What I really like about this game is the focus on the grunts. No super fast hicuts and modified M4s. Just good ol' pastg and scoped M16 if you're lucky. Can't imagine how playing this feels to a real combat vet
I agree, but the one thing I, as an 0311, hate about the game is the dumb ass ironsights. Nobody ever used them like that. In fact, I bet pogs did. And those pogs probably told the developer about it. Lol Plenty of games already do it just fine like Arma, Squad, Insurgency. We didn't even really have the RCO in 2004, should've just been iron sights anyway.
@@thingonathinginathing are you talking about point shooting? i think it's awesome to be able to aim without obstructing your view and wish more games had the option to point aim but that's just an opinion
@@thingonathinginathing’ll say this, I haven’t served in the military so my opinion might not matter, but I’ve gotten a lot of CQC training as a law enforcement officer with M4s and I can’t imagine clearing buildings with an M16 with an ACOG attached. That seems like a very bad time, and I don’t doubt these marines looked over their ACOGs to use the sight.
Imagine what david bellavia felt when he cleared that insurgent house all by himself in Fallujah. This game makes me want to read House to House again.
War games should be considered horror games. Because unlike monsters or demons, there are people doing their damndest to kill you. Jump-scares mean IEDs, ambushes, that sort of thing.
Yeah, war is scarier than being alone at the most haunted graveyard. I'd rather sleep at the scariest graveyard rather than sleep at war torn city like Fallujah, Mosul, Tikrit.
Man I used to watch you years ago, I remember those "MCM" & "FUF" bits you used to do. I stopped watching after I joined the corps, but now that I'm out I've come back to enjoy your stuff. Its great to see you still going strong and playing this amazing game, I've had a blast with it myself.
There are actually noises in the game that make a short but noticeable ghastly sound that sounds like it is not to far away from the player. Something like a ghost or a Djinn. You can hear it much better if you try to solo a mission and catch yourself in a moment if peace and quiet.
A cool feature that they could add is the ability to take spare ammunition off of your fallen teammates body. So say the amtrac is destroyed and your buddy is dead (can’t be revived). If you’re both running the same weapon type you can take the leftover ammunition that was on his kit.
The vulnerability I feel while playing is probably an ounce of what these Marines felt. Every window, every angle, every doorway, every alley, every car, every random object on the side of the road.... anxiety...
It's been 19 years and, while my life is much better now then it was for a long time after I got out, I can tell you that The City took something from all of us that fought there. You're very correct about threats being everywhere in fact, the phrasing we would hear all the time is "urban warfare is a 360 degree, three dimensional environment". I was a point man so trust me when I say I scrutinized every single door, car, window, intersection, blanket, body, animal, etc. For the first 100 or so doors I kicked, my heart would stop. To this day, I still find myself getting anxious about stairs and closed doors. Not all the time, but I know that The City will always be right behind me.
Looks like the Kurt Russel experience lol. Escape from LA mixed with Black Hawk down. I think this is a good depiction of sending untrained conscripts/draftees into a city, but the game does look fun.
There were no conscripts nor draftees in the US Military at this time. Most of the Marine Corps battalions that were deployed for this operation were extremely well trained in urban warfare and CQB as made evident by the projected causality rate and the actual casualty rate. In fact, the Marine Corps Warfighting Lab began rewriting most of the tactics and techniques for MOUT and CQB after Phantom Fury due to the overwhelming success of the operation.
@@xsamoore0341x My bad I should have been clear on this, untrained as in the player . It's a simulation type of game that looks intense just to jump in to as a gamer but, thanks for the info!
Oh man! That was a crazy, good reaction that first minute! Didn't even see where you were shot from or who/what killed you; it all just went black. This game truly is a horror game!
This game seriously unlocks something that no game has come close to doing. I'm just a civilian, so I cant quite explain what it is. My uncle, who jumped into Panama in 89 at Rio Hato Airfield, and fought in Ramadi in 05-06 as regular line infantry played this game. After about 3 hours, he got up and walked out onto the porch and smoked a cigarette. He doesn't smoke. I've only ever seen him smoke once before in my 32 years of life. That was when he came home from leave when he was in Ramadi.
DevilDog, Ive been trying to find a clip/more info of marines training either during or after Fallujah. The clip mentioned that they got sick of loosing guys when entering rooms so the they changed their TTPs to quite simply "fuck it" which consisted of: open door -> Throw Grenades -> m249 and m16 blasts the room from outside of door way
In Fallujah the r.o.e's were very lenient, aside from not being allowed to attack or blow up mosques. I believe in one of Devils videos he talked about doing similar actions in Ramadi kicking doors but they weren't allowed to throw frags first they could toss smoke since they didn't have flashbangs either. When fallujah kicked off since all civilians were supposed to be gone it was deemed okay to use explosives like that, hell in 04 you couldn't shoot m40 grenade launchers inside Baghdad in Fallujah the Marines dumped belts of them into buildings and houses.
I hope in the actual release that you have access to Abrams Bradleys A-10s and Apache support. And maybe a bit of building destruction. It just bums me out watching armed armor not laying down more machine gun support. Another than that this game terrifies me. The authenticity of the room clearing compared to the Documentaries of both the 1st and second battle Are pretty much on point. But what about the civilians that stayed behind? They should be there as well so you can feel what our boys felt and saw.
I love your comment. One of the things I am most proud of about my deployment and my unit is all of the people we didn't kill. I'm sure it sounds strange but the city was a legit free-fire zone when we entered. Even with the permission to dump anything that moved, time and time again we would breach a house and find people hunkered down leaving us with a split second decision to make and I'll tell you, not killing someone that didn't need to be killed, that feels fucking good.
4:19 the innocent family huddled in the corner💀☠. This is why i think this game should have civilians. With game over, or severe penalties for killing them. I mean they were in the original trailer for this game🤷♂️
Would be cool if they eventually do something for the 2nd battle of Falllujah operation Al-farj/Operation Phatom Fury. The insurgents were even better prepared that time, theyd learned the ttps an sops of the Americans, ie they knew we loved getting on rooftops so they would do shit like knock out the stairs to deny access or they would take telephone lines an have them stretched across the roof so youd get tangled up (if youve seen how power lines are in Iraq iykyk). I believe they also started putting IEDs in the walls of homes when wed hit the house theyd clack it off an then spray mg/lmg fire through murder holes in the ceiling. So seeing stuff like that implemented into the game would be insane
The fact this games in Early Access and already this good is extremely encouraging. Yeah definitely has some areas that needs to improve in and we clearly need a lot more content and features. But what we do have IS SOOOOO FUCKING GOOD.
I do hope they make the flashlights brighter, i know it's part of the suspense, but if they want to be realistic, we need better flashlights than these dollar store lights we got now. Tip: The machine gun class btw has a sidearm, and it has a flashlight, and for some reason they drop quicker from 3 shots from that pistol than 5 from the SAW.
My dad fought against the Serbians as a foreign mercenary on the side of Bosnia and Kosovo during the Yugoslav Wars.
