Thank you so much dear. I'm an Iranian person who loves Israeli people and culture and specifically Jewish musics. This song is full of hope and I hope very soon we can come to each other's country free of any borders. God Bless you all.
Such wonderful sentiments, thank you dear friend! The Jewish people and Israelis in general, have deep respect for the people of Iran and their culture - one day, the forces of hate and fear will dissolve and there will be joyful reunion of two people who have mutual affection and appreciation for each other.
The Persians/Iranians encouraged and supported the Jews returning to Israel and rebuilding the Temple in Jerusalem that the Babylonians had destroyed . Cyrus the Great king of Persia undertook this project in his first year in 539 BCE 2 Chronicles 36:22-23 Several centuries later in 614AD the Persians reinstalled the Jews as the administrators of Jerusalem thus undoing the Roman ban on Jews living in Jerusalem. The Talmud is informed by aspects of Persian culture.
Where does one find this particular sheet music to sing and play piano? I’ve sang this song in choir years back and would love to introduce this song to my fiancé who is Jewish. Any info helps on finding this arrangement
Thank you for finding ways to reconnect your fiancé with his culture! He is one of just 14 million people in the world who are Jewish, a tiny minority. How wonderful that you desire to rekindle a 3000 year old flame within him.
Our choir got it from Hal Leonard Choral Series, PO Box 13819 Milwaukee WI 53213. This is the "Leavitt" arrangement; the original "Ilanit" arrangement is perky and cheery
This was always my favorite song to sing in chorus in hs. Was so excited when we sang this at the county concert with all the other schools. It’s been 23 years and I still remember all the words. Beautiful performance.
this is one of my favorite songs for choir...i am so in my feels
Coming back two years later...still applies. And I'm feeling very drawn to Judaism 20 years after singing this in high school choir
