Some games where that case was a genius concept to be a tutorial or introduce you to something new... but in this game, you actually have a choice. Even more amazingly, the designer(Toby) put all the effort into making sure every scenario had some form of difference in the outcome. How you respond, how you do things, complete them, fail them.. so on and so fourth... truly making your adventure, unique to your own experience. Not just a line of story to follow that will always happen. Best game ever x3

Although I actually just sat there for a while and didn't do anything, just yellow. You can actually move to the side and miss your shots if you want, it won't progress anything. Eventually I went back to the story.

I think, on the off-chance that you memorize the solution to this puzzle and execute it successfully, that this is foreshadowing that Alphys is kind of a fraud.
The funny thing is, failing any of the other encounters has Mettaton make some random bullshit excuse off the fly while Alphys is stuttering to think of one. So he's really looking out for his friend in this facade...until the end fight.
Even though Alphys is probably my least favorite of the characters (not poorly designed, just not my favorite personality), it's still a real kick in the dick to call her out for it.

The rules to the color tile puzzle: 1. Green and pink do nothing. 2. You can't walk on yellow or red. 3. If you walk on orange, your flavor will than be an orange. 4. To get rid of the orange flavor, walk on purple. 5. Purple makes you move forward a tile. 6. You can't walk on blue if your flavor is orange or if a yellow tile is next to it. 7. The lemon flavor does nothing.
I was wondering if beating the tile puzzle was possible... Funny how if you don't finish it, Alphys is late in deactivating the fire, but if you finish it on your own... Well, she's a bit slow on the pick-up. Not to mention, the interaction here REALLY drives home how this was all set-up.

The rules to the color tile puzzle:
1. Green and pink do nothing.
2. You can't walk on yellow or red.
3. If you walk on orange, your flavor will than be an orange.
4. To get rid of the orange flavor, walk on purple.
5. Purple makes you move forward a tile.
6. You can't walk on blue if your flavor is orange or if a yellow tile is next to it.
7. The lemon flavor does nothing.

I was wondering if beating the tile puzzle was possible... Funny how if you don't finish it, Alphys is late in deactivating the fire, but if you finish it on your own... Well, she's a bit slow on the pick-up.
Not to mention, the interaction here REALLY drives home how this was all set-up.
What is up with mettatons voice? When he does that "Ohhh yes" It sounds really deep but sometimes he says "Yeah!" and then it doesn't sound that deep.. Huh.
