Hey, Ryan, that "branch" was the Tusken kid's Training Gaffi Stick. Disney wanted to make it clear the biker gang killed the kids, without showing a dead kid.

11:10 I think it works, because it sort of demonstrates their inexperience. They're a scrappy street gang of misfit youths who were down on their luck, not trained soldiers. Running down the Mayor's assistant is one thing, but facing a battle-hardened, ex-gladiator, wookiee bounty hunter is beyond anything they've dealt with. It kinda makes sense they kept their distance. Keeping him off balance and stalling until reinforcements show up who know how to deal with him.

Seeing him hesitate to throw the branch into the fire. That’s the part that really got me in this episode. It absolutely belonged to the Tusken youngling, which made the village being torn apart even more devastating. Never thought I’d feel sympathetic toward the Tusken Raiders, or Rancors. Lol or Boba for that matter. Since we’re seeing things from the perspective of Boba now, a light is being shown onto the things in the SW universe that we once believed to be dark or evil. I’m loving these different perspectives.

Two things to point out. First, the unfinished stick he was thinking about throwing in the fire wasn't his. It was from the child raider he befriended. This is confirmed in the descriptive audio of the episode. Second, an easter egg for Screen Crush, you can tell that the studio has a ceilling fan with four light fictures. You can see this in the reflection of the plaque at the end of the episode. This suggests that he may not be in a video store since we have a glimpse of reality he doesn't want us to see.

10:17 I feel like the Pykes will prove to be the ones behind it all. Since they're shaping up to be (the main?) villains in the present, the showrunners may want them more ruthless in the past, too. They might've killed the tusken and framed the gang by using their symbol, knowing Boba would avenge his allies. This would take care of both groups for the Pykes, with Boba doing much of the work, and not making an enemy out of the guy who lead the successful assault on their train.

The fight scene you mentioned being stale actually makes a bit of sense to me. The cyborgs strike me as being connoisseurs of weapons and tech, but not necessarily fighters. This was probably their first major fight (possibly their first real one). Their reserved actions were calculated. They were looking for an opening whilst making sure not to hurt their allies. Perhaps the fight would have looked cooler if it had more action, but that would have told a different story: that this team fights actively and practices frequently. I don't think that's the case though.
On the other hand, I hated the bike chase scene... it felt too slow.

Leia being identified as "the Huttslayer" due to a secret recording is a minor plot point in the canon novel Bloodline. Maybe it's not yet common knowledge around 9 ABY when this show is set, but by 28 ABY, the Nikto cartel headed by Rinnrivin Di knows that Leia killed Jabba. It's also revealed that this Nikto gang dominates Jabba's old territory by the time of the book, so it's possible we might see characters like Rinnrivin Di on this show too.

I thought maybe it was an editing thing, but you're right. The fight with the Wookie was even worse and the speeder chase seemed like it needed to be sped up, so I guess it's both choreography and editing. When Danny was talking about Rancor's, I couldn't help but noticed the parallels with Pit Bulls & other dog's that if in the hands of the wrong owner, can be poorly trained, abused, and used as a weapon, when in fact, Pit Bulls are extremely loyal, loving, and playful.
In the right hands of someone whose willing to put in the hard work to not only train the animal, but train themselves, the bond can be extremely strong. I got emotional to see how much both Danny's character, and Boba actually cared about the Rancor, and it's well-being, instead of writing it off as a killing monster.

These allusions to colonialism are very obvious and furthered by these first three episodes having a focus on Fett learning their traditions.

I was talking with Caleb from the Canadian Bushcraft Channel the other week about the Tusken Raiders and the different feats of war Boba Fett had performed. In Plains culture there are 4 feats that must be performed to become a War Chief: 1) steal an enemies horse. Fett did this when he came back to the village with all those speeder bikes. 2) Lead a successful war party. Successfully capturing the train definitely counts. 3) laying hands on an enemy without taking their life. The captured Pikes from the train raid who are released fit the bill and finally, 4) stealing an enemies weapon. We see weapons being unloaded from the train heist as well. For anyone interested in reading more about these feats of war, look up Joe Medicine Crow who was the last modern War Chief of the Crow Nation who successfully completed all four tasks during WW2

    • @YouSpewed
      @YouSpewed 2 роки тому

1st of all, the train was a BATTLE. Not a war. If the WAR had been won, the Tuskens would NOT be dead now.
2nd, even if the Tuskens are BASED off of a Native American tribe, that doesn’t mean it’s the same for a tribe of natives on a completely different planet/galaxy. The rules aren’t even the same for different tribes in the same parts of America!!!

@@YouSpewed Yes, we’re all sad the Tuskens died. Though, leading a successfully war party does not mean winning a war, it can be various things, leading a war party (an assembled group of warriors) into battle and meeting your objectives (like burning down a fort) or lead them on a raid etc. Obviously variation exists from nation to nation and they change over time, like the one about horses. Nobody said its the same for them, the point of all this backstory to their way of life is to expose us to more of their way of life, learning, comparing, and contrasting from others, like my own. Mississauga’s have very little in common with the day to day living of Tuskens, but why would we? We’re woodland people. All of us are exploring this world through the eyes of Boba Fett, would he have known if there were specific accolades offered to warriors in Tusken culture? Probably not, why would he? Would the writers of this show even know that? Probably not, why would they? Which is why I made the comment in the first place, its pretty cool that Boba Fett did all those things even though it was probably just written to lift these different tropes from old westerns and add repulsorlifts.

    A couple things:
    1. The fight scene with Black Krrsantan was quite underwhelming. It could've been so bad ass! As a famed wookiee bounty hunter, he really has the strength to rip all of these characters in half with his bare hands. He also could rip the gamorian guards in half too. It felt like his character got a huge power nerf. I think they should've approached this fight differently. But that's my opinion. Also - Fennec should've been more involved I think. Would've been cool!
    2. The chase scene feels like something out of a Austin Powers - so slow and the mopeds look so out of place
I think it was a 6/10 because it had some highlights but - it missed on a couple potential big hitters. I.e. imagine if the fight scene and the chase scene were amazing!

I really felt like the chase was made on the Star Wars equivalent of mobility scooters rather than speeder bikes. Slow doesn’t begin to describe it, and it was just another stupid scene to let the new kids shine, and again they didn’t.

The three Tuskan characters represent the three stages of Bobas life: child, warrior and leader. On first contact with each one, the child beats him up, the warrior beats him up but the leader excepts him. This is because the show is about him contending with the fact that he isn’t a child or a warrior anymore and that it’s time for him to be a leader now.
The dream vision sequence in Ep.2 shows us two trees surrounded by water. The large tree is Jango and the small tree is Boba back when they lived on Kamino. He’s drawn towards the Jango tree but it suffocates him. This is because he is still attached to his father. He struggles to break free and when he does he walks away from his father but takes a small piece of Jango with him, the branch he proceeded to craft into his own Gaffi stick. Immediately after this he experiences a rebirth.
When Krrsantan pulls him out of the bacta pod he goes for his armor but it doesn’t help him, the Gaffi stick does. This is because his fathers armor is power which he inherited but the Gaffi stick is power which he forged himself.
Boba is stronger in the flashbacks on purpose. This is because when he is separated from his armor, strangely, he feels stronger than he has at any point in his life before. When he gets the armor back in The Mandalorian he kicks ass at first but as we’ve seen, after a few days or weeks he begins to feel weak for some reason. So to deal with this he continues to go to the bacta pod to heal this physical damage causing his weakness. Except there’s a problem: it’s not physical damage, it’s emotional damage. He is traumatized by watching his father die and he is attached to becoming the same ruthless bounty hunter his father was. But is this who Boba is or is it just who his father was? Has Boba ever considered just being Boba or has he always been obsessed with the idea of becoming Jango fett? He is after all a carbon copy of jango.
So once he realizes consciously that putting his fathers armor back on has undone all of his work becoming himself after the Sarlacc he will have to stop using the bacta as it has already done all it can to heal his body and is now only a crutch. And he will finally act through the final steps of healing his mind and only then he will gain his strength back.
In this show he will for the first time become the real Boba Fett and rise above being just a clone of his father.

@10:38 The stick is the kid’s practice gaffi stick. Leading you to believe the kid was killed without Disney showing a dead kid.

The sound in the bacta tank was less machine and more fetal heartbeat, which is appropriate for floating in a calming, peaceful, healing tank. 😊

Like others have pointed out - the stick was the child he befriended and since Disney can't show children dying....it was a very interesting way to tell us that the kid has also died, although judging by your observation, maybe they didn't quite hit the mark. Congrats on your success I do enjoy your break downs
