I love Youth Dew so much! I bought some purely from nostalgia during lockdown because my Mom used to wear it when I was a kid. I HATED it as a child! But after wearing it for memory and nostalgia reasons I quickly fell in love with it. It's kind of scary to wear at first because you worry you're going to smell like everyone's grandma, but I've gotten over that fear 😁. For me it's a fragrance that smells even better as the day goes on, unlike various modern one-notes and sugar bombs Youth Dew seems to really work with body heat and dare I say it, sweat! It never makes me feel dirty, it never smells stale. It's beautiful and complicated, I'm glad I'm old enough to appreciate it! I love seeing people's reactions to this Marmite fragrance, thank you 😄
I'm finding the more fragrances I try the wider selection of scents I enjoy. This one is really growing on me though. It's not a scent I'd wear daily, but it's very comforting to me. I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Thank you also for taking the time to comment, I love reading about people's experiences with fragrance!
@@WinterRose84 yeah it's not so much a daily frag I think! But I know what you mean about widening your palette. I used to hate sweet scents but I've even realized there are some times you can feel in the mood for that, too. ☺️. I even find myself sometimes in the mood for a crazy one like Eden by Cacherel, which is very black licorice on me. Sometimes the weird ones can really entrance you given the right mood and situation!
It's overpowering when you first spray it. But it does lighten up as the day goes by. It has so many beautiful notes, and I love that it lasts all day. I would describe it as a "Goth". Dark, Rich, Mysterious. 🖤
@@WinterRose84 I got it in the mail today and I like it! Very comforting to me. I don't know how much I'll wear it but I'm happy to have it in my collection. It gives me Chanel No 5 vibes but a sweet cola, slightly spicy version.
I used it for years in the 80’s and the dusting powders are amazing!! Better than the perfume! ❤️ I worked at Leggett/Belk and so many ladies bought the dusting powders that didn’t use perfume ❤️
Thank you for this review! I was going to get this sample because I did a quiz lol and fell into the oriental/amber category in perfume interests, thouugh, I was a bit unsure towards the end of making my purchase of samples. I feel it's worth a try, always, though, may not be my preference actually, I might as well see! It's appreciated lol.
Love the bath oil, have to remember the PH of our skin make the perfume smell nice, strong, or horrible!! Personally I love it! but the bath oil, is elegant and not floral at all.
Youth Dew is the most rounded of the three, due to the number of notes, which are superbly blended. Tabu is a little more basic and straightforward, less floral. Obsession wants to be better than both, and fails. It's fine, but I use it for layering only. I don't feel that Obsession satisfactorily challenges either Youth Dew or Tabu.
Love the drinking a Coke while reading a book description (I'm a retired librarian, lol, so perfection!) I ordered some on sale and looking forward to wearing this Fall. My go to perfume has been Lauren, by Ralph Lauren, which is regrettably discontinued. I used to wear Opium, too, back in the day during colder weather. I think Youth Dew will be more similar to that than Lauren, which is more floral. Does anyone know a perfume similar to Lauren that I could try? Thanks, loved this!
This fragrance takes me back to the 1960's when I was a kid, as my Mom used to wear it. I hated it and still hate it, and used to beg my Mom not to wear it.
A very sexy, sensual parfum - have worn this beautiful parfum since the 1960s. It is very feminine, not sweet, not powdery, not masculine, not hippy dippy beatnik, not cola, etc. Beats out all the weird, modern parfums out there which stink of the vile 80s scents - watermelon, apples, etc.
I must say I don’t really like this perfume. It’s the one that my Nan has used for years. I suffer with chronic migraines that get really bad and I find that this perfume is one that makes them worse and that’s highly unusual for me because it’s not normally smells that aggravate my migraines and make them worse it’s because there is bright light. But I’ve found one that smells like you dew but in my opinion it smells better it’s coco from chanel
It's definitely not a scent for everyone, it is pretty strong. Thanks for the recommendation too. I actually don't have that one, I'll try it next time I see it though.
@octaviaharness8295 I've still got toenails I have polished all the time, and I take regular breaks to use a nail treatment for my finger nails as they are pretty brittle, you can't see it because it's clear. So don't worry, the polishes are loved and used 😊.
@@WinterRose84 The only fragrance i like is Lord of Misrule . Its overwhelmingly strong though. Yourh Dew i tried today ...its a real classic perfume ! Leans to the masculine side, like you said. Just like Chanel mademoiselle does. I think Youth Dew is really like a soft soapy cinnamon for me.
So I went to a LUSH store today. I tried the Lord of Misrule perfume. It is definitely strong and mainly patchouli. It was nice, not something I would see myself wearing though. I think for that reason I'd prefer Youth Dew. It was nice though, I didn't try it on my skin so it might smell a little different on skin

Im 76 and have used youth dew all my life
I finally found the bottle that was in my grandmother's bathroom. Thanks for the review!
I'm glad you liked it 😊
I have this and aromatics elixir and I love them both. I would like to get vintage versions of both.
I imagine a vintage bottle would be pretty wonderful. I've not yet tried aromatics, I think I might have to now :)

The plasticky sound easily could have been ASMR content! This was a fun video. Thanks for sharing your reaction and first impressions!
Thanks 😊 I always thought that noise would be too harsh. I guess I could make it work.
I blind bought this too, waiting for it to arrive and watching your review made me less nervous to smell it lol. I hope I like it at least!
How exciting! I'd love to hear what you think when you try it.

I'm a bit the same. I like it and I'm glad to own it, but not sure I'll wear it much. I do love just smelling it though.
It's interesting how one of Joan Crawford's husbands who was a Pepsi CEO was attracted to this scent. Pepsi is a spice bomb like this.
_x)_
I didn't know that. I love learning facts like that, thank you for sharing! It really does have that spicy cola vibe.
It’s such a beautiful perfume It smells like Christmas to me my grandma used wear it x x
I can completely understand how it would smell like Christmas ☺️
The bottle is so beautiful. I’d love to own it someday.😊
it really does. It looks so classic. I really enjoy having it to display :)
It goes on strong but dries down to a clean spicy (Fall) scent

I was surprised, I didn't expect to like it as much.
