    Scott,
    Great videos and blog.
    We are pretty late to the game with regard to Automation so are going straight in with version 8. There isn't a huge amount of information out there (Google) for it yet.
    So thanks for these videos!
    Cheers,
    Carl

    Scott, awesome video series, I wanted to suggest if you can make a video of multi-machine blueprint, tiered or a cluster setup. Thank you for doing this and keep up the good work.

      Hey jlan421, Thanks heaps for the feedback. The plan is I will absolutely be covering clustered and multi tiered deployments. I was thinking of an advanced blueprint series of videos to build on the 101 series.
      Ive been working with a customer on blueprints for the covid19 response for the past couple of weeks, which should go well for a video, ill look to get something up soon.
      Cheers

    Hi Scott - great series. I built a blueprint using Ubuntu 18.04 just as your tutorial does, everything seems to be working except I cannot pull an IP in the guest based on the IP range setup in network profile. Deploying to vSphere, so not sure why it's not working. Was easy in vRA 7. Am I missing something?

      Hey Jon, Thanks heaps for the feedback, I have seen issues with ubuntu and there is a KB for guest customization kb.vmware.com/s/article/59557
      But I would see if just adding static IP assignment, like below first and see if it assigns correctly from the network profile IP pool
      Cloud_Machine_1:
      type: Cloud.Machine
      properties:
      image: CentOS
      flavor: small
      constraints:
      - tag: 'platform:vsphere'
      networks:
      - network: '${resource.Cloud_Network_1.id}'
      assignment: static

      @@VirtualisemeTV Thanks Scott! I appreciate the link. I have also seen native customization issues w/ that tmp location, etc. I managed to figure it out! You MUST have a section in /etc/cloud/cloud.cfg for network: set to disabled in the guest. Otherwise the deployment will try and stick with DHCP regardless of cloud-init configs. I had read tutorials saying "uncomment" if present, but you actually need to add it if not. Thanks a bunch!

      That's awesome, glad you got it working. Thanks heaps this will come in handy, I have been looking to stand up a new ubuntu image for my lab when I got some spare time mainly because of the issues seen with applying network configurations that aren't really seen in CentOS or RHEL.
      Happy Holidays

      @@VirtualisemeTV Yep! Let me know if you need any insight - I documented my template build. CentOS ships with some different settings applied, so it seems to work more out of the box. About to find out! I am prob gonna ask you some questions re: NSX-T on-demand stuff from your later series. Is youtube comments best or do you have twitter/etc.? Happy holidays to you as well!

      Cheers will do, Yeah youtube comments might be best for now as it will help anyone else viewing the content, but will respond on twitter also.

    Hi ...I have a question .....did u try adding notes which is visible on vcenter

    • @VirtualisemeTV
      @VirtualisemeTV  4 роки тому +1

      Hey Sakshi, Any tags added either via Project or on the blueprint will be visible in vCenter, with the added bonus of being universal so will also work and be visible in all cloud endpoints. But notes can still be very informative for at a glance information. I just did a video using vRO extensibility adding notes to the VM which is a simple way to to achieve this. ua-cam.com/video/PvDztiT6Pqs/v-deo.html

    Can you put a video for vra8 installation and I am not getting separate properties tab in the blueprint, I can just see the code

    • @VirtualisemeTV
      @VirtualisemeTV  4 роки тому +1

      Hey Sharda, what version of vRA are you running? I would assume 8.0.0? the properties tab was released in vRA 8.0.1

      @@VirtualisemeTV I am running 8.0, I was trying to install 8.0.1 but I its getting failed at vra initialize stage, I did all sort of troubleshooting, even tried to install vra using LCM but it still failing at initialize, any idea what could be wrong

      @@shardatiwari5267 Sorry to hear that. There was an issue with the container password expiring kb.vmware.com/s/article/78235 When upgrading to 8.0.1 it was failing for me too originally, give the kb a shot and see if it works.
