For me, Daechwita was the best solo moment of 2020!! A cultural reset for soloists
1000%!
I would also add Black Swan as a song that really became my favorite kpop song of 2020
I still remember the night I first listened to Daechwita. I replied that song for hours and I kept watching people react to it. I still feel the adrenaline 😭😭😭
Mmmh was so iconic 🔥
Thank you so much for sharing this video!! Loved it!
the d2 release date was so insane and waking up at 5am to the daechwita music video literally changed my life. what I would give to feel like I did that day again. (It was also my first bts comeback since I got into them feb2020)
May of 2020 was the first ever time I searched "BTS songs" bcoz of one of my frnd who used to share memes and I just wanted to check them out of curiosity(knowing nothing at all what even BTS is called for😄) then tbh "mic drop"appered 1st on the list and the rest
I listened to mic drop and then I was blown away,it was just so addicting and boppy and fierce...and i watched every live stages and I was just playing mic drop all the time😂for 2-3 days not knowing that there's caption and all😄then "fire"came on my playlist and "blood sweat and tears".....for maybe 15 days into it I didn't realise there is caption until I saw comments😂
Then first ever newly released song for me was "daechwita" and was blown away(suga is my bias since first bcoz of his deep lyrics, but I've been wrecked by all here and there😂😆)
and during that time it was obviously Covid time so i watched a lot of bts contents here and there ,and the rest just went on and I just love BTS for their true personality, good human beings, true artist, awesome music, deep lyrics, and their genuine love towards fans..💜

I feel like I need to make a Spotify playlist of cultural resets lol So many gems mentioned and a lot I need to check out, so thank you for the recs. Your input is always so valued to me ☺️❤️
Daechwita was the one and only true example of a “cultural reset”. Is it kpop? Is it pop? Hip Hop? Is the US really still the leader of the modern pop world? Can something so traditionally non Western be a leader in popular culture? I got into BTS at the end of 2020 BECAUSE OF DYNAMITE. Yes Butter Tour should have been the name but we all know that will be very awkward 😅 Butter was meh for me AT FIRST. It didn’t capture me immediately like DYNAMITE. But when I put my good set of headphones on: WHOA! Top notch production value. THANKS FOR THIS!
Yeah, the good headphones ... Woow!! You can finally hear everything and the production value spikes upward astronomically. #gottagetthegoodheadphones
I'm agree with you kpop songs changed my thoughts of music.
Yeah black swan gotta be the best song of 2020
you should check CLC Black Dress, No.
Too bad they disbanded. They are also fire.
Daechwita 🙌🏻
Great video😊
Butter will ALWAYS be #1 as far as impact for me. Holds a special place for me. My introduction to BTS. Armys. Kpop. Korean culture. And a blue haired vocalist that breaks my heart in the best way to this day.
You totally missed the AI reset.
Firstly Aespa.
And just days ago, MAVE.
Those songs/groups didn’t mean as much to me as they probably do to you. Which is ok! This is a very personal list for me 🥰
K-POP을 사랑해 줘서 감사합니다.^^
그런데 XG는 한국에서 무관심 대상 입니다. 그들은 k-pop으로 분류 되지만 한국인은 그렇게 생각하지 않습니다.
XG
Are you the voice in Kookielit?
I am not 👀
@@BrookeMorrison Check out the channel. You sound exactly like them.
Open mind was my introduction to Wonho and Monsta x as well! The title alone is genius. On one hand we have the: Are you down for a hookup?
But on the other side he is telling us that this is a new chapter so keep an open mind about what's to come.
The English version still sounds so illegal in my ears.🥲
Just like you, I found kpop during BigBang and Girls Generation, but life happening kinda took me away from it for a number of years. So when I came back and found BTS in 2015, I could just 'feel' that they would be as big as BigBang was at the time. That was the metric of measurement kpop fans had to go by (lol, I never compared them to Exo cause I had missed Exo's rise). When they blew up beyond that, it was just a wild ride. So many things I never could have imagined happened.
I've looked back on their releases sometimes, and I think 'Fire' would have really done well in the US market at the time, the sound was right, and it would be pretty easy for a Western audience to pick up, but things just weren't there for them yet, so close. Even when Blood Sweat & Tears came out, there was only a small bubbling happening in the US. I can recall all the reports of people hearing Walmart Radio playing BTS then, But regular radio stations just weren't willing to do it. Thats when a lot of the fan driven radio campaigns started.
Also, make sure to check out Dreamcatcher :D They don't get enough love because they don't fit into the girl group mold
Thanks for sharing your diverse list! I had a very similar situation where I discovered K-pop with "The Boys" by Girls Generation and re-discovered it again with "DNA" by BTS in 2017 when I was going through some personal issues at the time but am in a much better place now. 🥰 This would be my top 10 (I can list more but I'll spare you and fellow readers lol) list where I officially stanned the group/artist and listen to them nonstop and am excited for their new releases.
> Say My Name by ATEEZ
> Candy by Baekhyun
> Stay Tonight by Chung Ha
> Martini Blue by DPR Live
> Oh My God by (G)I-DLE
> Boss by NCT U
> Hype Boy by NewJeans
> God's Menu by Stray Kids
> Feel Special by Twice
> Different by WOODZ
I'm sorry but I have to say it. Butter was robbed at the Grammys. Grammys has made many bad decisions and this was one of the worst. I am not hating on any other artist, just the academy.
Thanks Brooke! You have given me some songs to search out ...
🤗👍
Thanks for this list! "Lollipop" by Big Bang and 2NE1 was the song that first hooked me into kpop, but like you I drifted away for years until Twice pulled me back in. Now I am slowly catching up on what I missed and all of the amazing new stuff that comes out every month. I just went to my first kpop concert to see Pixy and have tickets to Mamamoo and Twice. Thanks to you I now have even more songs to check out!
My bias is sana and dahyun 😍
