I used my new Canon R8 outside in the Arizona heat 90 degrees F, on a gimble and it over heated within 20min shooting at 1080 but not continuously. I was not happy because i had to go indoors and later had to hand held shoot with a different camera. I am doing research now on these fans. i do car show content and a lot of outdoor events
Dam that must get warm. The fan should definitely improve your recording time but if I am being completely transparent I don’t think it will solve the issue. We need like a liquid hydrogen punch that sticks on the back 😂

Yeah it’s a bit of a shame. The camera is still amazing and doesn’t overheat that often. Unfortunately a lot of cameras in this price range have overheating as a possibility. Maybe the ZV-e1 or ZV-e10. 🫶
Dude... WHY would they even make a camera like this? It's not like it just slipped past. Sony KNEW it was overheating even when only doing 4k60, and after like 20 min. I'd be so jacked if I was working a shoot and doing something for a client, or especially something like a wedding, and the camera took a shit before the kiss. Dude, I'd feel terrible. You'd think for $1,500, you'd be into the price range where a camera just WORKS at the least. Even if you're shooting with cuts in between scenes/shots, that heat still stays passively inside. Start going without a break, and it's just gonna ovwrheat. This seems like the most balanced camera, some of the high end specs at midrange price, hybrid usage, ergonomics, features, a KILLER PRICE. Seems like the perfect camera for me, but this seems like it's kind of a big deal. Been watching and hoping firmware alleviated the issue, but still seems problematic even after 1.03. 1.03 firmware + fan, maybe?

Pretty solid product I would say. Not sure if it would fit A7Rv to film a podcast in 8K for reframing in 4K.

It's a shame about the overheating, sounds like the perfect camera. What do your recommend around same $ that doesn't overheat?

i don't think you're supposed to put your camera in the fridge.. wouldn't condensation form on the camera once you take it out of the fridge?

The a6700 is garbage for video unless you do really short clips. If you want to film your kids football game it isn’t going to happen.
