Bjoern, you're a real legend man.
These ones are so easy this episode
For the 1st round, slight alternative:
50+2=52
52*4=208
208+3=211
For the 3rd round:
100+5=105
4+4=8
105*8=840
840-3=837
First time ever I got all 4!!!
3:55 love how Rachel knows right away how he's solving it.
353:
75 * 4 = 300
10 - 6 - 1 = 3
300 + 50 + 3 = 353
I had a different way of getting 837: (100+5)x(4+4)-3.
I did 5*4 is 20, minus other 4 is 16, 100 - 16 is 84, times 10 840 minus 3
Same
837 4×4=16 100-16=84×10=840-3=837
211:
50 + 2 = 52
52 x 4 = 208
208 + 3 = 211
353 4×75=300+50=350+10=360-6-1=353
(Round 1 option A)
50 x 4 = 200
9 + 2 = 11
(200 + 11 = 211)
(Round 1 option B)
50 + 2 = 52
52 x 4 = 208
(208 + 3 = 211)
100 + 5 = 105
4 + 4 = 8
8 x 105 = 840
(840 - 3 = 837)
837:
100 + 5 = 105
4 + 4 = 8
105 x 8 = 840
840 - 3 = 837
211 50+2=52×4=208+3=211
211 with the small ones
3*9*2*4 - 5
923 100×10=1000 9+2=11×7=77 1000-77=923
923:
100 x 9 = 900
25 - 2 = 23
900 + 23 = 923
211:
4 * 50 = 200
200 + 9 + 2 = 211
50 + 5 = 55
55 * 4 = 220
220 - 9 = 211
50 + 2 = 52
52 * 4 = 208
208 + 3 = 211
9 * 4 = 36
36 + 3 = 39
5 * 50 = 250
250 - 39 = 211
353=4×75+50+10-6-1
923=100×10-(9+2)×7
923=9×100+25-2
211=4×50+9+2
211=5×50-(9+4)×3
In the first numbers round, I saw the contestant's solution, but because it was a low-target one large puzzle I also tried to solve it as a "five small" and got this solution, which fell out very nicely for the target:
9 x 4 x 3 x 2 = 216
216 - 5 = 211
And I also had this solution using all the numbers:
50 + 9 = 59
59 x 4 = 236
3 + 2 = 5
5 x 5 = 25
236 - 25 = 211
In the second round, Thomas's solution is the only viable one. The only thing one could do differently is take 10 - 6 at the start and multiply the 75 by the 4 thus created, using the original 4 for 4 - 1 = 3 to add on, but that's just a difference in bookkeeping and not a different solution.
In the third round, I saw Quinn's solution because I always factor the targets if they're not prime, and I also had this solution:
100 / 5 = 20
20 x 4 = 80
80 + 4 = 84
84 x 10 = 840
840 - 3 = 837
In the final round, the contestants' solution was the second one I saw. In my immediate solution, I did this:
100 - 7 = 93
93 x 10 = 930
9 - 2 = 7
930 - 7 = 923
I also wanted to do something with the fact that 923 can be factored as 71 x 13, but I couldn't find any way to make that work.
923
100 x 9 = 900
25 - 2 = 23
900 + 23 = 923
837=(100-4-3)×(5+4)
211
50 x 4 = 200
200 + 9 + 2 = 211
100 x 9 = 900
900 + 25 = 925
925 - 2 = 923 #
50 x 4 = 200
200 + 9 + 2 = 211 #
923:
9 * 100 = 900
900 + 25 - 2 = 923
9 - 2 = 7
100 - 7 = 93
93 * 10 = 930
930 - 7 = 923
9 * 7 = 63
100 - 63 = 37
37 * 25 = 925
925 - 2 = 923
