You have NO IDEA how much of a headache and hassle you just saved me omg. I almost had to carry one of these up 7 flights of narrow stairs!! That would’ve been a NIGHTMARE 😭😭😭
Thank you so much!! I’m moving and I found out that the movers will charge me $75.00 per flight of stairs (8 steps is there bases) to get my couch. So I’m going to take it apart myself and take it down. ❤
I really appreciate people like you. I’m nearly 70 and was able to move one of these by myself thanks to you. The cheapest local help I could find was $128.00 per hour + $50.00 disposal fee. You saved me a lot of money and my local waste management picked it up for free once I got it outside. Only took me about 30 minutes total. God bless you!!!!
You are absolutely awesome. I’m an older single mom and was panicking on how I was going to move these into our new home. But you made this so easy!! I cannot thank you enough for sharing your knowledge. You are out here doing good work. 💜💙
Great advice, clearly expressed! Just a note: my dual recliner Lazyboy has removable backs. You have to find the two locking levers and release them, then the back just slides up and off.
Thank you so much for this clear, helpful tutorial. My son and I simply could not move our double recliner sofa fifteen feet through two doorways into our downstairs family room. Then, I found your post. We were able to remove twelve screws and nuts, take the sofa apart, move it in sections, and reconnect easily to the rails. Great post.
Thank you, I remember when I purchased it came separately and they put it together at the house, now that I'm moving I said there must be a video out there showing how to take it apart. You really help save the couch.
What a Godsend this was. We ended up sawing and breaking to get the old couch out. The new couch sat on a trailer in the driveway last night because we were going to need more people to help. Then I saw this video. Took us almost no time at all to get the couch in the house and put back together. Thank you!!
Thank you for your helpful video. we just received a couch in one piece and trying to move it through 32 inch door would not work so hopefully when we get to taking it apart it will be this "simple"
I agree with Alvie. A video that actually does what it says. Straightforward, no nonsense, awesome. I think you just spared my son and I a lot of hassle. Thanks!!!
Thank you so much for this video! It was incredibly helpful for moving our old couch. I only wish I would have seen it 15 years ago before we moved it into and then out of a third floor apartment!
I just did this on a La Z Boy sofa but there were big springs attaching the sections to the rails as well as the bolts. The springs were tricky but still doable. Thanks for the video!
You saved my move for tomorrow. Thank you so much. I just took mine apart. We were almost going to leave it. I am so happy we can take it now. Many blessings to you and your family
I was given one of these couches and did not know you could do this. We tried moving it into my basement as one unit and it would not go. Your video has saved the day. Thank you!
Very nice. Excellent. It made my day. Disassemble took around 25 minutes once I got a hang of it. Assembly actually took less than 5 minutes. Amazing help you were. Cheers
Thanks so much for taking the time to make this video. it sure helps weather moving or in my case repairing a powered reclining sofa. Tearing down my reclining sofa this way will allow me the chance to do a quality repair on both side frames of the sofa. I have Built high-end home and office furnishings for over 35 years and in all those years I have never had to deal with all the problems I have had to with repairing this relatively new couch from Art Van furniture. since they went bankrupt I lost all my warranty coverage including the extended warranty coverage I bought to cover any future repairs. Oh well such is life lol. I can handle any repairs that come along but I just needed to figure out the best and most efficient way of tearing down my sofa to do the repairs in a timely manner. I Don’t know why I didn’t see doing the repair teardown that easily. well, I guess I don’t know everything after all lol. thanks again it’s time to get to work.
Thank you so much. I am 1 person and no help available. I had literally the same type couch. Had been wanting to get it out of my apartment for over a year. Because of you and your post it is gone. Again thank you 🙂
This was perfect. As soon as I got halfway through the video, I knew what to do and had that couch through the door in a few minutes. Thank you so much!!
Thank you!! I wish I had looked this up so much sooner. I needed it to be tossed out but it was too heavy, no real truck and no big strong movers. Now I have an opportunity to bring it to the dump. it's in 3 pieces and family with a moving van will be here tomorrow! yay!
Thanks so much for posting this video. I have virtually the same sofa and am getting ready to move to a new apartment that only has a small elevator that wouldn’t accommodate such a large sofa and I really didn’t want to think about carrying that up lots of flights of stairs. This will make my move much easier! Thanks!!
Omg thank you. I have to remove a broken couch but I'm a woman living with my sister and a male roommate with a broken back. This is going to be so easy now!!!
Great video and advice, a real lifesaver as there was a real risk of me stripping too many parts / things unecessarily when I first looked at the mechanism. Thanks so much for posting this helpful video
Wow! Am I glad I watched this. I want to thank you for sharing your knowledge. I was ready to do some major work (16 hours) to rip my sofa completely apart by removing the leather and stuffing after reading how to do this online (not UA-cam). Thank you, thank you.
Best video ever. I just moved a Bryer 91" Fabric Dual Power Sofa into my 2nd floor apartment. Let me tell you, I feel like I wrestled a bear. I wish I checked for your video beforehand
You da man. They were going to charge me $250 for assembly at home. It couldn’t fit the door to bring it in. Thanks man. Just 12bolts I could disassemble it. Have all the blessed life!!😄
Thank you so much. I have a huge leather couch very good condition I want to donate. Initially when got it move it was back breaking heavy for the guys, who knew it could be disassembled. Your a huge help, thank you.
This is the best of the Internet right here. Do you want to know how to take apart a dual recliner sofa? Check on UA-cam. Someone will have made a video about it. I would not have gotten this sofa up the basement steps without taking it apart. Much grass.
Thank you so much for this. I had no idea how I was going to move out my ex's reclining couch and loveseat. I had thought I'd need to hire movers for the weight. Before I did I measured doorways and realized weight was only one issue, and thought there had to be some trick to how they got in, because there was no dimension that would fit thru the doorway. (He insisted on buying them from previous owners.) Anyway, your video saved me so much trouble and I moved everything out solo!
To the original movers from this video dated 12/5/17, I can't thank you enough for your video! Not only can I now get the sofa through the the deck door without paying someone $150. to remove it, but my daughter and I can now do it without killing ourselves on the 16 deck stairs. We'll just throw it over the rail. Heads up! You made me laugh!
Saved my day!!! I was going to sell my couch because it wouldn't fit through the elevator of my new place. I have had this couch for at least 7 years and have moved it quite a few times. Only found out about this now 🤣🤣🤣.
Yes thank you for this helpful info as I have a sofa I want in my basement but the way the stairs are there's be no way to get it down there now I can thank you so much
Was trying to squeeze my full size in a tight space through a narrow doorway. After 20 minutes of struggling and cursing, and multiple waves of anxiety and frustration, I turned to the Internet. All I can say is... thank you.

Thanks so much. I was about to spend a good chunk of change to get my recliner sofas moved!! Now, I can do it myself!! ❤️

We just got one of these second hand and can't get it in our living room. This video has saved my back and my sanity. Thank you!
Thanks for posting this video. Moved a recliner couch today and this saved our backs. Well done.

Thank you! I was stressing over moving one that looks exactly like this from the apartment right above mine! Turns out it's gonna be way easier...
Thank you so much. I am 1 person and no help available. I had literally the same type couch. Had been wanting to get it out of my apartment for over a year. Because of you and your post it is gone. Again thank you 🙂

You're makin me laugh. Yeah these things are a bear to move, like moving a refrigerator without a dolly.
Your sofa was a powered one? I was wondering if this would work for a powered one as well. Haven’t had a chance to see it yet and how it comes apart.
Thank you! I couldn’t figure out how to get the sections back together. This saved the day!
Nice! This sure helped me in moving my similar unit down a tight set of stairs !!
You da man. They were going to charge me $250 for assembly at home. It couldn’t fit the door to bring it in. Thanks man. Just 12bolts I could disassemble it. Have all the blessed life!!😄
