Agreed. I graduated from high school and this album was there to usher me into manhood, a new world. Love these dudes forever. Rest in paradise, Trugoy.
De La Soul was the 1st group in Hip hop history in my opinion to make pure art. Every song and album in their catalog was and still is lyrical & sonically sound art pieces.
This song is crate digging at it's finest. For De La & Prince Paul to find all of these samples from different artists and genres and arrange them to gel sonically is amazing. All in perfect tune especially the horn and flute samples. Then to lay the Otis Redding whistling on top??🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Peace to Plugs 1,3 AND 4 Peaceful journey Plug 2🕊️
I literally got stuck on "Eye Know" from the first day I bought the album. I didn't know how the rest of the album sounded until the next day. Easily one of my favorite songs, the other two being "DAISY Age" and "Potholes In My Lawn".
@@rodneychassagne7243 Me too. So many dope, albums came out around that time. The same day I bought 3 Feet High I bought DJ Cash Money & Marvelous album. A couple weeks later Kool G Rap & DJ Polo, 3XDope and Just-Ice all dropped albums and I got them. Special Ed first album came out a little after that too.
de la soul is my favourite. Otis redding was my Papous favourite before he passed. Dock of the bay was his favourite by him, so every time i hear those whistles i get emotional but damn this is an amazing track
I just noticed Prince Paul low filtered the "Peg" sample during the choruses so that the music on top wouldn't clash with the horns. Every time I listen to 3 Feet High & Rising, I notice something I didn't hear when I first heard the album.
My therapist recommended I listen to a favorite song with full attention from start to finish & here I am. This song gives me the feels of everything good. Thanks De La Soul for giving this to the world. May you be onto better things Trugoy 💙
I'm not now and never have been a major fan of hip-hop, but I regard this song and most of the beastie boys' 1989 paul's boutique as awesomely great. It's too bad that hardly any other works from this genre were this catchy or melodic.
Love that De La Soul is being reintroduced to a new generation! RIP Trugoy
first heard them on a Gorillaz album. then I saw an old ass photo of Charlie from Anthrax wearing a De La tee.. glad I'm finally jamming to them
THE NEW PHASE!!!❤
Way ahead of their time. What a beat
Sampled from steely dan - peg
Life seemed so simple back then...it wasn'tbut in Hip-Hop, the air was fresh...
One of my all-time favourites. 1989 was such a good year.
The year I fell in love with HipHop (and music, in general) 😍🤩 Bless De La, Public Enemy and all the pioneers that raised my consciousness! 🙏🏼

i wore this tape out, lost it but always remembered these songs
Makes me tear up. Reminds me of my childhood in '89. Amazing song and album, and vice versa.

I'm lo-key ashamed that I, as a 43 year old hip hop head, have never heard this song until the new TMNT movie came out. How dafuqq did I miss this?!!
But you're here now, this was probably the best time of my life during this time
Still fresh in 2024 fo sho

This song sits in a special place in my heart...1989!
I literally got stuck on "Eye Know" from the first day I bought the album. I didn't know how the rest of the album sounded until the next day. Easily one of my favorite songs, the other two being "DAISY Age" and "Potholes In My Lawn".
@Fredicago Illanoise I hear you man I loved it and it was a great time in Hip hop! I'm glad we lived it!

@Fredicago Illanoise yeah man I agree I remember getting the D.O.C cassette from the mall in 89. Hip hop was exciting and diverse
@@rodneychassagne7243I wish I had heard of this group sooner when I was growing up in the 90's. But I was way too young being born in 1987.
de la soul is my favourite. Otis redding was my Papous favourite before he passed. Dock of the bay was his favourite by him, so every time i hear those whistles i get emotional but damn this is an amazing track
When you lived this rap ish.... it's truly emotional. RIP🌹 TRUGOY 🥹
All these De La Soul songs coming out now feels just like it did back in 1989...we're on the cutting edge all over again...

Brilliant how this was based on the original 'Peg' by Steely Dan. This probably was my favourite song from this hip hop era! Fantastic!

Thank you for this Masterpiece!
dame here cuz of the new TMNT movie. This song hit!
Masterpiece 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
O beat todo é foda, mas quando entra o assobio, os metais e o "Eye know I love you better" é a+ 🔥

Check out early A Tribe Called Quest. You'll be pleasantly surprised.
I grow up on this shit🎉

Somebody sampled Steely Dan! ❤I love it 🎉🎉❤
It definitely aged like a fine wine.
*chefs kiss*
hip hop! ❤
Steely Dan sampled nicely
This was da 1
rip trugoy🕊️🕊️🕊️
Where is Otis Redding on this song?
The sample is from Steely Dan’s “ Peg”🤔
The whistling is from "Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay"
The whistling you hear the the back ground
The whistle my man is Otis Redding the man I’m named after 🙏🏾
Tartarugas Ninja Caos Mutante
It's not just Ottis Redding, it's mainly Steely Dan.
This kids is what music sounded like before it got stupid...
SilvaGunner brought me here from Bubbline PAL Version Super Mario Odyssey
