Wonderful session and this guy is really talented, what an insight ! So we cannot even trust the balance sheets published by companies, unless we do our homework to analyse and figure out the discrepancies ourselves😮. However Mr. Kaushik Mohan must be called for more sessions with more examples.
This guy should pen a book on how to read P&L , balance sheet .

Deferred tax assets and liability occur due to difference s in tax under company law and income tax law. For example a deferred tax liability occurs due to depreciation calculation under the 2 laws. There is higher depreciation under it laws due to higher rates under it law. But it will get lower depreciation in the future compared to company accounts. So it is a liability in the future. Also some expenses are allowed on payment under section 43B before filing return for the year. So the deduction will be allowed only in the following year if payment is made after the filing of returns. It is a deferred asset to be adjusted ag future tax liability
