i know this is an insane necro post but where did this mandela affect even come from. every time ive seen the zena end dialogue, no matter how low they were, its always the same. the wiki also has no note of this.
I find the story during this fight very interesting as it shows just how much the Head fears the strength of the Library. Zena and Baral were given the order to attempt to extract Binah while the entire wing was being ejected, but that objective was secondary to protecting the Beholder that was with them. You barely get enough time to get Gebura to manifest her EGO if at all preventing you from normally being able to kill either of them. The Head also knows that the Library has the capability to turn the strength of those who die in it against them even an Arbiter (Binah) so it makes sense they’d want Zena and Baral out of there before Gebura gets the chance to kill them.
The fact that this time, it's not a lone Arbiter anymore but along with a Claw, means they are taking this matter a heck lot more seriously. They are also more negotiating and threatening than actually killing/eliminating, as shown in the fact that they only need Angela killed and the Library expelled, instead of letting the Arbiter wreak havoc and massacre every resident of the Library, like Garion did with the former Lobotomy Corp. I doubt they can really kill those 2, though. Binah is already "degraded", Gebura nowhere near her prime and Roland almost pushed to the point of exhaustion after THREE continuous fights, but the head probably wasn't aware of this and let them retreat just to be safe.
@@craciune When Michelle blew the whistle back at labotory in the outskirts, Garrion was sent with an army of claws/executioners. It showed that this was a matter of great importance to them. Meanwhile in the library, a lone claw, an arbiter and a beholder were the only representatives of the head that showed. Their goal was to banish the library---secondary is extracting Garrion---and not much else. From their loadout it suggest they were going easy on the librarians: - They had no passives. If they had any hidden passives, it was just Baral's damage deny to Gebura's great split and the scripted scene where Zena uses her mass attack. - Zena's combat pages use lines, never stating the name of the singularity. This meant that she was using only one singularity to bat around Gebura and the librarians. - Her mass attack has the highest rolls of all mass attacks and she could spam it twice. - Zena stepped in only when Gebura stepped in. Even then, Baral had Roland in a chokehold and Zena had Gebura pinned down. It took Binah stepping in herself to even the odds. Judging from how Zena knows everything about Angela's goals and the activities inside the library, they have more up their sleaves than the magic tricks they picked to show off. I doubt the head are invincible but I do not believe the Library, perhaps even at its peak, could defeat the head.
I actually like this fight a lot and have replayed it around 100 times, and I gotta say this is a pretty good tutorial! You got pretty much everything, but I want to add a few things that might help anyone struggling. As another comment already mentioned, Baral uses special attack type instead of melee. This means his attacks will act similarly to a ranged page when fighting a ranged page. Thus, Binah still takes damage when losing clashes. However her slash resistance still makes her a great tank for w serum. Whenever possible I will try to clash Gebura on Baral, Binah against Zena, and Roland as the flex when needed. Pay attention to the black silence passive, Roland clashing against Baral become much more favorable when active. Finally, sometimes a slightly worse clash is usually worth it to get emotion coins - if you can get a level up every turn, you can stomp the Head goons into the ground!
Baral’s attacks are….weird. They are melee attacks that take the priority of ranged ones. I haven’t fully figured it out yet but sometimes pillaring it fails because the game treats it as a ranged vs ranged clash. When Alyssicel pillared Serum W she still took damage but the animation didn’t play.
It's not a bug. There is 3 range of cards in the game. Melee, Ranged and Special. The only Special page the player has access to is Red Eye. Special page act like Ranged against ranged and Melee against Melee. They also get first priority over Melee. So slower than ranged but faster than melee.
@@The_Knowledgeseekers the issue is that when clashing against pillar, which has the specific mentioning of it destroying the dice that it clashes against, the destroyed dice still does damage. W serum makes no mention of it having anything special in its dice.
@@kyle5790 Yes it does. It's literally a special range card. If you look at the game code it's not codded as a melee attack. So it's like if a ranged die beat pillar.
My main points of this fight were to get roland to a point where he can furioso, Gebura to gain emotion level per scene so she gets ego for Tri-Serum Cocktail, and Binah to Lock Zena to maybe delay Shockwave.
I ALMOST had this one and then... Roland failed the mass attack. Never been more disappointed in him, not even when he failed 3 straight times against Olivier by rolling just ONE less than him.
Roland was at 1hp and 20 stagger, I let him cook and he still won a clash against the thick line. This is what it feels like for highwayman to be at deaths door

Additionally~ if you knock out one of them you get unique dialogue then if you just survived. A lot of Zenas smugness is reduced believe it or not

he's the weakest and most injured person in the battle so it makes sense
I'm so glad I found this video! This achievement was driving me nuts but this helped so much!
