Since we don't have a prominent local team here in Louisiana, I started collecting my favorite LSU players who have played in the Majors. It gives me a chance to follow more teams as a baseball fan.
I started collecting last year for the first time. I had no real goal in mind and it really became over whelming with all the diferent types of cards out there, not to mention the cost. So now I'm looking at focusing my collecting to a specific team and I'm going to narrow my focus from there. Your video gave me plenty of things to think about. I really appreciate your video and I beleive it is going to help me develop an interesting and fun collection. Thanks!
Great video! I found my baseball cards when I was a kid around a month ago, and didn’t know how to start. I didn’t know that people were still collecting cards, but I respect that.
Great video! I just started collecting again after finding my baseball card collection that I had as a kid. Andres Galarraga was my favorite player so I've been on a Galarraga card kick over the past week or so. I forgot how much joy it brought me as a kid. That renewed joy is great to have once again. - Paul
@Jimmymccullochfan WELCOME BACK TO THE FAMILY! that’s awesome that you reignited the flames and started collecting again! I was the exact same way when I got back into it- it’s really a lot of fun and there’s an awesome community of collectors out here just like you! Galarraga was a beast! Thanks for watching - I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
Thanks for helping make up my mind. Going to try and get all my favorite red sox at each position from the past years. My main goal in the future is to have the best player from each position from the history of the organization.
Thanks for the advice. I got overwhelmed this past year when I started collecting again and for me it’s about having fun and collecting those 80s and 90s rookies !!! Especially my fav player Derek Jeter but he is expensive now lol
Erick collecting for fun is AWESOME! 80s and 90s cards are still fairly affordable now but I think they are going to start going up in value over the next few years so get them while you can! There are still some Jeter’s that are mildly affordable in PSA 10s but once he gets to the hall all bets will be off for a while lol! Love that you collect Jeter’s! Do you have any other memorabilia of his? Thank you for watching!
Parlay Jay yes I got one signed ball and i got another signed ball going thru jsa now. I got a PSA 7.5 UP sp rookie card and another sp card grades thru Beckett 8.5. Stadium club psa 8.5 also. And I got a lot of those regular topps gold ones also lol. I do not like resell I just collect for my enjoyment. I got rid of my cards when I was younger to make ends meet so I just started back up this year and I love it !!
I looked up videos about collecting, and your vid. Made so much sense, thank you for the breakdown, very informative. I plan to collect today's rookies. A good friend of mine gave me a trout rookie for my birthday! I am an Angel's fan by the way. Holly smokes, I did not know the value of such card!!! I got hooked! Thank you again, I will have subscribed, and check your other videos!
Just found your channel. I got Lots from ur informative video. U have a good way of giving advice. I bought a yankees 2001 upper deck set. Also a mickey mantle set.
I know all this, but cool post... I did a bit of everything this year. Bought a '77 Topps BB set, having sold a Cristian Santana 2/5 Bowman chrome/refractor for $480 on EBay, from 1 pack. Got obsessed with Topps Heritage enough to complete 1-500 set(best retail-hit being the #413 Gleyber Torres error-card). Realized, I'm a FB-guy, and am 7-short of the '71 set, which I deemed the coolest from the merger-era. Lately, into 2019 Panini Prizm FB... 2020 Topps Heritage will be super-cool with the '71-design.
Great video! Been watching your other stuff too, very informative! I have been collecting statues, comics, and other memorabilia for many years But only in recent days been thinking about collecting baseball cards. The extent of my Topps card knowledge is only due to playing MLB TheShow every year lol It definitely seems overwhelming, I had no idea there were so many damn sets released by Topps every year. However, I am dedicated to start! My team has always been the Rockies so I thought about maybe collecting an inaugural set or maybe their 2007 NL Championship run but like you I am also a big fan of rookie cards. I know in one of your other vids you mention the best time for the market is during the off season but even now during covid the prices of a lot of rookies appears low. You think right now is a good time to invest or wait until winter time?
@anthonymorse! Thanks for watching! I’m so glad the content has helped you. That’s such an awesome story! It’s really exciting that you are looking to jump into the hobby! If you are a Rockies fan and want to collect Rockies then you definitely should go for it! In general the off-season has been a good time to invest but the hobby has exploded so things are changing so quickly- there are some rookies that are underpriced right now- my advice is to chart them and follow their sales history and follow them in actual MLB season play day to day- we’ve seen massive swings for specific players this year who “got hot” Judge and Tatis to name a few- we’ve also seen price drops in guys off to a slow start like Ohtani. Keep an eye- pick a focus and go with it! Make sure it aligns to your objectives! Investment or collecting!
What up Jay!! My problem is jumping from one build to another😁..from rookie cup cards to fave player then rookie then back!! But hey thats the fun part right!

That’s a great reason to team collect! Thank you for watching!
I did the same as a kid!

Thank you for watching! Welcome back to the hobby! Awesome that you found your cards! If you have any questions let me know!
I like doing early-mid 90s master sets (regular and all insert sets), especially Fleer/Ultra! That's some really fun "set building"!
Thanks for the great content. I have returned to collecting from almost a 20 year break and your videos are a good source of where to start!

Thanks for watching Jon! That’s an amazing sell! Heritage is a fun set!
Amazing video. Way to break it down for us beginners. Truly grateful for the video.
The fact that it helped makes it all worth it :)
Love the ideas! I'm not sure what Tino Martinez cards that you need, but I have a few of them including a Refractor.
Thank you for watching! I’m glad they helped! That’s awesome! I don’t have any Tino refractors but probably should get one! Lol!

Kudos to another informative video for a newbie. I'm trying to collect rookies and hof.
Glad this was helpful Maurice!!! That’s a great type of player to collect!
What up Jay!! My problem is jumping from one build to another😁..from rookie cup cards to fave player then rookie then back!! But hey thats the fun part right!
Marshall! Not a problem at all! You’ve got two methods so that’s cool! You’ll have to do a video on your rookie cup collection one day!
I have 2 binders full of Boston Redsox! All years
Awesome! I hope you go through them and pull out the best cards !
Dude! I'm jealous. I want to have a collection of all the best players in each position from the history of the Sox

#9 HOF collecting
That’s another great one!!! Is that how you collect?
@@ParlayJaySports Im mainly a set builder.
So step 1 buy packs step 2 open packs step 3 figure out how to store them all 😅
It’s the perfect cap off to the fun of opening packs 😀
@@ParlayJaySports It's perfect suspense, organization and light hoarding 😅🤷♂️
That’s the perfect Description!
@@ParlayJaySports nailed it 👍✌️
Cool vid. But if you are high on Christian Yelich you should learn how to pronounce his name. It’s Yell -itch not Yel-ick. 👍
Lol yes I know
Stop forgetting 8, that's me.
