*Difference Machine* is a live performance by Dan Stern that features improvisations with saxophone, clarinet, keyboard, percussion, and algorithms. Inspired by philosopher Gilles Deleuze’s ideas of difference and repetition, the performance explores transformations in sound and space. The interplay of multiple sounds creates a dynamic experience, asking the listener: whom do you hear?
