Don't know why this appeared on my timeline but had to watch it for nostalgia and see the Villa result. Beautiful stuff from Gerald Sinstadt giving Spurs both barrells ....oh how I love the sound of the vidiprinter, so satisfying. Also lovely to see the Pools results at the bottom of the screen.
The final season before the launch of the new Premier League which began five months later and a start of a dominated decade from Manchester Utd. *Leeds United the last official champions of the old top flight title in 1992.
1992 i was already living in france so it was the BBC worldservice i had to listen to on longwave radio for me but as a kid growing up and when i couldn't get to city matchs away ,our home matchs i went to nearly all late 70's /80's😂 that teleprinter i loved watching never liked watching the results on itv Gérald sinstadt did the northwest matchs on itv tele when i was a kid as well,😂
That late kick-off at Grimsby ended Grimsby 0, Newcastle 2 as I recall and gave us the points to guarantee promotion to the send season of the Premiership.
I'm talking rubbish! That was season 1991-1992 (less said the better!). The Premiership would form the following season and Newcastle would be promoted to it it as the new Division One Champions. We did beat Grimsby 2-0 away to secure promotion that day but the game on March 21, 1992 ended 1-1. I recon I was probably at that Edinburgh derby as the mighty Hearts won 2-1 at Hibs. Happy times!
The biggest surprise is the result coming through around 1/4 to 5 now it's more like 5:00 pm . That summary about Spers is hilarious, now in 2025 and nowts changed
Jeez, just realised I’ve sat for 20 minutes just looking at old football scores 😂😂😂
Most of the current bunch could only dream of this smooth style from Ryder.
Always loved the drama of waiting for the scores to appear. No internet to look them up of course.

Notts County in the top division, sadly can't ever see that happening again.
Redbridge Forest FC that amount of teams that have fallen since 1992
A few years later, merged with Dagenham.
Steve Ryder is still presenting to this day
Memories, wow
Andy Cole and Wayne Allison! Good times!
This was the year we won the league before it became the Premier league
Wow I forgot all about the noise of the vidiprinter
The last league table to feature Aldershot before they were declared bankrupt and results voided. 😢
And now the new Aldershot is back 🔙 in the National League.
@ I still go and watch them when I can despite now living in Cornwall!
I was at the Norwich 4 Everton 3 game.
This must of been Cambridge Uniteds best ever season 😂
Len Martin - the best.
do you have other classified football results clips from 1993 onwards?

The good old days of 10 minutes half time before TV took the game over
Not long after Keegan took over at Newcastle, 19th in Div 2 but they were bottom not long before.
Ah,the days when Cardiff would regularly play on a Friday night when the 5nations rugby was on
The old days when jt was just division 1 2 3 and 4 , and Wimbledon were not mkd , man city a d chelsea were average and leeds won the championship
Final scores coming in at 20 to 5. That's more like it, not this 5 to 5 rubbish.
Crystal Palace NIL. No change there then ? 😂
They finish 12th every season somehow.
Long journey home for Brighton 😥
My team Liverpool beat Tottenham 2-1 that day
Local radio ?
