There were 4 takes of this advert for ultimate effect. Approximately 50 people were employed to pick up the 250,000 balls after each take. Golf nets were errected at the end of each road and all the drains were blocked. (purposefully)
@zombie wombie LOL no, I stuck with architecture. However a year after that post I *did* move to a very high quality design firm that has a unique skill of synthesizing a client's brand and vision of their project into a profound story that resonates with the broader community. I think there are likely some parallels and inspirations.
Crytek built an entire parody level similar to this, using their game engine, and had it running as a demo in real-time at the Game Developers Conference. They also recreated many of the camera shots and added music, but instead of round balls, they used tiny teapots, to demonstrate the physics calculations involved in tracking their movement in real-time. It's been uploaded many times. Just look up Cryengine2 and teapots.
1 take with 26 (I think) camera's, real time shit! The most beautiful commercial ever! Of course because the soundtrack, Jose Gonzalez - Heartbeats! Sony removed the original HD version (long time ago), that was mind blowing! And the people in the place had to remove the balls for a year! This is what I think to remember from the info from the original SONY video!
I don't know what would be better, to stand at the top of the hill and watch the balls go down, or stand at the bottom and watch them come down. either way it looks amazing!
i am the proud owner of a Bravia, Sony home theater, and PS3... they are all married to each other in a way that no other company can match. overpriced, but absolutely well worth it in the long run.
this video was really cool. if you want to see a random one though, search for ps3 kick. its an image of a girl. she does an ad for *tescos* kick energy drink. go go go...
How did they clean that up? What about all the whales that will choke on those balls? Looking back, i think it's a great advert. These days when you watch TV and something like confetti falls from the ceiling, the cameras go crazy and picture gets all pixelated, thanks to all this digital delivery and MPEG compression. Whatever happened to regular TV? Analog cameras and equipment weren't that bad!
There is one that I found that is smooth...it just takes a bit to load. (It didn't used to, but for some reason it does now...) ua-cam.com/video/gshABEAMg7I/v-deo.html
Yep deffo, now that sony have done it, google shouldn't use it. I just meant because google have this weird coloured balls theme going on, with some of their products. I dont think google advertise anyways, do they :-)
It's nice to see José Gonzales getting the recognition he so clearly deserves.
wow.
that was unexpectedly touching. i think living in and around san francisco has a personal impact on top of this being an amazing video.

i can imagine a google advert looking like this (google often use a few coloured balls in their logos)
It was a very high-quality quicktime file, that I guess the computer that ripped it couldn't handle it.
haven't Sony Corp done some great adverts in the last few years. Worked anyway, I've bought a Bravia telly!!
Okay, I really want a bouncy ball right now.

That's all? >.>

@saintmichaelsarmoury it is real. They used 250,000 bouncy balls. Watch the making of video on youtube.
lol
This movie has a very low framerate. There are better movies of the same commercial on UA-cam. 1 star.
Maybe you should see the making of this advert, then you will see they did actually use balls. /Yawn.
Hacky? Laggy? No real title? Ripped from others? 3/5 sorry...
