I heard that Joe Pass recorded his 'Virtuoso' album in 55 minutes one lunchtime! Unbelievable.
I think it was a Wednesday.

      To paraphrase Bison from Streetfighter
“The day you heard Virtuoso was the most important day of your life…for me, it was Tuesday!”
      😂

Please do make 🙏 part 2 ..... I like the way your videos seem to fill the gap between absolute beginner and instructional videos, say from Bruce Foreman. In other words, they provide essential practical knowledge.
I would like also to compliment you on your speech, enunciation, and general rhythm. These seem to be very helpful and seem to lead us to achievement.

So glad to hear a young player like yourself recommending Joe as a source of the art. It seems a lot of young players have missed his brilliant contribution to jazz. Thanks!

Not many lesson videos are this incredibly good. At least I’ve never heard someone break this approach down in such a lucid, step by step fashion. I keep coming back to this video! I know you have made more in the series, but we could always use another one! More tricks or just different tunes. Thanks Nathan!

Can you read minds? I was working on *Mean to me* the whole day (in Fmj). First the Barney Kessel Intro and then a fingerstyle version of the whole song. Now I got a couple of lines to transcribe and throw in just like that. Thanks a lot and keep on doingthe good works. :)

Good video on an important subject! Important to develop the music "matrix of the fretboard". Which is to say have the technique and ear developed to know exactly where to "find " the melody and harmony plus bass. The melody has to be primary and distinct in terms of rhythm, strong vs weak beats. Given that much though not all the melody lines are played primarily on the top three strings, one articulates the melody and dis-covers the harmony on adjacent strings in zone of the neck On weak or connecting beats you fill in the harmony and "color tones". I tend to prefer the simplicity of the classic lead sheet with lyrics, the melody, and chords written in. Clean - no tablature - standard notation. If necessary, one can write in fret position above the chord as a Roman numeral. And think logically in terms of how the neck is structured in terms of octaves and string sets. Ultimately, play what you hear in your mind with intention as Chick Corea intoned.
