    Where do you get your soldering paste, we are here in the UK?

      +ajsminiadventure sorry for the very late reply. We had a shift in employee duties that resulted in some youtube comments slipping through the cracks! We ship internationally and you can find it on our site www.beaducation.com :)

    Kate, how do you suggest cleaning a jump ring to get ready to solder?

      You can use a pro polish pad or also Penny Brite. Links below.

    Hi, how would I go around soldering a jump ring onto a pendant blank that has been enamelled? thanks :)

    • @beaducation
      @beaducation  8 років тому +1

      +Laura Simpson Hi Laura! You would want to solder the jump ring on first, and then enamel. Have a great day!

    How do i solder a jump ring closed with a fire sensitive charm on it? It seems impossible.

      Hi! There is a product called Heat Shield. We don't carry it, but would recommend looking into it. Have a great day!

    Can silver plated jump rings be soldered?

    • @beaducation
      @beaducation  6 років тому

      I have not been able to do it successfully. The temperature needed to solder the ring typically just burns off the silver plate.

    Beaducation What gauge jump rings are those? I mean, what guage of wire did you use to create the jump rings? Is it possible to solder 28 gauge, or even 30 gauge wire when making jump rings? I'm just curious. I'd like to work with fine silver and gold wire.

    • @beaducation
      @beaducation  9 років тому +1

      +Mark II we typically use 18 or 20 gauge. It is possible to solder 28 or 30 gauge but I don't recommend it. Those gauges are so small that the join just might not be enough to keep them together, plus jump rings made from those gauges will not hold their shape well. Hope this helps.

    I know you are working with solid metal, but what about plated metals? IE silver plated copper (jump ring).

    • @beaducation
      @beaducation  10 років тому

      Hi! The method of soldering that Kate uses in this class is recommended to be used with sterling silver, gold filled, fine silver, nickel silver, copper, brass, or bronze. Plated metals have too many unknowns to use with this method. Good luck!

    Thank you for the excellent tutorial. You are very easy to follow and understand.
    My question is, however, not about the soldering itself, but rather, about the kiln brick. What kind of saw do I use to cut my firebrick? It is too large for my rotating annealing pan.

    • @beaducation
      @beaducation  7 років тому

      The brick is super soft, you can use any saw to cut it, just make sure to wear a dust mask and eye protection. Make sure to subscribe to our youtube channel for more jewelry making vids!!! goo.gl/29bmpC

    Hi thanks for the video. Please can you help me coz I'm feeling helpless :( I'm really doing my best, trying and trying and can't figure out where am I going wrong. It happens with and without firescoff product. I use easy paste. After most of my soldering my silver go matte/dull/satin finish and I can't get the shine back through pickling. I have no polishing machine but this shouldn't be necessary just for small jobs like soldering jump rings???. Pleeease help!!! What can it be? Greetings

    • @beaducation
      @beaducation  9 років тому +1

      mismillielili When metal first comes out of the pickle pot, it will always be a bit dull looking. The best next step it to throw it in a tumbler but if you don't have a tumbler just hit it with a polishing cloth and it should shine right up.
