By far the most comprehensive review of this set. You were the only one who pointed out how difficult it is to take apart. Yep, we found that out too, and some other sets make Rainbow Road look super easy to dismantle. We have a one of their earlier Track Builder stunt sets that actually has permanently locked pieces making the set impossible to store. I also like the idea of removing the random attack track -- didn't think of this. Great stuff!
Thanks, awesome video. Answers all my questions especially regards being able to remove the special section. Best review of this set by far, well done and many thanks 👍🏻 🙂
Diddy Kong car isn’t one of the Mario Kart cars that’s supposed to be used with this track. Only the cars with the 2 tail pipes are the ones meant to be used. I know this because my little girl had a Yoshi car that kept winning and didn’t have the 2 exhaust pipes like all the other cars. It was much heavier than the other cars and a bit longer also.
I just bought this tonight for my nephew’s Christmas present and nearly every kart available. I think I’m just missing green Yoshi and Toadette. If he outgrows this someday, I’m taking it back for myself 😅

Wow I'm blow away by this thing congrats on finding the 1 that was left ! I also like the great quality of your videos how you described every piece was super cool keep up the sweet content 😀
A couple of things I would have also checked. 1: switching which cars are in each lane, this way if the same car wins it may trigger a different item. 2: test if lane one always triggers the same item... it would mean that the fastest car, if in lane 1, never wins. A couple negatives that prevents me from investing are as you pointed out 1) the turn pieces can't be connected to form an S turn and you can't extend the track with the finish line further down (same issue I had with the six lane speedway).
Thanks for your feedback. So I'm not the only one who wants it to be even more customizable than it is! The item triggers are random, or seemingly. You can just use your hand to trigger the same one over and over, and different combos of items pop up. Eventually, I'll make a follow-up and do a race with cars in varying lanes. It's on my long list of video ideas! lol.
Is there a way to remove the tallest support without breaking it? The top most extender piece was not installed originally and the longer portion is wedged in pretty good.
I think I know what your talking about and I discovered it after finishing the video. Trying to go back to the curved layout after having done the straight? I never released the piece because of fear of breaking it and literally used books to prop up the supports to be the right height later. I think one commenter said they had removed it safely but it was scary. Definitely felt like it would break to me, but I’m not the kind of person to force things. As seen in the video. It won’t help us but, I hope Hot Wheels fixes this design issue long term, if they hadn’t already.
I watched this video for that exact reason. I ended up using two screwdrivers and yes, it nearly did snap. Definitely left some scratches so be warned.
So glad you made this video. My 6 yr old daughter told me to put it on her Christmas wish list. Probably not. Last year (SANTA ) I got her look out paw patrol tower. Came had to send it back to Amazon sent me another one. The light and elevator parts doesn't work direction horrible don't give details. Took me 2 put it together
I just got this and that idea was tossed around after I set it up, but one thing you'd have to do, is find ways to prop up the supports on the upper end if you wanted to add another set higher up, cuz the supports aren't meant to go to the height of 2 sets, but I'm sure that's fairly easily engineered with wood blocks or whatever
That's definitely one of the things I was curious about when unboxing it. I agree, I think there is some level of customization if you have two sets, but the supports would not be the right height for the upper set. I've been waiting to see them on clearance to buy more, which has not happened yet! Well not less than about $85 I think. Perhaps one day!
** Tip ** if you flip the track upside down and flex the two pieces of track away from you, a screwdriver is not needed to take the track apart, the pieces will pop apart pretty easily.
@@ComAndCollectedFastLane I have the California Highway Patrol one. I appreciate the details that MB paints, but sometimes I wonder why they skip things like headlights and taillights.

Is it just any 1:64 racers I need? My toy store here in the UK(Smyth's) has a few multi packs but didn't know if they were all suitable for this track. Thanks for the video
The Mario Kart ones are best, because they are heavier and not too long either. I made a follow up racing some Star Wars "Character cars" and a couple were too wide or too long. You can try any 1:64 scale car though, some regular Hot Wheels will work fine.
The packaging was absolutely shocking on mine. I opened the box to put in 3 more karts so my son had a complete set and at first I was really disappointed. I could have sworn it had been opened already and returned, but all the tape was pristine and I don't think it had been. There just nothing in the box to stop it all rattling around. Amazing toy though.
That thing is a beast, my daughter would flip for that one. Will have to keep an eye out. At the moment we are collecting mainly mainlines and are having fun attempting to stunt them. Feel free to swing by if you get a chance. Thanks for sharing. Have an awesome day.
Very cool! Thanks, I like your videos, good luck! I didn't say it in the video, but it will be interesting if Rainbow Road helps brings girls into diecast. They should release more character cars of "girls" properties.
I was thinking of maybe getting it. It looks cool, but I have to say the six lane raceway has been my favorite. I like how it easily folds up for storage. Kinda why I don't want to buy any extra track to extend it. I mean I have room but I wouldn't know how to store it with the raceway. Honestly just happy with the way it is. I'm an adult collector of things and was just looking for a nice simple track to have fun with occasionally and I think the six lane raceway is perfect for me. My dad really likes cars so I'm going to take it with my hot wheels over to his house on Thanksgiving and I think we'll have a blast. Great review tho very well done and informative.
Thank you! Hope you had a good Thanksgiving! Yes, I appreciate how the Super 6 Lane Raceway folds up more now. Once you get familiar with how it folds up, it's pretty easy.
Thanks! Oh yeah, it's big! I wish it was easier to take apart, but they really want it to be a Hot Wheels "Takeover", lol. Once it's in your living room, it's like a new piece of furniture.
Could you please tell me the size of this larger colored piece of the track? I wanted to buy it for my grandson. I'm going back to Brazil and I need to know if it fits in my suitcase. Thank you.
Generally you can. Some of the pieces share connector types. So if you wanted to create some sort of longer custom track you can. It’s not quite designed for that. So you’d have to do some work making the higher parts of the set the right height off the floor.
Hey! One question. So if I want to extend it and end with the Mario kart given finish line, do I have to take out the question block trigger and put orange tracks? I want to extend it and wondering if you can answer it please!
Hi! Doesn’t effect the question blocks but I think these are your options to extend. 1. Add orange track AFTER the finish line as intended. (And I demo’d at the end of the video) 2. Buy a second Rainbow Road to put the pieces together in some sort of new longer layout. 3. Buy a fan made piece from Etsy that will hold the finish line, and allow you to add your own orange track BEFORE the finish line. I haven’t tested to it, but I found a link to one: www.etsy.com/listing/1102733814/rainbow-road-extension-kit-hot-wheels?ref=var_v1_share

Hi! You can put regular Hot Wheels on it. They do not push over the question block trigger as well. I think at the end I demo’d removing the question block section. Like any other track some regular Hot Wheels will be too wide.
@@ComAndCollectedFastLane i bought this track today after watching this great video you made. Just had a question regarding the cars. I purchased a bunch of mario kart cars. Maybe a little bit of both. He still won in the straight layout. If I test some more and learn anything new, I’ll let you know. Our next race video will be a drag race bracket. So we’ll race only two at a time and probably alternate lanes.
You're right! I wish they had made it expandable BEFORE the finish line. Wouldn't it be funny if they had marketed the idea of buying two, to make it longer? LOL
Thanks for the tip! I've updated the product link in description for everyone. Yeah is was $20 more at Target! I wonder if they'll lower their price now.

As long as they are not bigger than the Mario-themed ones. Regular Hot Wheels work better in the straight layout. They don't have as much momentum in the curved layout. They hop a little more when they hit the triggers. You can still race them. Or remove the "item" section, as I did at the end of the video for a smooth race. I already have Mario Kart Rainbow Road Track but I don't use Mario Karts I use Disney Pixar Cars mini racers
Cool!
This is the sole purpose I want to buy it for my kids. Do the mini racers work fine on it?
The audio is really off like before you even put the cars in the audio already has the cars in and when the straight one I could already hear the second race before the first
Thanks. When that happens, try reloading the page. There is some sort of glitch with the UA-cam player. I’ve noticed it myself watching others’ content.
w h e r e did you get that lamp?
I got mine at Target. But it's available from other retailers, too. Thanks for watching!
I want it just for the King Boo kart.
Awesome, fortunately he's a "first appearance", so it's likely we'll see him elsewhere!
Could you race again but switch up who is in what lane? Is it Diddy is fast or lane 1 has a speed advantage somehow?
Maybe a little bit of both. He still won in the straight layout. If I test some more and learn anything new, I’ll let you know. Our next race video will be a drag race bracket. So we’ll race only two at a time and probably alternate lanes.
How Much Was This Set Originally??
Retail $149.99.
how do you know who got 1st place?
The finish line lights up with the number of the winning lane! 👍
@@ComAndCollectedFastLane thank you I could not figure it out! I just ordered one off ebay
Pretty cool. But for $120.00 needs way more track. To short of a track and it’s over before you know it.
You're right! I wish they had made it expandable BEFORE the finish line. Wouldn't it be funny if they had marketed the idea of buying two, to make it longer? LOL
They put it on sale for $40. I paid two rainbow sets at least $80 a few weeks ago. I really loved them.
How much money was it?
$140 US
Currently $120 on Amazon
Thanks for the tip! I've updated the product link in description for everyone. Yeah is was $20 more at Target! I wonder if they'll lower their price now.
@@jtucker473 120?!?!? But I paid $80 two Mariokart rainbow sets when They put it on sale for $40. I paid $30 at least two to ship. I paid $130 for ship with NEW Brand rainbow two sets!!! I didn’t know that Rainbows sets have been stocked a few months ago….
does the track work for other carts?
As long as they are not bigger than the Mario-themed ones. Regular Hot Wheels work better in the straight layout. They don't have as much momentum in the curved layout. They hop a little more when they hit the triggers. You can still race them. Or remove the "item" section, as I did at the end of the video for a smooth race.
Contanto que não sejam maiores do que os com o tema Mario. Hot Wheels regulares funcionam melhor no layout reto. Eles não têm tanto impulso no layout curvo. Eles pulam um pouco mais quando acertam os gatilhos. Você pode ainda corra com eles. Ou remova a seção "item", como fiz no final do vídeo para uma corrida tranquila.
@@ComAndCollectedFastLane Thank you very much
@@ComAndCollectedFastLane Is it possible to put other clues (orange) on it?
Imagine use real world cars for Mario Kart Rainbow Raceway as a touge track that inspied by Initial D.
I think I have to work on my collection of JDM cars, lol.
Do the serpents revenge track set next.
Oh yeah? Is there a current version?
@@ComAndCollectedFastLane the one from 2005.
Should have made 2 gate start buttons so 2 kids could play rather than just the one
Ur voice and the sounds were way behind, like the starting sound was playing when the race ended
Next time that happens, try refreshing. It's UA-cam lagging, probably not a particular video.
Maybe
Yes to keep it as a collectors idem 0:04
You’d think that, for that much money, you’d get a full set of cars, not just two?

Got one. Buck fifty at toys r us
I would buy it but one it’s too expensive and and two my dad said no he thinks it’s stupid so that sucks
Yeah it is crazy expensive. Hopefully it becomes available at more stores and the price goes down.
Awesome, informative review. Thanks!
