@@FelipeGarciaQuintino No, he's right, but not for the reason he thinks - she isn't singing live "more" than she has in other concerts because she's rarely ever not sung live in any of her shows. (I think I can count on one hand the number of times she's lip synced songs in her shows.)

Whether she's singing completly live or not I'm quite sure fans don't really care. She's fabulous, her show is to die for and she's doing the best that she can. Let's do not forget she's 65 and she's been sick so we only should have respect for this incredible living legend.

I noticed she sings most of the ballads live bc her, naturally deepened from age, voice still works with them. I even synced them up w the original recordings to double check. It’s so moving, bc I love and I know she loves her ballads. Live to Tell and Rain got me emotional! They’re some of my faves.

I think people get really hung up (see what I did there?) on comparing the tour version with the single/album "recording". It's not about that. Once Madonna decides what songs she wants to perform, and the order and interludes she wants to perform, they go to a sound stage or aircraft hanger and literally put the show together, including "live" recording all of the tracks. It's these that are then blended with her on the night mic vocal so what you hear coming out of the speakers is sometimes what she puts in on the night, and sometimes what she puts in on the night mixed with the pre-recorded tour vocal. Also, what you hear as an audience member is significantly different to what you would hear in these videos because those are recorded from the crowd, so you pick up all the reverb and ambient noise. This is just the way it's done now, but nobody talks about it. The last truly "live" show she did was Blond Ambition. Most of Drowned World was too, but by then you had the technology to do so much more and she used it. Ultimately, it doesn't matter as you go for the performance and not the vocal. This isn't an operatic recital nor does it claim to be. Yes, I was there, yes it sounded live, but with everyone singing (badly), it's very hard to hear.
I went to opening night and was pretty close. I would say that this video wasn’t the best quality to be able to truly hear her vocals… you could even hear people having a convo 😂 But what I can tell you is that it was absolutely phenomenal 🤩 Vocally she was better than she has been in a long time, which I was worried about following her illness. There was an issue with the sound during “Burning Up” and you could hear the track was faster than her live vocals, so 100% she’s singing live. They had to restart the sound and she spoke about her days struggling in her band for 10 mins! It was fab!! ❤ No live band, apart from the odd guitar and the piano during Bad Girl played by her daughter Mercy. All tracks from original recordings, but do include the backing vocals. Which there’s always been. She sounded awesome. Long live the queen👑
She had a bacterial infection, I can almost guarantee it was a UTI and they can be a killer when it gets into the bloodstream

I was there front row and it was definitely live vocals during the whole Bad Girl performance, her lips, breath and moves matched perfectly the vocals, regardless if it was the bridge or other parts of the song

To me being a best singer means being in touch with the strength of one's voice qualities. She is a great storytelling performance singer. She has her own rules and doesn't follow other's choir school rules.
I've always thought she lip-synced the rap/spoken part in Vogue but the other night in Antwerp she was having audio issues and during that part she says "I can't hear myself" to her team instead of singing the lyrics. I was actually shocked that it was live.
Anyway, I've seen the Celebration Tour three times now and it's just so good. She's coming back to London in December for two shows, you should try and get a ticket!
The spoken word part in Vogue where she names all the Icons has been live this tour which I was surprised as I think this is the first tour where that has happened.
I believe this is the first time she doesn't lip-sync the spoken part in Vogue. Even on Sticky & Sweet it was pre-recorded

Stuart Price has confirmed that M is singing live throughout the show. There is a vocal recording for the spoken word parts of Erotica (she sings the chorus live) and Justify my Love is pre recorded. He said that people have come up to him after the show at the mixing desk and said "come on she's mining" and he said I swear every part is live (with the exception of the previous mentioned). He confirmed that she has 🐝 working with her vocal coach again for this tour. For the first time since 2004's Re-Invention Tour. ❤️❤️ It would be great to get your perspective of the Live to Tell performance. She sounds great and the staging is just heartbreaking. ❤️❤️
Both Bad Girl and Bedtime Stories are two songs she only sang once on TV and never in a set list until now.

I saw Madonna in concert during her Reinvention tour. One thing I can say about Madonna is that she's obviously a perfectionist. Her tour was like a Swiss clock. And her vocals appeared to be all live and sounded very good

I agree! Her ballads are completely underrated. She has morphed her voice in so many ways to show vulnerability and have a distinct conviction, it’s really telling of her workmanship, vision and beautiful voice. Maybe not the strongest voice, but we have opera singers for that! Madonna goes above and beyond just a voice. She’s an artist of magnificent multitudes! Also, you can still go see her! Where do you live? Isn’t she going back to London?

I was there & it was a real fun show , u could definitely tell that she was lip syncing at parts & when she was REALLY singing over a backing track . I also think as long as people don’t expect Blonde ambition levels of high energy dancing for hours like young Madonna then they will enjoy it . I had a great time .P.S. I wasn’t going to go as I had become less of a fan over the last few years , however my ticket was gifted to me & I’m so glad I went as it takes u back to your childhood listening to the old hits & it is much better in person than when u see phone clips . If u get the chance to go please do as it was just so much fun , the mixes were fab , she sang well for the most part & of course her dancers are the best in the business as usual x

I think Madonna has shown from this tour that she doesn't have to sing all upbeat songs full of dancing...I always wondered how enjoyable a slowed down show with more slower songs would go with Madonna - but very happily I can say that she really impressed me when I was at the o2 watching her live. Great stage presence. I saw Rebel Heart tour live and also madam x tour live too. Im a huge fan and loved all the ballads in Celebration tour ... loved the whole show 🎉❤🎉
I went to this tour in Copenhagen few weeks ago and she was actually singing LIVE in most of her songs, and in this song in particular, she was LIVE.
I love when you review Madonna! You’re always fair and honest even if it slightly dents the pride of us Madonna lovers. I’d love to see more of your reactions from her past eras. She had such an interesting vocal range and style trajectory from the 80s to the late 90s.
You’re correct, it’s an intricate mix of live vocal and backtrack/ lip sync that’s tailored to her current abilities.
She’s given us years and years of amazing and inspirational dance music and live performances. At this point in her career I just want her to have fun and enjoy herself on the stage. If momma wants to catch her breath and lip sync a number, GO FOR IT!

I saw this live and it was unbelievably good, raw and one of my faves. I was so surprised she did it, the proper die hard Madge fans were singing along. 😍I think it was also beautiful she had one of her kids playing the piano!

I’ve been to every show since 2004 including The Celebration Tour. Bad girl was a really stunning part of the show. She most definitely sang live on this and throughout the show. There is bound to be a lot of production, it’s a massive show. Bad girl was a stripped back part & for me was beautiful. It’s a live show as far as I’m concerned. If she was to have assistance in places I really couldn’t care or feel cheated ect.. Shes Madonna! Forever in awe!

Ive watched various tapes of this tour. I can tell you that she is not lip syncing. She cant move or dance much due to her knee, so she is singing live, but there is an optional backing track that occasionally accompanies her, but to me this is mostly live. There is no live band, Stuart Price said he created the prerecorded entire concert track, with occasionally has some background vocals recorded as well. I think she gave the best live vocals since " Blind Ambition". Yes, she lio synced plenty in the past, but I think she's using her inability to move as much as an opportunity to do more good live vocals. There are so many concert videos posted. Watch the Ines that are from up close where you can see her lips. This is cell phone sound. Now I'm sure they'll mess with and re-do her vocals in the studio for the concert video or film, and it will not sound as life because they always make it sound too perfect.

I attended the show last night in Montreal. It was a show-stopping spectacle! ❤🎉 very story telling, she never fails to amaze me with her creativity and energy on stage. Definitely worth every penny 💰

Not always. The Who’s that girl tour was totally live, with no musical base at all. She started using it and lipsync from the Blond Ambition tour onwards.
A lot of the time she sings to a backing track and she does lipsynch. Elton John has called her out on this

Just back from the Antwerp show. Majority of the vocals were absolutely live, with some pretty subtle backing track support. The spoken word parts in Justify My Love and Erotica were lipsynced, and in absolutely fine with that.

Even though I’m a huge Madonna fan, I can admit Madonna isn’t the strongest singer, she’s no Whitney Houston. However, what surprised me is that she still sings live, atleast 90% of the time. And the fact that she’s still dancing and singing at 65. Best concert I’ve ever went too!
Hiii, great video, she did actually do a live performance of Bad Girl on SNL in 1993, which is in the original key, seemingly 100% live and I think is very good :) even if some parts are a bit strained

Even my sister was made a Madonna fan seeing by her live. In her sticky and sweet tour Madonna had her female dancers dress up in different styles of her when she performed She’s Not Me it was great. And I’m with you Breathless Madonna is my favorite and her ballads: crazy for you, lice to tell, you’ll see. I would love to see you react to some of her older stuff like the blonde ambition tour when she was in her prime. I’ve always thought she’s been underrated as a singer. I think she has a phenomenal voice. This tour will be the celebration of her career and I love seeing her sit down some and wearing a knee brace. It’s reality and I don’t want to see her hurt herself for us. ❤ I’m always excited when you react to her! Best with your new shop you are a go getter!

I saw her this Saturday in Antwerp and it was an incredible night. I had such a blast. This was actually my favourite bit. The piano, the way it was set up, the lighting, her daughter playing the piano and the fact that she played this song. I love love lovee the Erotica album and this was such a surprise to hear her play. It was all so beautiful. I did think she sounded really good, but after your analysis Im starting to think that she might have mixed it up with syncs. Great night regardless. Love your videos, much love 💛💛💛

This show was everything live. I seen 2 nights at the o2 and then 1 last weekend in Antwerp. There is definitely backing vocals (I don’t think there are any backup singers) I think they have used vocal stems as back up. She sang along with herself I think. Not so much lipsync but a mix of her own vocal stems with live vocal. Regardless, the show was EPIC
Not everything. The everybody vocal was mixed. And if you were at opening night youd know the backing track was there during burning up.
I was there and she sings live, although there are moments where the backing track is blending in more. It's very well done in my opinion. And I don't care because Madonna is more than a singer, I'm not there for a singing contest, at least she sounds better than ever and you mostly hear her live. Her show is amazing and she is telling her story with her songs. She is meeting her incarnations and younger selves on stage, talks to them, kisses and embraces them. At the end all dancers are dressed Madonna in one of her iconic looks. The show is unique and sometimes emotional. Bad girl is actually a highlight for me.

I just watched a better quality video of this song in th O2 in London and she sings live of course with a backing track. In that video you can even see the "famous" Madonna throat and neck muscle strain whilst she is singing. I am a Madonna fan since '84 and I also passed on buying a ticket for this tour. (I have to pay my energy bill..)😉 But seeing footage from the concert my heart is crying a bit for not going. I think this concert tour is her best vocal, and we all know she isn't a pure vocalist, performance since the Girlie show where the emphasis also was on her vocal performance. Finally a real live singing Madonna show and I certainly don't mind she is holding back on the dancing. As I said, she isn't a pure vocalist but she sure puts emotion in her singing and I love that.
For that reason my fave performances are The look of love from the Who's that girl tour and Rain from the Girlie show. Technically not the best vocal performance but it makes it up with her presence and the emotions she poors in. Also, I still think she needs at least Donna De Lory as her backing vocalist during live performances. Donna's voice helps to boost Madonna's voice, which completes the sound.

I think she sang mostly live, but yes, on top of the pre-recorded backing track. As I've always been saying, Madonna sings live whenever she can, and we can't be comparing her vocal skills to Mariah Carey or Celine Dion. Madonna is not just about her singing abilities, but I think she does just fine with what she has. I'll probably have more comments after I've watched the show. So excited!
People think the only way to be a good singer is to have some huge belting voice. That's not the only way to sing. Janet doesn't sing like that. Many artists don't sing like that.

At 10:03 there are two voices you can hear when she does the vocals (when she says "this waaaay...."). I think she is not 100% lipsyncing during the chorus, but a base voice comes louder than the microphone to support her. Just a guess.
I'm 48 and I would hate to know I had to sing about 40 songs in two hours. LOL. Ugh!! Bravo to Madonna!!!
She hasnt done 40 songs on this tour yet. First 3 shows she had a curfew. Not sure if it was the same reason in Belgium.

Hi Georgina I think Madonna's vocals in this tour are absolutely stunning.
I met someone who worked on her MDNA tour and he confirmed that Madonna did sing live. But she did have a backup singer show sounded very similar to her voice that backed her vocal.
Madonna is fabulous.
I was at London's opening night. A surreal experience. It was a stunning spectacle and tour de force of hit after hit. Plenty of emotion too.
There was an issue with her vocals all the way through, not just on Burning Up.
In my opinion the system was a little too bassy and her vocal channel wasn't quite loud enough for the cavernous arena.
She was singing live in most part, but with technical wizardry from StuartPrice 'as and when' live. Perhaps also live autotune via Price , because when she was singing live, it sounded kind of snatched like the heavy live autotune during her Madame X tour, which I also saw at The Palladium.
I'm not aven criticising it, it worked for the staging and the sheer scale/acoustics of the arena. Her voice isn't known for being the strongest and she has always interwoven a reworked vocal sound from the analogue days to the digital era. The original Like a Virgin vocals were transposed artificially. I feel that it's her thing. She knows what she is and what she isn't. She's shrewd. She was never gonna stand there in a bin bag without the smoke and mirrors. Lol. I'm gonna try and go again in December.
She sang this particular song live. I was there. She was actually taking vocal lessons before this tour. Yes, she did lipsync some songs, for example, Ray of Light, Vogue, Justify my Love and others. But this song was 100% live.

This is live vocals, Stuart Price has confirmed this past week. Madonna underwent extensive vocal training for this tour. I'd love to see you react to her MET Gala performance of Hallelujah!
It's autotune - yes, it is a "live" performance, but the technology changes the keys that she's singing in to the keys as written in the song before the voice goes out of the speakers (and yes, it happens in nanoseconds during the concert). Plenty of videos on UA-cam about how this is done in live performances. They were autotuning her vocals in the choruses, hence the detectable variances between her vocals in the verses and the choruses. Yes, I've seen her live. Yes, I'm a big fan.

I saw recently in Barcelona , on november 1st. and she really sang this one and all live. Is not lip synced. I was on first line. She sounds beautiful and with her real hability and ver well vocals.!!!

She was still collaborating with Patrick Leonard who is a musical genius and wrote and played on most of her very best work.

I just returned from Madonna's concert in Milan and I followed your advice: a few photos and videos and the most of time I enjoyed the moment singing and screaming, without paying attention to the fact that those around me didn't do the same.

Nah, it was definitely NOT all live, I'd say 40% live at best... for the reasons Georgina gave. Very obvious to anyone who knows music.
Been to two tours in her hometown... worked for Ticketmaster for a few years (so saw huge number of concerts), and Madonna ties for the best concerts ever. Seriously spent bank on the two tours, but was worth it. Now it's insane though. See her at least once.

Let’s not forget Madonna was in a coma only a couple of months if that ago. So to be able to put a show on like she has, in my opinion is fucking amazing! I love this woman and she can sing. I bet there’s not many people who could dance their asses off and sing the way she does. She is a perfectionist and bloody brilliant one at that 🖤
I've watched the tour 3 times now, and a lot of the tour she's literally just singing over the recorded version of the songs. There's no band or background singers. It's like they basically pushed play on a CD player, and she walked out on stage singing to it. I noticed a lot of her 80s songs were a couple of octaves lower than the original versions. She'd often mixed up lyrics or got them wrong at times. You can hear the backing vocal sing something completely different. She went in and out vocally, some times you could hear her clearly, and then she lipped certain parts. Like Erotica was completely lipsynched. Bad Girl, she actually sang most of it live. I'm glad she did it. It's been since 1993 the last time she did it live.
I think she’s live here because she got bits of the lyrics wrong in the very beginning of the song, but she’s indeed using a backing track on other songs.
