- On the Grand Banks of Newfoundland this film shows the new machinery and electronic gear employed on modern fishing boats. The trawler shown is the open-stern type, which allows full nets to be dragged easily from the sea and then lifted to spill the silvery catch into the cleaning troughs.

I remember as a greenhorn drag fisherman, I was cutting away to much salvageable web on a large flap tear, and one of the old hands asked if he could see my knife, and when I handed it to him, he threw it overboard.
Lol green guys that cant mend are supposed to hold twine only not cut😂😂it was his fault for letting you cut at a flap

Them Trawlers scoop the fish up pretty quick , and you had every country in the world 365 days a year that plunder it and wipeout the fishery , destructive way of fishing . what did ya think ? it would last forever !lololo
Plenty of fish out there that's why there is quotas and good fish management
