Well there was clearly some overdubbing. All the vocals were probably redone. See ~7:00 for evidence of that. This is expected of course as long as it isn't someone else's voice. The guitar also seems rerecorded given the quality but her playing in the video seems to match perfectly. She's a great artist don't get me wrong but I dislike this trend of faux live performances. Doesn't seem a wise choice when the lion share of your fans are musicians.
@@clownshoes19 You know that actually makes sense. I've watched some gear reviews and interviews and things with her, listening to just her guitar (in a context where she can't really take a dozen takes) and it doesn't seem quite this clean. Yeah, it is disappointing.
@@bradydyson65 Crazy, I saw her with Covet live and she CRUSHED Shibuya. Pretty obvious she has a really good studio setup but she's still a monster of a vocalist/guitarist in person.

Watching Yvette play and listening to these songs brought me peace... I can’t thank and admire you enough for dedicating yourself to your art and sharing it with us. I sing, and hope to one day be as inspiring to someone as you are to me.
I'm actually having a semi-anxiety attack, not even sure why. Feeling really overwhelmed right now. Somehow seeing this comment I feel a bit more at ease
This set brought me to tears of both sadness and joy more than I've cried this year. May you always be able to find your way forward Yvette. I'm sure a lot of people including myself owe it to you and the art you make for the emotion you evoke in the listener. Thank you so much.
That was amazing. I can't really explain to people what it's like... "You just have to listen. Relax. Let it happen. Don't fight it. You won't be humming her music later, but if you listen to it enough, you'll immediately jump on anything she publishes." I think the first time I heard Shibuya I put it on repeat for an hour or so and it was different each time. Music students in 500 years are going to be doing thesis-level compositionaL work on Yvette's music.
Very well put. If I ever talk about Yvette to anyone I can never describe the feeling I'm overwhelmed with. I just say "You have to listen to it yourself. Put on headphones, sit in a dark room, and close your eyes."

From what I've heard, I feel Yvette is scratching the surface of her ability. A gifted musician and composer, she unfortunately may have been born at the wrong point in time.
So Yvette Young rightfully blows up during 2020, one of the worst years for the planet in memory, not just receiving the wider recognition she so obviously deserves, but also being one of the true bright spots during the most miserable of times.
