    I followed this and after replacing the fuel pump an initial improvement was seen. For about 20km. After this my bike went to shit again. It was fucked (the fuel pump) so I am not complaining about the fix. However, my problem also involved the fuel pressure regulator as well so my problem wasn't fixed just by replacing the fuel pump. My bike is now running perfectly. After I rust clean my tank I'm going to get it dyno tuned. The Suzuki manual for the Bandit has a warning not to remove the fuel pressure regulator. Probably because they charge around $180 for a new one (which a mechanic would install in 5 minutes like I did) and I got one for $35 on Amazon Prime. Hope this helps any fellow Bandit riders. My bike is an Australian delivered 1250S K9. 72,000km.

    Hey Paul, although my 1250 FA doesn't suffer from a failed fuel pump I'd like to thank you for this very informative video, well done! Greetings from Germany and always remember, the most problematic part on a motorcyle is the nut wich connects the seat to the handle bars. ;-)

    very useful video. replaced the pump within a half an hour because of the video. Bandit runs smooth again ever since. Used a replacement of Quantum Fuel Systems.

    If my overflow is constantly pushinging out gas what would be causing that. I'm looking alot of gas there

    • @ptstransky
      @ptstransky  7 років тому +1

      Parked in the sun? Those tanks are sealed tight and get hot easy.. Make sure your vent tube is not kinked or restricted.. If it's pushing gas out try opening fuel cap to relieve pressure. Unless you're riding, careful on how much you fill it. Those are the most common

    very good video, how did you know it was the fuel pump that not working.
    What is the correct way to make sure that it is the pump.

    • @ptstransky
      @ptstransky  7 років тому +1

      You can check a couple of ways.. Easiest is to turn the ignition to switch to 'on' and see if the pump runs for a few seconds. If nothing, double check the pump relay and the tip over (TO) switch - both under the seat..
      Also, unbolt the tank and tip up. Uncouple the lead wires to the pump. Get a 12v supply and put the positive on the Y/R wire and the negative on the B/W wire. If it runs, its something else. If it doesn't, it's most likely the pump.
      Good luck!

    Be sure that the fuel screen in the tank is not plugged that fixed mine. I had about 17000 iced on at the time.

      Amazon. Just do a search and you'll have more choices than you'll know what to do with. Mine was a Highflow I believe

    I'm having problems with the bike running intermittently good and bad. Bike sat for years, 2008 Bandit 1250. Removed tank, removed fuel pump, dumped fuel, put new fuel in, same problem. Plugged injector? it cleans up and runs normal at times but generally running line poop. thank you:)

    • @ptstransky
      @ptstransky  7 років тому +1

      Injectors could definitely be the culprit... The fuel will form varnishes while stagnant. I am assuming you changed the fuel filter etc while replacing the pump? If not that could be part of the problem. What I have used in the past is an additive called 'sea foam'. While it is certainly not the miracle additive I have had pretty good luck with it. Its purported to remove the varnish and crap from injectors. I have become somewhat of a believer. Any auto parts store carries it. I have several bikes, some quite old that sit for long periods. Try pushing a tank or two of fuel with that in there before pulling hardware off. Good luck, let me know how things turn out...

    • @mboyer68
      @mboyer68 7 років тому

      Thank you! I removed the pump to drain the tank but the pump works fine. Amazing I have an electrical device inside a fuel tank right between my legs and never knew!? I'll take the injectors off but not sure what to do with them.

      Ther is a screen in the fuel regulator that more then likely needs to be cleaned. Best way to clean it is with hot water and a soft wire (speaker wire). Make sure to clean both side of the screen. One side is hard to see. I’ve had to fix a few 1250 bandits with this problem

    • @sv1000rider
      @sv1000rider 3 роки тому

      Cody, this is spot on. I'd bet the majority of pump failures are due to the internal steel screen filter in the fuel pressure regulator housing getting clogged. In my case, the external mesh filter disintegrated and completely packed the steel mesh filter. I'm surprised the bike ran at all!

    • @ptstransky

      I sold the bike a couple of years ago. It was fine then.

  • @RockerGuy0001
    @RockerGuy0001 5 років тому

    The only minor problem is I won't run the pump dry. They need fluid to cool them. A short run should be ok, but people need to keep this in mind.

    • @ptstransky

      True! Good point. True for almost any pump. Thanks

    • @ptstransky
      @ptstransky  3 роки тому

      Yes, just quit. Check the spark. If good, fuel is most likely culprit. You should hear fuel pump click on when ignition is turned on.

    può darmi un consiglio?

    • @ptstransky
      @ptstransky  4 роки тому +1

      Could be something as simple as a gas cap not venting well. I am assuming you changed the fuel filters while you had it apart. From limited info I would look at fuel starvation, caused by heat.. good luck

    • @ptstransky
      @ptstransky  4 роки тому +1

      There is a small mesh screen in the plastic part where the pump fits into which also should have been cleaned out if I remember correctly. I was reminded of this by another commenters

      avrei un'altra domanda...
      nel caso dovessi acquistare una nuova pompa carburante, la pompa della 1250 si può montare su una Suzuki Bandit 650?
      grazie ancora..
