  • A recent Fox News poll found Americans under the age of 30 were more likely than other age groups to call the Founding Fathers villains. Campus Reform Digital Reporter Eduardo Neret asked students to weigh in and see if they could name any good the Founding Fathers did.

      @Daniel von Strangle I was just about to type the same thing. Essentially we have a generation who all think they are so smart on this topic but in reality know absolutely nothing. Most of them probably couldn't even name five of the founding fathers, but they all "know" they are racists an horrible people.

      @Roger Andersson The answer is simple: They know what they're teaching is bad but they teach it anyway because the school is being paid by Marxist entities. Otherwise why would they teach an ideology that's been proven to fail? In the end it's not about education, it's all about money. There's a video filmed in the 1980s about a KGB defector describing how they plan to turn America into a communist or socialist country. The creepy part is that what he described 20yrs ago is exactly what we are seeing played out on 2020.

It's like they believe in order for a country or culture to be good, it can never have mistakes.EVERY FREAKING CULTURE has had blood on their hands and acted uncivilized at some point in their history. The key question is if that society learned and changed to move away from those sins. The USA in particular does this very well do to how fluid their institutions are to the general public.

    The founding fathers, said Lincoln, had opposed slavery. They adopted a Declaration of Independence that pronounced all men created equal. They enacted the Northwest Ordinance of 1787 banning slavery from the vast Northwest Territory. To be sure, many of the founders owned slaves. But they asserted their hostility to slavery in principle while tolerating it temporarily (as they hoped) in practice. That was why they did not mention the words "slave" or "slavery" in the Constitution, but referred only to "persons held to service." "Thus, the thing is hid away, in the constitution," said Lincoln, "just as an afflicted man hides away a wen or a cancer, which he dares not cut out at once, lest he bleed to death; with the promise, nevertheless, that the cutting may begin at the end of a given time." The first step was to prevent the spread of this cancer, which the fathers took with the Northwest Ordinance, the prohibition of the African slave trade in 1807, and the Missouri Compromise restriction of 1820. The second was to begin a process of gradual emancipation, which the generation of the fathers had accomplished in the states north of Maryland.
    Here's what Lincoln said of the Founding Fathers in his 1854 Peoria speech:
    The argument of "Necessity" was the only argument they ever admitted in favor of slavery; and so far, and so far only as it carried them, did they ever go. They found the institution existing among us, which they could not help; and they cast blame upon the British King for having permitted its introduction. BEFORE the constitution, they prohibited its introduction into the north-western Territory---the only country we owned, then free from it. AT the framing and adoption of the constitution, they forbore to so much as mention the word "slave" or "slavery" in the whole instrument. In the provision for the recovery of fugitives, the slave is spoken of as a "PERSON HELD TO SERVICE OR LABOR." In that prohibiting the abolition of the African slave trade for twenty years, that trade is spoken of as "The migration or importation of such persons as any of the States NOW EXISTING, shall think proper to admit," &c. These are the only provisions alluding to slavery. Thus, the thing is hid away, in the constitution, just as an afflicted man hides away a wen or a cancer, which he dares not cut out at once, lest he bleed to death; with the promise, nevertheless, that the cutting may begin at the end of a given time. Less than this our fathers COULD not do; and NOW [MORE?] they WOULD not do. Necessity drove them so far, and farther, they would not go. But this is not all. The earliest Congress, under the constitution, took the same view of slavery. They hedged and hemmed it in to the narrowest limits of necessity.
    In 1794, they prohibited an out-going slave-trade---that is, the taking of slaves FROM the United States to sell.
    In 1798, they prohibited the bringing of slaves from Africa, INTO the Mississippi Territory---this territory then comprising what are now the States of Mississippi and Alabama. This was TEN YEARS before they had the authority to do the same thing as to the States existing at the adoption of the constitution. In 1800 they prohibited AMERICAN CITIZENS from trading in slaves between foreign countries---as, for instance, from Africa to Brazil. In 1803 they passed a law in aid of one or two State laws, in restraint of the internal slave trade. In 1807, in apparent hot haste, they passed the law, nearly a year in advance to take effect the first day of 1808---the very first day the constitution would permit---prohibiting the African slave trade by heavy pecuniary and corporal penalties. In 1820, finding these provisions ineffectual, they declared the trade piracy, and annexed to it, the extreme penalty of death. While all this was passing in the general government, five or six of the original slave States had adopted systems of gradual emancipation; and by which the institution was rapidly becoming extinct within these limits.
    Thus we see, the plain unmistakable spirit of that age, towards slavery, was hostility to the PRINCIPLE, and toleration, ONLY BY NECESSITY.
    In Lincoln's famous 1860 Cooper Union speech, he noted that of the 39 framers of the Constitution, 22 had voted on the question of banning slavery in the new territories. Twenty of the 22 voted to ban it, while another one of the Constitution's framers--George Washington--signed into law legislation enforcing the Northwest Ordinance that banned slavery in the Northwest Territories. At Cooper Union, Lincoln also quoted Thomas Jefferson, who had argued in favor of Virginia emancipation: "It is still in our power to direct the process of emancipation, and deportation, peaceably, and in such slow degrees, as that the evil will wear off insensibly...."
    To be sure, the Founding Fathers weren't abolitionists. But they were overwhelmingly antislavery.

    The founding fathers were people, just like us, products of their times, some were heroes, some were villains. MOST were products of the society in which they were raised. Some were sensible, some were not. They would all be JUST like us, if raised today, and we would be JUST like them, if raised then. Ignorance and selfishness are born into every human being. Compromise with others in society makes us better. Trying to see through the eyes of others makes us compassionate, regardless of how we (or The Founders) were raised. Some of us are destined to be Heroes, some may become Villains, most will be forgotten, much like those who just lived life quietly many generations ago.

    I also love the recurring argument. "They owned slaves so they must have been racist". The two really aren't synonymous with each other. Just because you owned slaves didn't mean you were a racist, It could have meant you wanted free labour, a certain level of social standing or because you received them as a gift. I'm not defending the practice of slavery as I think it's abhorrent, but I'm sure there were some slaves who received fair treatment, similar to how some Jews received fair treatment under Nazi Germany. "Let me clarify that I'm defining fair treatment here by referring to the fact that not all germans hated jews (racist towards them) and that some tried to help them by providing food or shelter". How about the founding fathers who freed their slaves long before the emancipation proclamation, They didn't have to, but did so of their own free will. I'm Canadian and even I know this stuff. What are they teaching you all in Schools? Also, just as a side note, Girl at the end said Obama is a hero because he was the first black president, yes he's a hero because of his skin colour, it was a historic moment but he's no hero. Fucking insanity.

It’s hard to blame these kids when they are being taught that America has been nothing but racist and all of the bad of history. I’m forced to write essays about how bad certain presidents were that I idolize, and to praise presidents I don’t like. Your grade doesn’t depend on how much you know, it’s what you believe in. Those we're common practices at that time across the known world. The reasons they came here is why we have the freedoms we enjoy now. Eventually slavery was abolished and that is a good thing. Do your research and you will find all races had slaves not just whites. People in biblical times owned slaves and in my opinion it has always been wrong. I'm glad we have grown in many ways but I feel so many are going backwards . Treat everyone with the respect you want to be treated with and things would start to change for the better.

A science teacher showed my videos of Stephen colbert trashing trump and he always talked about how racist Trump is. Then high school makes you believe you need college to succeed. Liberals sky rocket the tuition then have their politicians say the government should pay for it. Its a scheme to make you depend on them just like healthcare and abortion. JFK died warning us we were being taken over from the inside. Trump is a spitting image.

    • @FoxFelineProductions

      Tony liberals do not skyrocket tuition lol
      Colleges skyrocket tuition. High school do not talk about politics bc they arn't allowed, but it sounds like that teacher was pointing out that trump says things like “Mexicans are rapists and thugs”, told 4 POC congresswoman who were born in America to go back to their country, owns a company that used to hide their black workers away from public areas, might be a bit racist despite how he tries to say he’s not racist. It’s not a high schools fault that we built a society where a college degree makes it easier to get interviews, not much easier but easier. You just said abortion is a scheme to get Americans to rely more on the government and idk where to go with that one other then to just say, no? And you’re wrong lol. At the end of the day none of this matters because the south is getting hit by another category 5 hurricane. You know all those movies warning us that humans polluting the earth is going to cause hell to rain down on us one day, well that day is today! Instead of accepting global warming is real and working to try and reverse climate consequences, Donald trump is opening previously preserved land to oil drilling and trying to open the Grand Canyon to uranium mining. So while you may care about "republicans versus democrats I want my team to win" , just know that while you may worship trump and hate Biden, four more years of ignoring climate change will lead to more fires, more storms, and less species diversity. You sure can ignore it and think these consequences will never touch you but I’m sure that’s what the trump supporters in the south were thinking, before they had these cat 5 hurricanes that can destroy their homes and kill them to worry about

      also the fact that slavery was a integral part of society at that time. You just couldn't escape it to the point where it was like a drug. For example Thomas Jefferson absolutely hated slavery and thought it was going to be the biggest threat to the nations future and he was the biggest proponent to banning and getting rid of it. Yet he own over 600 slaves over his life. Or how about General Lee. He repeatedly talked out against slavery and referred to it as a evil institution yet he was the main general for the CSA and also owned slaves.

    The fact that they can be interviewed today and can speak their mind and call the founding fathers as villains is one of the greatest things the founding fathers provided them.
    Their lack of awareness of the freedoms and privileges they take for granted, freedoms that a lot of countries are even just dreaming about, much less hope.
    It's horrifying how there are a lot of people in the U.S who think freedom of speech should be abolished to "make things safe". They are advocating for an ancient horror that should not even rear its ugly head today.

    Slavery in human history wasnt necessarily driven by racism. It more was driven by money, power, labor, and war. If that was the case the every civilization was racist because practically every single one has held slaves. Racism was a tactic used to justify slave labor, but it wasnt the main force in the enactment of it. Both are terrible, but we have to be intellectually honest when talking about history

    • @affluentimaginings
      @affluentimaginings 4 роки тому +13

      YES! This is the first step in getting people to see the truth. Then you extend this idea to the civil war and explain that it was fought over state's rights and the ECONOMICS of slavery. It wasn't just a bunch of white people being racist and wanting to proclaim themselves superior. The north began an abolishment movement because they could, as they relied on a more industrial society. Whereas the south was more of an agricultural society and needed the already long established labor pool of slavery to exist and prosper. Soooo many people look at slavery as a concept instead of trying to put themselves in that era and events. They don't think of what that time was like, the social, economic, political environment of that time. Much easier for the ignorant to just classify anything and everything around slavery as "Racist!" so they don't have to think.

And it was the main focus

    • @sokit2em
      @sokit2em 4 роки тому +4

      @@austinliversgowdy3427 No it wasnt. Youre excluding so many equally important factors. Like i remember reading this, and cant remember exactly where, id have to look it up it again, but It was about how indentured servants in Europe were gaining some rights and demanding pay in the 15-1600s. So what did they do as a "cheaper" option for labor? Go to Africa, which is closer to Europe, and traded with African warlords and/or capture Africans themselves for slaves. They couldnt go to South America because of the journey and North America was a relatively unknown land to them, so no guarantee theyd be able to get slave labor there. Put it this way, if Natives lived in Africa and Africans lived in North America, then itd be Natives who wouldve been enslaved. Its not as simple as "we hate blacks, lets go get them". Racism was a part of it to justify enslaving them, and keep them enslaved. Youre take is missing out on so much context of what was going on in the world at the time. Youre only thinking about it through the lense of racism and todays standards of race. Again, theres been slavery of every skin color in human history and was a common practice. Theres so many parts to it than just "racism"
