      I intuitively change my diet during the seasons. Summer more lighter foods and winter more hearty. I never eat the same all year round. I think this goes for any type of eating and nature tells us if we listen to our bodies. I'm whole food plant based. Maybe you just need to change some of the food you eat. Just a thought.

      Health, fitness, nutrition or wellness behaviours should not be altered solely based on the information provided by DNAFit. Referral to a healthcare professional to discuss results is recommended before acting upon data provided by DNAFit services. I'm going to disagree. There is plenty of evidence looking at gene coding and its relationship with various chronic diseases. I'm by no way saying this is the answer or only thing you can do and would urge anyone to just eat as nutritious as they could as a starting point. I decline 99% of paid promotion opportunities because I don't care for them (this is actually the first on this channel). DNA testing is something I've wanted to do for several years now so whilst I'm understanding that there are limitations with it, I thought it was an interesting experience :)

    • @robertoschege979

      Hi Tom - I actually follow your channel since quite a while and usually found useful information here.
      However, this particular product is a more or less a scam, as Markus L points it out (read his comment for that purpose). The provider actually claims that the test results are useless.
      I understand that it is tempting to make some money by promoting products.
      But please do also understand that you are playing with your reputation. Do you want to develop a respected Fitness-UA-cam channel like Athlean-X or Calisthenics Movement, i.e. people go there because they will find truthful information of high integrity, or do you want to become one of the Vinces of the Calisthenics community, i.e. a V-Shred on rings?
      One remark on why you may find some "truth" in your results - This could be due to a confirmation bias (i.e. you "want" it to work for various reasons). This leads finally to you retrospectively fitting your experiences to the test results. In order to support this you rely on descriptions test results that are actually quite vague.
      This is basically how horoscopes work.

    • @BodyweightWarrior
      @BodyweightWarrior  5 років тому +1

      Roberto Schege I appreciate your honesty with this comment. I promise you I’m committed to making the best videos I can and spreading useful information as I know best at the time of creation. Getting controversial comments on videos is not something I enjoy but do see them as a learning experience, it makes me question it. Whilst I see many people are skeptical of this product, it is something I wanted to test on myself for a couple of years now simply out of personal interest. I did research the product prior seeing skeptical information on ancestry reports but noticing nothing on dietary recommendations. I have actually seen good supporting evidence for it during a quick literature review. I don’t think it’s perfect but I certainly found it interesting :)

    • @robertoschege979
      @robertoschege979 5 років тому

      @@BodyweightWarrior I do completely believe you in terms of your motivation to make videos and spread information. And you seem to be a nice person hence I decided to invest some of my time to make my point.
      I also understand that the idea of testing genes in order to find answers to questions that a lot of people struggle with is tempting. However as often in life - the answers to complex problems are complex too.
      Also popular magazines like Men's Health (found that by googeling) took up the topic of lifestyle DNA testing, so this seems to be a topic
      And you still need to make a decision whether to promote a product that produces results that are purely anecdotal.
      PS.: It reminds me a bit about the controversy of Austin Dunham and these rubber balls he promoted once (to chew on in order to develop the jaw muscles)...

      @Brion Song Maybe you should upgrade yourself as a scientist. Notice how the medical community, for example, took almost 30 years to accept that the problem was not fats but sugar. According to you, dairy products affects everyone the same as well as gluten. By the way I am an economist. Would you believe me if I told you the profitability that you get based on the distribution of dividends is more advantageous if you invest in the long term in the stock market than in a real estate? or will you tell me that I have no idea?Related to sports: Meta Analysis www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23358679

    • @robertoschege979
      @robertoschege979 5 років тому

      @@grunow Fats where the problem for what? And even if you were true - this does not mean anything for the truthfulness of lifestyle DNA tests and this product.
      To the subject - So far I have nor read anybody stating that genes would be without influence on physical performance. It is about the meaningfulness of the results that this product delivers. Even the providers of this product clearly state that these results are not clinically validated which means that any positive correlation between the test results and a successful diet is purely anecdotal.
      Would you as a business professional accept such thing in your professional world? Something like "I personally was quite successful by investing in pig bellies - so everybody will be successful too"... I hope not!

    Hey Tom, great video! Curious, what other testing have you done to help with your nutrition? I’m interested in getting professional testing done to clarify information on my food allergies. Thanks very much

    • @BodyweightWarrior
      @BodyweightWarrior  5 років тому +1

      I got the idea from Ben for this video actually. For allergies, I actually find just an elimination diet with the reintroduction of food groups more effective. Depending on the test, it will highlight 90% of what you've consumed in the past 72 hours. It will also vary with time and gut health. Elimination diet is a good place to start :)

    • @alan2609
      @alan2609 5 років тому

      Tom Merrick- Thanks for the reply! Yeah great pointers about how variable a test can be, I’ll give an elimination diet a serious shot. Went overboard once and put every smoothie ingredient Ben recommended into a single shake sure that I’d become superhuman and felt quite terrible afterwards which hammered home your point about nutrition individuality. Keep up the great work Tom 👍
