@@patthemilkman403 It is common knowledge that at least two people claimed that Gerry Adams ordered the death and disappearance of this poor woman. However, since those who made this claim never were deposed under oath and either had their own agenda and/or PTSD related mental health and substance abuse issues, I do not personally find their statement’s reliable. If the police investigated and did not charge Gerry Adams I consider that the end of the question.

I don't believe that Brendan Hughes is a liar when he says that Gerry Adams gave the order for Jean McConville's murder. Hughes had very little to gain from the statement, which to my understanding was pretty much a "death bed confession" or as near as damn it. Adams has more to gain from lying about the situation around the McConville murder.
Having said that, I believe Adams has achieved wonders in working towards a united Ireland. The families of the "Disappeared" deserve to know where their loved ones are and what happened to them.

I Believe him as well 100%. Now I am from the unionist side of the divide and in the history I have learnt growing up it is provisionals like Hughes who I believe told the truth, even though he disagreed with the GFA he came across to me as someone who as a Republican and realised the war was lost. Its amazing despite sinn fein going into the political process wont admit anything again much like the loyalists so at the end of the day truth will not be easy to find if ever.
