Great advice, "Pay attention". That is true for running any kind of equipment. Think of farmers planting or harvesting. . . . long hours and fatigue, spell disaster. Of course, John Q. Public, plans a vacation with long hours of driving and drifts over a line on a curve and you likely know the rest of the story. Thanks for sharing your day.
Your Co-Pilot, Bailey, looked at those two (2) Chrome Lug Covers and was Thinking, 🤔 Dad, that would have bought two (2) bags of Premium Dog Treats. 😬👍
Pat attention is always sound advice. So many cars & trucks today have "avoidable" crashes (not accidents). Like middle lane hoggers who have no idea what's going on around them. Brain in neutral. Driving is a skill, so learn or potentially die.
Another great video Dan Bailey sure takes notice when you say Pay Attention her little ears prick up and she looks at the camera Safe travels Dan from Peter Marshall in Sydney Australia..
First of all, it looks so weird watching the two lifts stay "stationary" as the trailer moves away. It looks as if the wheels aren't moving but the lifts are working perfect in tandem order. Next, Effingham is just about 100 miles from the old Chanute AFB where my father was stationed at from 01/01/71 thru 12/30/74. Rings of memories of the wind storms, tornadoes, , Thunderstorms, Hail Storms, Ice Storms, Concrete Storms ( Heavy Wet Snow), Horrible Humidity, High Heat and Extreme Cold coming off of Lake Michigan. Learned a ton of great things there, and loud of things that maybe I shouldn't have learned. Made trails in the corn field behind our homes that spelled out bad words, if you looked at them from the air. Loved watching the planting in the Spring and the Combines in the harvest. Loved the fireflies (we don't get them here in Utah for some reason). Even loved going to Chicago to see a Cub's Game at Wrigley before the lights were installed. Saw a Sox game at Comidky before ît came down. Went to the Museum of Science and Industry and the Field Museum. Worked in the Commissary for tips only and loved that job. Swam at the NCO pool most every day of the Summer when I want over at the Officer's Pool with other friends. Had a 5-Speed Stingray Bike and made that base my own. Would ride all over the flight line ( the base was known as a 'closed base' in that the runways were 'closed' to military and other traffic, except for aero-club aircraft. When we cross certain parts of the runways because of walkways we were warned to watch for low flying aircraft). So much to do for this young teen back then. So when you talk about stopping at Effingham you trend to bring back many memories. Thanks!
One Always has to think Safety First!......years ago in OK i saw a trucker he had 3 stars on his truck...... 3 Million Miles no accidents! I think that's a very good record to be proud of!
Seeing the draper header on the trailer, reminded me, my brother in-law and his second youngest daughter, would take corn headers and draper headers, from the manufacturer, in Southern Manitoba, down to the Midwestern states. Best wishes from Northern Manitoba.
Dan, after years of flatbed, im now instructing new drivers at a CDL school in OKC. This last week, I said those very words of caution to my "best" student who had just crushed a cone. Its only a rubber cone here. But go ask SuperTruckerDan how much a new fender or radiator for his Pete would cost.
There's the new parts cost plus installation. Then there is the down-time. (lost income) In today's world that can be weeks. Then there is the cost of staying away from home, not in the truck, or travel to/from home. How about damage to your reputation; damage to your driving record. That means insurance costs soar. If you're company driver, you are less likely to be hired or at a reduced rate for the perceived risk they are adding. Depending on the circumstances - it might cost you your job! Again, depending on the circumstances, you might be forced out of your trucking career. Your self confidence can be in the crapper - which leads to all kinds of other issues. It's a whole lot easier & CHAPER to PAY ATTENTION AT ALL TIMES.
That's pricey for an oil change.Up here in Ontario my last change on 6NZ Cat using Shell Rotella and grease job was $343.00 Cnd.which would be about $265.00 US.
Wow that's some header comb Dan I guess they just are building them bigger and better all the time "aye" ,the truck ,bailey and yourself all looking good mate stay safe "RB" downunder
I run a dedicated load Dan and it takes me through Atlanta, GA every other day and there's always accidents, mostly from either going to fast of just not paying attention. Too many trucks tailgating four wheelers and other trucks. There's no reason for it. 22 years out on the road and it's like a demolition derby out here now. I'm ready to retire, don't know how you've kept at it so long. Love your channel brother. Almost makes me want to go back to open deck...almost
I have trigger finger on both ring fingers, and my arm catches occasionally from when I fractured my shoulder years ago. Last year I got my first massage in over 20 years. The next day I had full movement of my shoulder and my left ring finger, and a lot more range on my right ring finger. Now I try to go once a month. It's a lot cheaper and more enjoyable than going to a physical therapist.
Another great video. A couple of loads ago you explained your reasoning for having the chain handles out there so you can monitor if they are tight. I always used to wonder why you did that. Thank for sharing with us.
Great videos Dan! I thought I heard you say a couple of times in previous videos that you did not buy that truck for fuel mileage? Just gigging you Dan I know Fuel is crazy high! “THANKS JOE” !!! Thanks for taking us along on your adventures! Bullet Bob from far W. Texas!🤠😃👍❤️
Another great video Dan. Loved the music, this video was so relaxing to hear and watch. So many drivers do not pay attention they should while driving. On the phone, texting is done far to often. I don’t get it. Ya fuel mileage is such a big thing these days. Plus just my opinion but a driver driving at 72 mph tires faster and misses more of what is going on around him. Anywho Big Dan have a great day and stay safe..
Dan, I've had trigger finger twice on my left hand ring finger. I used a finger splint to stop it locking. You can buy one at any pharmacy. I did get a shot of something in the hand and it cured it both times. It's a pain in the ass for sure but curable.
Good on ya Dan! Never pass up a teaching opportunity on safe operations of the equipment as well as personal safety around and on the equipment. Safe trails make for steady profits; can't make a dime in the body shop (truck or hospital).
I noticed you didn't put a twist in the straps, was that by their suggestion or by your choice? Your Cadillac seems to running great and that's nice fuel mileage your getting ...👍
Just hauled the same model 45 header out of Moline Wednesday. How about them Tee hooks, what a racket. The riser wall is 3/16" ample to support a hook on a 10k-lb header.
Dan, how much do those .99cent plastic covers cost now???? I retired in 2020..... I think the last ones I bought at The Chromeshop in Hebron Ohio were 1.59.....
Dan, @8:05 it sounds like the Dorsey trailer has a dump valve to raise the rear axle? I didnt know you had it on the Dorsey also. I know U raise the front axle to save on tolls and save the tires. Could U switch axles to run on the front and keep the rear axle up, to even out tire, brake wear?
My trigger thumb did not improve prior to surgery -- hard to believe how painful and how much discomfort a trigger thumb can be ... Thanks for another great video ...
Super Trucker Dan...... I enjoy your choice of music included in your Vlogs. I was just wondering, do you and other Vloggers have total control of the music, do you have to pay a fee in order to use the music, or????? Just wondering. Thanks and be safe.
You have such a positive attitude Dan. Seems like all I hear are complaining truck drivers these days, and I understand why. Our government is screwing truck drivers over, but you just keep plugging away with your best buddy by your side. Take care.
Hey Dan, quick question. Do you ever get told by anyone that when you haul those tar machines , that there should not be a placard on there?? I don't think they have a product in them when you pick them up. Just wondering why the shipper puts them on when they are empty. Have a good run down to Laredo. I used to drive outta there for a big carrier. Be safe.
If they are used and possibly still have residue of the product in them they have to be placarded. But I believe these are new ones which wouldn't apply
@@freedomfan4272 Wouldn't the placards be on from the getgo, so that the seller doesn't have to strain his little brain cells to remember to put them on before sale? Heaven forbid that anyone should have to think for themselves, these days!
Interesting that you say you run your oil changes out a bit because of no idle, I'd have thought 16,000 was a little early? How often do you change the oil in the transmission and diffs?
@@azcactusflower1 No, oil analysis is used as a basis for extending oil change intervals. I just change the oil on the severe service schedule, and have had my last 5 vehicles very rusty, but the engines used very little oil, if any. As I posted earlier oil is cheaper than engine rebuilds. If Dan does, say 5 extra oil changes, because the oil is able to provide better lubrication, cutting down on wear. The engine lasts longer, he makes more money, between rebuilds. An extra 2 grand gets you a long way down the highway, before a rebuild.
Trigger finger hurts. Get it quite often. Cure? Grab offending digit, when it happens, and bend it rapidly backwards and forwards. Hurts but usually stops it for a while! 😳
My dad taught me. Look left, then right, then left, and frankly do it again...and then, go, but still look out your mirrors, to check.
We sure enjoy the rides in your truck and the music you choose in your videos. Be safe out there!
Hello Dan and Bailey good to hear from you two you two have a safe drive and please keep the videos rolling...

your not mounting me anytime lol
Haven heard you montion anything the dorsey trailer? You guys part ways

I would recommend to car and rv drivers to be patient and give trucks plenty of room.
Thanks for watching

Do you unhook the trailer n have the fifth wheel greased. I pull the same trailer all the time and that gets overlooked.

Made that Louisiana to Corpus Christi trip too many times. Lots of places to get some good boudain, particularly at The Best Stop in Scott, La.
No longer using truck pad?
That was an expensive "free" shirt
That Draper John Deere head is a nice load. Do you need to put wood under the support legs they supply or do they sit ok metal to alloy floor ?????

What is that long green thing and what is it used for. ?
Why not add a bypass filter and test, you can sometimes get 50k or more between changes,
Are you still adding the gallon of Lucas to your oil or aren’t you doing that with this truck?
