When Dhananjay hanged that time I was a 12 years old kid and I followed that story so minutely that still today I remember every fact about the case.
Nata Mallik was to hang Dhananjay but he was not fully convinced that Dhananjay was guilty.
He drank so heavily the previous night, could not perform the hanging in the morning. His son had to complete the job.

1. Jail Administration
Night shift does the work of preparing the prisoner for the hanging.
Day shift takes over from the time after the hanging.
Like everywhere else, Cleaners come in the morning at 6:00 AM. They clean
the prison cell occupied by the condemned prisoner.
2. Maintaining Law and Order
Between 4:00 AM and Sunrise, most of the prisoners are asleep. So, there is no chance of a rebellion.
3. Convenience of the hangman.
This is not a prestigious job that pays well nor is it a sought after profession. In fact getting a hangman to perform this duty requires a good amount of planning. No matter how many hangings the hangman has performed, every hanging is difficult. So, probably the hangman spends a sleepless night himself. Therefore, as a convenience for him, the hanging is scheduled in the AM to allow him to begin a new day without feeling guilt.

I think much of the information you gave about the Dhananjay Chatterjee case is incorrect.
1. Hetal Parekh was in 10th standard, not 7th.
2. Her mother had gone out for 40-45 minutes, not 2 hours.
3. After her body was discovered, she wasn't ever taken to the hospital. Her mother searched the house for Dhananjay instead.
4. The family told the police they suspect Dhananjay Chatterjee right after the police came (which was more than 4 hours after the body was discovered), and not after Dhanajay was found missing.
5. The jahllad was Nata Mallick, not Kallu.
There were several other incongruities in the case which suggested that Dhanajay Chatterjee might have been innocent.
