"Allen bails out Mark to avoid more scandals and pays Carrie to drop the charges. Stephanie returns, pulls Rachel's new fashion issue and fires her. Gil is approached by mega tycoon Adam Brock, who asks him to quietly buy stocks from Allen's company, Rush Media. Mark is on speaking terms with Stephanie again but she still can't forgive him. Peter tells Alex to stop threatening Robin but Alex reveals she's pregnant. Her pediatrician, Dr. West, confirms it and Alex demands Peter to marry her. Brock tells Gil to contact Linda and see if she's willing to sell her 3% of Rush Media. Rachel gives Allen her pulled fashion magazine and claims it's a much better magazine than Stephanie will ever be able to put together. Allen lets Rachel edit special fashion supplements to 'Communique'. Distressed to still be working with Rachel, Steph sleeps with Mark but later regrets it. Robin quits her job at the strip club. Peter says nothing to her about the baby. Alex goes to Linda and sobs about the pregnancy and Peter's affair with a stripper. Nikki is uncomfortable to discover that Gabe keeps several guns tucked away in his flat. Gabe is in fact a hitman hired by Allen to kill Nikki. Linda orders Peter to marry Alex. Steph delivers a new issue with a cover that says 'fashion sucks'. It's a huge success and Rachel and her supplement are made a laughing stock. While on top, Stephanie quits her job and moves back to Seattle with Mark. Alex isn't pregnant after all. She has blackmailed Dr. West to go along with her scheme."

I'm sad to see Stephanie go since she was the main focus of the show from the beginning. I think it was a major mistake having her leave. She had potential to be the HBIC at Communique with those around her always trying to take her down.
This was also the episode that changes Alex's character. She wasn't this obsessed with Peter before. He did hurt her when he slept with Nikki. I can see her wanting revenge but I thought that her feelings for Peter were genuine.
If they wanted a bigger mid-season finale then it should have been a bigger ending. Like a who done it with a shooting of Alan. The suspects would have lined up.
The next episode will turn the show from a NYC Melrose Place to a NYC Dynasty. CBS should have just kept the original vision as was.

From what I remember CBS took this show in an attempt to get younger viewers as that network was known as an "old people's" network back then. It didn't work out and they revamped it, shifting the storylines and the focus on the older characters, making it another "old person's" soap opera. I hated the second season. They should've stayed with the original premise. I think they would've gotten that 18 to 49 demographic that Fox was getting if they would've been more patient.

I actually enjoyed Season 2 more with the addition of Raquel Welch.

Allen paid for a hit, was there a hit? Did Gabe refund Allen's money.... what happened. Season 2 benefits from a much improved musical theme, but what the heck happened to Nikki?

09:37 A classic scene I remember! Carrie stops the elevator with her cigarette, talks to Allen and when they are out she has managed to get a lot of money. 😄
