    This is one of the most concise explanations of birefringence I've seen. Of course there's more to learn, but this is a great intro. Thanks so much for making it!

      This was my undergrad thesis project. Now a full-time filmmaker -so unless NatGeo or SpaceX hires me full time, I won't be making more videos like this :'(

    thank you so much! but i didnt understand 6:35 and 7:35.
    6:35 has 2 lights in same line. but 7:35 has 2 light different line. can 7:35 make interference color?

    This was may more useful than trying to read a textbook on the subject! I kind of wish that it went into a bit of extinction angles, but the basic information should be pretty helpful for my current geology class.

    I disagree. How can you say that optical & Seismic 'birefringence' (lol) are analogous? One is Light, the other are seismic pressure waves! Very different but your saying their properties are the same? What a stretch and just in time for a global warming story😄
