of a farming sim than whatever we got.) I did enjoy my time anyhow. As the time as im writing this im 63760/70000 exp to rank 19. And i really enjoyed making my own island the way it was, i really do hope it isn't the end but all we can do is hope i guess. Thanks for the videos by the way! You really helped me through and see what i'd go for on this endeavor. ♥
The copy agenda is my favourite addition to the island this patch, although I do really like all the cosmetic upgrades to the island and the felicitous favour system. I do feel like it'd probably a good point for them to leave the sanctuary development and just give it a smattering of new rewards every now and then - outdoor items will always be new things to play with on the sanctuary, but I know for me the odd mount, minion, or other reward for the currencies are what will get me returning to the island every now and then. My hope for next expansion is that they try something a bit different with the lifestyle content, because the island has grown into a pretty nice if limited and not quite what people were hoping for piece of content. As single player content rather than battle content requiring other players, it's totally healthy for them to do a soft retirement of the content in order to try again with the lessons learnt. My personal dream for next expansion's version (spoiler for 6.5 msq) is that it's a void restoration mission where we can bring in npcs from the msq and various relevant side quests, who could each unlock some new functionality to the zone, and slowly restore a part of the 13th. I don't think restoring the void will ever be an expansion because it'd feel disingenuous to do it without eden and shadowbringers' final role quest tying back into it, but those are not likely to ever be required for msq, especially forcing people to level and play every role. But if we had some lifestyle content that doesn't require the quests, but gets more systems unlocked if you did them, that could be a very satisfying plot line to tie to lifestyle content, with a bit more substance than just hanging out on an island as a break after EW msq.
A quick not-really-important coreection: Felicitous Favors unlocks at 19, after completing the Tataru quest from the Curious Courier. Source: I just unlocked mine and I am still 15000 XP from level 20 and I am dying atop this damn mountain.
So, there HAS to be at least one more quest at some point. Mine is at 20, with everything fully upgraded and Curious Courier says that there will be one last group of visitors. No idea if that's in this patch and I just haven't met the requirement or if it's going to be out in 6.55
You can actually ignore it for 2 weeks in a row. When you come back, set your crafts for current and next week, then claim it all in 2 weeks again when it's done.
People ask why there never anything to do....cause ya power through the content and bam nothing to do. Take your time you will get to max enjoy the content cause once January comes we won't have no more new content till 7.0
It’s rather sad they don’t want to do more for the sanctuary. With the housing issues I found the sanctuary to be a good alternative. There is so much they can add to it
Honestly, I feel that the island should be the (much needed) silver bullet for housing. It's phased. Everyone has their own island. We're able to travel to each other's islands. All that needs to be implemented, is a larger item count, and the allowance of indoor furniture. Potentially add an actual 'housing' building onto the island - but otherwise, I'd be happy to call my island sanctuary home.
why does noone even mention the amount of furniture slots? ._. Are we still stuck with 90 items on lvl 20? and still 50 minions? Would be great to know. Thank you.
I would be fine with them doing something similar to, but different from, island sanctuary for each new expansion. Something that was for THAT time but not an anchor preventing you from moving forward. If they continued to add rewards for the content for some time after it was no longer the newest thing, that would be even better. Say, adding things which can be purchased for favors over the life of Dawntrail and the expansion to follow before letting it be part of the revered past.
Agreed, a few new rewards for the island so it'll always be there in the background for those who want to check it out, but moving dev time to something new and interesting in the same vein would be nice. Especially since over the course of the expansion the island has gotten way better qol and become far more substantial content in terms of upgrades, side quests, and rewards for anyone starting it now than at the start of the expansion - even if the new lifestyle content next expansion also launches with a humble amount of stuff to do the fundamentals will hopefully be a better version of the formula to add stuff to over the next expansion.
Someone on my server already has the Island Adenium Mount and is sitting AFK showing it off in Drydocks. How on EARTH could they already have it? Is it possible there's some other way to earn the new currency you need? It seems like it's time-gated and the rate you earn the currency is limited, and yet some folks already have it? Anyone have any insight? Maybe there are more ways to earn the currency out there?
Let the Squadron transfer to our Island. Level 21 above should have them go on voyages and excavations, new landmark should be a small port, then further down the line airship landing. Scions and more npc visits that doesn't need to come from quests. Just random visits. Then they update you with what they're up to.
Hmmm you say it might be the last update, but I remember Tataru saying at the very end after her visit that there was one more group of people she would like to bring over to visit... I wonder when they plan to add that. it just has to be the Scions, bit weird they're the only ones who haven't visited yet :)
Man I love that polo shirt glam lol thats honestly what I want from this new patch rewards! Irl thats my type of clothes some good old Polo 👕 shirt with short pants - I know people dont like it because it looks nerdy and like dad looking but I freaking love it ❤️
Felicitous Favors can be unlocked at rank 19 with all buildings at rank 5, and the items you need to craft are NOT the same for everyone R.I.P just crafting the stuff from the island bot in discord LoL.
9:00 -- It can get draining? You have no idea. I am not even blinking once at that grind. I love the grind. You're speaking to a man who owns the Pteronodon, the Flame Warsteed, AMARO, and all the gill sink gold mounts. Grinding is what I do. You just got to get into it man! It's like mastering a savage raid for guys who do that. Going in blind with a premade party and figuring it out.
I been enjoying the island, but i wished it wasnt so static. I wish they made it so you can place building anywhere you want and create a town different from everyone else.
I can settle with never getting another update to Island Sanctuary under one condition: They add horses. There was a horse in the promotional art, where are my horses???
They should at least include a roofed part on the animal pen as well. stables on higher levels where you can stable your faves. let the rest roam about free range. It's just sad to see them when it's raining. And the glass thing needs to be patched. literally. skylight directly to the pillow then it rains. come on.
Am I the only one who hates the aesthetic of those red brick industrial buildings? I mean, come on... it's an island sanctuary. Totally killing that relaxing vibe.
I actually agree. As nice as some of the buildings are in a vacuum, they just don't really fit on a small tropical island. Once I reached level 16 and confirmed the lovely little island was looking like an industrial wasteland I reverted pretty much everything back to the second upgrade tier visually. Even put the grassy ground back in place as the paving stones just made the whole place look too over civilized (even if I would love them in small sections as an outdoor housing item)
I was really hoping for a modern resort looking appearance for the new buildings. Kind of disappointed. The red brick ground I find quite awful. I feel like it clashes with everything instead of bounces. Alas we he island prims.
The way he said vegetal was so jarring for some reason lol. It makes more sense to pronounce it like veh-juh-tuhl because I'm assuming it's supposed to be like vegetable.
@@drzoidberg71 i was unaware the game would save 2 weeks worth of rewards, normally the game isnt that generous with their timers. seems that gave some people a huge boost
My only "problem" is the mammets. They are just... everywhere. I don't know why but their design feels so out of place for me - so much they are ruining my immersion of the whole Island. Probably just a matter of taste, but I wished I just could just "switch" them on and off ;-)
Better yet, they should have made it the squadron people instead. They are now free from grand company duties, now they help you furnish an island as their new adventure. see them walking around island, assign tasks to them. I hope more people cry about the mammets so Yoshi P hears and the next 10 levels after 20 would be about populating the island.
Can someone enlighten me to something that happened in frontline pvp. A ninja marked target to ignore was jumping on the spot the whole match and was regenerating health very fast. We couldn’t KO the player. So we just went on with the match. Is this a GM or a cheater? Can’t find anything anywhere on it.
@@O.M- thankyou so much for the reply. Yeah it’s so strange. Every pvp I see ninjas marking themselves and jumping and just evading huge groups of us damaging them hardly. Today one was in that camera thing, where the camera icon was above it, and I started damaging it and it suddenly disappeared. Gotta not get emotional as it makes me angry.
The worst part is the favors. The fact that the mount takes 200 vouchers (7 months of grinding.) and the material container has a RNG mount aswell. Yes you can buy the vegetal vouchers on the MB, it takes WAYYY too long.
I do like island sanctuary, but it also feels like it failed to meet most of my hopes by only going halfway. I really wanted to enjoy a farmer life, so having more crop plots even if only a few would be nice due to the sheer variety of crops, given the variety of animals I at least wish I had enough room to collect all the rare ones. Most of all The housing situation in the game has always been awful and island sanctuary would have been a blessing if it offered and actual house for the player to decorate which could free up housing in the wards to fc's. Even if that only came at a maximum rank or something... This all sounds rather ungrateful, I do like the content, but perhaps my hopes as a lover of farming games got the better of me and spoiled this content.
For me, Island sanctuary activity will live or die by whether they add the next expansion's materia to it. Don't think they will tbh. Otherwise there just won't be enough value to go out there. Dyes are nice, but there's limited demand. The mount will probably be worth a lot but that's a big time investment. Whereas Materia was such an easy dump for personal use and quick guaranteed gil
not even rank 10 and I just can't bring myself to get involved with the factory sim that is seemingly the focus of the Island Sanctuary gameplay. Would have preferred something closer to Harvest Moon or Animal Crossing.
People say they love stuff to grind but they min max everything to an optimal level with little effort. But tbf they should have patched the island sanctuary to make it more difficult to autobot by putting in time gates.
No additional room for more animals, despite them adding more animals the last two patches and no more room to grow more plants despite them adding more seeds for the last two patches as well... feels bad. Dissappointing. Also why do robots need two days rest? I never understood the need for that...

It reminds me of "Mist" :O I love it! My island is lvl14, is there a quick way to lvl it up?
So, there HAS to be at least one more quest at some point. Mine is at 20, with everything fully upgraded and Curious Courier says that there will be one last group of visitors. No idea if that's in this patch and I just haven't met the requirement or if it's going to be out in 6.55
I actually like the reward glam XD Its something my husband would wear and joke at him that I'm cosplaying as him in game.
Its summer camp counselor glam! 😂
Just ignore the island and come back within a week to check the schedule items
You can actually ignore it for 2 weeks in a row. When you come back, set your crafts for current and next week, then claim it all in 2 weeks again when it's done.
The outfit is the twinning dance meme outfit. So just dye the shirt one of the 4 colors and emote away
People ask why there never anything to do....cause ya power through the content and bam nothing to do. Take your time you will get to max enjoy the content cause once January comes we won't have no more new content till 7.0
how long does it take to get to rank 20 from the beginning? i still havent started my sanctuary
It’s rather sad they don’t want to do more for the sanctuary. With the housing issues I found the sanctuary to be a good alternative. There is so much they can add to it
it would have been nice and a good return to how they handle 1.0 housing which was give players their own house instance.
I hope the furniture is expanded from 90 to 120 in the future since we can store 120 already.
Thank you, Meoni! For no lifing the game so that I can see all the stuff at rank 20.
Honestly, I feel that the island should be the (much needed) silver bullet for housing. It's phased. Everyone has their own island. We're able to travel to each other's islands.
All that needs to be implemented, is a larger item count, and the allowance of indoor furniture. Potentially add an actual 'housing' building onto the island - but otherwise, I'd be happy to call my island sanctuary home.
got that summer dad fit for rank 19.
Wonderful video!
Thanks for sharing!
why does noone even mention the amount of furniture slots? ._. Are we still stuck with 90 items on lvl 20? and still 50 minions? Would be great to know. Thank you.
The island outfit reminds me of the “I had to do it to em” guy
There is supposed a quest for island in 6.55 patch, I think.
Is that the one for the Recreationisle set?
the outfit is cute, yeah, now i just need to find 5 spots in my glam dresser for it :D
I was hoping they were going to eventually lead us into a giant open cave with a small decoratable house inside of it lol.
How do you get to the island?
Someone on my server already has the Island Adenium Mount and is sitting AFK showing it off in Drydocks. How on EARTH could they already have it? Is it possible there's some other way to earn the new currency you need? It seems like it's time-gated and the rate you earn the currency is limited, and yet some folks already have it? Anyone have any insight? Maybe there are more ways to earn the currency out there?
It is possible to get it in the lockboxes as well
@@mahouhana ohhh. That might explain it! A couple people getting really lucky with the first possible lockboxes. Thanks!
Thank you for the overview! Take time to rest ❤️
They need to add a mop emote they only got a sweeping emote you cant sweep rain what are they thinking?
Oh that’ll look good on my Christmas Island
Currently have over 500,000 cowries, bought everything and not enough items added to spend them on. 😒
On my original main character, island sanctuary was really fun and relaxing.
I farmed max rank fast last time for the baronial set but don't think I have the energy this time
Let the Squadron transfer to our Island. Level 21 above should have them go on voyages and excavations, new landmark should be a small port, then further down the line airship landing.
Scions and more npc visits that doesn't need to come from quests. Just random visits. Then they update you with what they're up to.
Ya i just did this causally
And here I am taking this casually as intended, still at rank 18. Man you all really can take a casual content and turn it up to 100...
I really hope they do more in Dawntrail I like Island Sanctuary.
It's Meover.
I will sob if this was the last update.
mm didnt you miss a landmark or two
I hope they let us put the squadron here instead of the barracks, kinda lonely with just mammets. And assign them around like the minions.
amazeing what se will do to keep people paying
9:00 -- It can get draining? You have no idea. I am not even blinking once at that grind. I love the grind. You're speaking to a man who owns the Pteronodon, the Flame Warsteed, AMARO, and all the gill sink gold mounts. Grinding is what I do.
You just got to get into it man! It's like mastering a savage raid for guys who do that. Going in blind with a premade party and figuring it out.
Ngl i feel like the magic is kind of gone when the building start using full machinery instead of using fire or windmill to power things 😂
lmao someone has the mount up for 600 mil in ragnarok right now, wonder how they got it
I been enjoying the island, but i wished it wasnt so static. I wish they made it so you can place building anywhere you want and create a town different from everyone else.
I can settle with never getting another update to Island Sanctuary under one condition: They add horses. There was a horse in the promotional art, where are my horses???
I just wish we got at least 20 exp per gather...
Lot better take on the isle, lesson learned.
They should at least include a roofed part on the animal pen as well. stables on higher levels where you can stable your faves. let the rest roam about free range. It's just sad to see them when it's raining. And the glass thing needs to be patched. literally. skylight directly to the pillow then it rains. come on.
Ah, but to make restraints I have to go hit things for a while.
O_O
I am late, I am stupid, I didn't know Rank 20 existed
I like the shoes, but they don't fit the rest of the outfit at all.
Most boring useless user unfriendly thing ever added to any mmo, the devs need training and they need to play other games and learn shit.
978 Premium Feed?! 💀
I can barely keep up 60 and I'm lv18 in Island Sanctuary!!
Am I the only one who hates the aesthetic of those red brick industrial buildings? I mean, come on... it's an island sanctuary. Totally killing that relaxing vibe.
Every upgrade has been worse than the last imo, going from island getaway to steampunk >_>
I'm stuck im level lv.5 and can't do any quests because there licked behind the blue currency.
Someone’s dad’s clothes as the glam
i'm confused how people are already maxed out again? theres no way to get more exp, ive been visiting every day since patch and im only halfway to 17
i'm sure a few nolifers literally grinded it manually, but i'm convinced most people who are max level every single patch instantly botted it.
@@drzoidberg71 i was unaware the game would save 2 weeks worth of rewards, normally the game isnt that generous with their timers. seems that gave some people a huge boost
people opened them already on my island discord. 7.X will be the end of ther island
I hope more people cry about the mammets so Yoshi P hears and the next 10 levels after 20 would be about populating the island.
jesus how are people rank 20 already O_O
Can someone enlighten me to something that happened in frontline pvp. A ninja marked target to ignore was jumping on the spot the whole match and was regenerating health very fast. We couldn’t KO the player. So we just went on with the match. Is this a GM or a cheater? Can’t find anything anywhere on it.
Probably a hacker and a troll if he had no healing buffs on him
I don't think GM's would turn god mode on during a PvP match
@@O.M- thankyou so much for the reply. Yeah it’s so strange. Every pvp I see ninjas marking themselves and jumping and just evading huge groups of us damaging them hardly. Today one was in that camera thing, where the camera icon was above it, and I started damaging it and it suddenly disappeared. Gotta not get emotional as it makes me angry.
The worst part is the favors. The fact that the mount takes 200 vouchers (7 months of grinding.) and the material container has a RNG mount aswell. Yes you can buy the vegetal vouchers on the MB, it takes WAYYY too long.
this game respects your time
I do like island sanctuary, but it also feels like it failed to meet most of my hopes by only going halfway.
With Xbox on the way they should make this proper private housing and turn the district's into FC only housing.
I don't think they will ever remember this island exist after this expansion is over. Sadly.
I still dont understand the point of Island Sanctuary other than a few rewards.
Personally, not a big fan of the island. It was cool at first, but I just reached rank 14 and the tedium is really starting to ramp up.
not even rank 10 and I just can't bring myself to get involved with the factory sim that is seemingly the focus of the Island Sanctuary gameplay.
This shit takes WAAAAAAAAY too long to level.
