I personally would not confuse minimalism with inefficiency; I've had the Ekster for awhile now (after trying ridge alternatives first) and it is a way better experience that is minimalism perfected. One-touch and I'm accessing all my cards; don't overpay for the ridge.
Thanks bro
You’re wallet has a GPS tracker but don’t know where it’s at. 😂
Was going to say the same thing 😂
I came here for this comment 😂
I laughed way too hard when he said that
He needs a GPS tracker for his GPS
What does a wedding have to do with rfid blocking
Both are a great choice but, it all boils down to personal preference. I’ve had the ekster for about 3 years and I’m perfectly satisfied with it. The Ridge if and when I decide on something different is next. Thanks for the video.
I've had the ridge little over a year, i do love it it's pretty easy to fan out card when you don't have that many, 6 is pretty much the golden number. sadly i carry more cards now and it is becoming harder to fan out.
Have had an ekster for about a year the button still feels good
I was worried about the cash clip it’s pretty solid no slipping out even when pulling out of pocket would get it over the ridge considering it’s cheaper and better functionality
2:22 no way. If Ridge complicated their wallets with buttons or mechanisms I would never even consider getting one. They are minimalist, simple and robust. They should not be anything more.
100% agree
I'm using the Ridge wallet for a few years, and I love the minimalist function. I decided to treat myself to the burnt titanium and I love the look of it.
same here, i treated myself with the 24 karat gold plated one.
@@noel2577 how’s the wear/scratching on the 24k? Does the pvd coating application seem pretty durable?
@@dt8694 yeah I wonder that too
@@noel2577 update on how it’s holding up? I love the idea of buying the gold option, but if it’s flimsy then it’s completely worthless
@@jalene150Who said anything about it being flimsy?
I only carry $40 cash… cause most of everything I purchase I buy them with debit/credit cards. I’ve been using ridge for years… but I’m ready to try Ekster…. The feature I want is the fanning out of the cards… I’ve dropped cards on the floor trying to pull them out of the ridge….
I think ridge is way more minimalistic. Forget about a push button and all the extra.
🤡. Just say you're broke.
@@cross8215 The ridge is more expensive 🤡
@@cross8215 just say you're broke
@@cross8215 the ridge costs more. 🤔
With Ridge, just push the cards ALL the way up from the bottom finger/thumb access and the squeeze the bottom of the wallet to fan the cards.
Vs the ekster button switch... No comparison.
@@JoeyMartz Right. I actually ditched my Ridge for an Ekster. 😂
I've had my Ridge for about 2 years now and am switching over to an Ekster. I like that Ridge looks a lot cleaner, but it just too annoying to look through your cards.
I bought my hubby the Ekster and his co-worker ordered one immediately after he saw my hubby take it out. Very cool wallet, I'm considering getting one myself 😅
Don’t buy ridge get a knock off instead I’ve had the rossm wallet (ridge knockoff) for 2 years and worked just fine for everyday use at work and on the go I’ve recently bought Ekster because I wanted something that looked like a wallet and it’s more fashionable
Wrong!! The Knock offs suck!!
I have a Ridge Tobacco leather. For looks I prefer the Ridge. Functionality looks better on Ekster. The wallet has been amazing but I personally wouldn’t pay full price for a Ridge. I would wait till they go on sale.
A simple bifold is more minimalistic than the ekster with its size and mechanisms.
Ridge also has an apple AirTag option. You need to give more even reviews or at least mention that. Ridge also has a money clip option.
that's not an "rfid plate" bro..... RFID is built in on the ekster. That plate just gives you extra storage option.
A good elastic band..... seems like the way to go.
It may be a stupid question, but why would I remove the rfid blocker when I go to a wedding? It's not the first video where I hear that 😅
That plate isn’t the RFID blocker. It’s in the wallet itself.
Ridge wallets will destroy your pants pockets. I loved mine, but got tired of a bunch of holes in my front pocket because the edges are too sharp and hard.
What has going to a wedding got to do with the RFID card?
If you are even thinking of buying this pricey cardholder, you are buying it to keep your money secure. At a wedding you will spend the most amount of money in the shortest time. Better keep that shit safe.
Meaning to have it look a little classier!.. come on!!
@AngeloR674 Mate no wallet unless made of polished gold will make you look classier.
I saw a video where a guy pinch the corner of the ridge wallet and the cards fanned out better
If you compare the 18k gold ekster it is $250 as well gotta compare apples to apples for pricing
Exactually, plus there are cheaper ridge wallet models that is the same price as the ekster wallet. And he also didnt mention that the ridge has a change tray as an option. dont think ekser does.
How durable is the Ekster? I'm a soldier and on Ranges a lot. I'm also in a lot of sandy and woodsy environment. I like thw functionality of the Ekster so far from reviews but I never held either of them in hand.
It's a solid wallet, I don't know what sand would do with the push button over time but you could have that in your tac vest instead of front pocket and it'll be fine:) Thank you for your service.
I found out that groovelife has a wallet and it looks pretty legit!
@@sabrinahebert7885 I heard there belts are also very nice.
Ekster has a 1 year warranty and the Ridge backs their product up with a lifetime warranty. The push mechanism on the Ekster wallets are known to break. Good luck after a year :). Not even a hard choice. Ridge all day long.
Beautiful soldier
When is someone going to a wedding once a week like bro?/ Also you dont know Italians and there money, some older folks carry FAT stacks of money with them. They just fold it over once and it looks like a phone book its crazy something like one old guy whipped out a stack of just hundreds when he was in my shop and i guess he has somewhere in the ball park of 2grand on him so yeah. Ekster is probably the way to go especially the leather wrap iteration
Also im very particular when it comes to fumbling about with things so if im at the check out and there is a line behind me i dont want to be the idiot fumbling about with cash, cards, money and my purchase all at once like that so yeah.
I paid 9$ for a wallet identical to the non ekster type from menards. I ❤️ it!!!
I got a cheap version of the ridge wallet. It fell apart in a month or two. The imitations aren’t worth it.
I think I’m gonna go Ekster for the button press.
thanks for the review. I think ease of use sells Ekster for me.
I have the forged ember ridge and the matte black ekster I love them both haha
If you had to choose between either or which one would you choose? I don't have a lot of Cards I do like the Eksters fanning out cards ability through the push of a button but the Ridge I think could endure a more rougher work environment.
@@sabrinahebert7885 I'd go with the ridge. I love the ekster and the button is so cool but it like to stick and it's plastic so I'm not sure how long It will last. The ridge seems more durable. Its in my pocket at work all day in a saw shop and it still holds up.
@@michaelandrew8493 Thanks a lot!
@@sabrinahebert7885 the ridge customer service is amazing too. I stripped one of the screws and sent them a picture and they sent me a whole new wallet for free and let me keep the old one. And it was the forged ember one they are 145 dollars.
Michael let me buy your other one off you. Lol I want the forged pacific but it’s $150
I'm not a fan of the money band/clip that has you money just free to fall out either side. I would prefer a money pouch of some sort
They clip on the ridge is very strong, the money never slips out.
@@kidShibuya good to know. Thanks for the feedback
Me too, with my current pouch let’s all my coins fall out like sonic the hedgehog. I need something sturdy to carry my gold coins around when I go on adventures with my talking moose.
@@oscarstephen3297 wtf?
Counts out 8 bills "i dont think youd have that much"
Me looking at my ridge with $2500 in 100's always in it 😂
Thanks for the video. I guess I need to stop being like George Costanza with my wallet!
I tend to fidget a lot, flick cards, twirl pens, tap fingers, so I think the Ekster would be better for me hahaha
The ridge wallet was designed intentionally with the express purpose of being so durreable and sturdy that you could make it a family heirloom while being so light weight that actually putting it in your back pocket wouldnt make you suffer
The only two points brought up are price point and functionality, which price point is useless cause you can get a ridge for only 6 bucks more, and most of the time if you take a look around the area you can find a code for a deal on them from UA-camrs and make it cost less than the ekster. That's how I remember getting *mine* for 60 bucks.
Secondly, sure, the functionality of using a button to fan out your cards is kinda neat, but the moment that stops working the damn thing is useless. Hell if it doesn't have a way to unscrew it you might literally have no way to get your cards back without physically destroying it. You can still fan the cards with the ridge wallet, just leave a corner in the wallet and fan it like a deck of cards. I won't deny it's not as efficient, but that's not the fucking point of the god damn ridge wallet.
Personally? I think The Ridge is better, but in the case of a reviewer's perspective I think it's important to acknowledge that both of these wallets are amazing at what they're trying to do, which each wallet has a *completely* separate end game.
I really hope this isn't supposed to be a review, because if it is you need to do proper research instead of just dropping a biased opinionated video. But in the case that it isn't, you can't just drop this and then say "fuckin watch this before you get it!!" Cause without something like "first impressions" in the title, random people who happen to scroll by your channel won't understand how opinionated and uninformed this video which is clearly meant to sway the audience one way or the other is.
you make it seem like ekster isn't almost as expensive as ridge still lmao
As a matter of fact ridge has a cheaper one that is the same price as the esker one. He just bought two of the more expensive designs
I'm thinking of buying on of these for my brother. He's a waiter and carries regular amounts of cash on him. That's my only hang up on either one...the bills are not 'secured' well enough and I don't like them being exposed. Any comments on this from owners reading my comment?
The Ekster has leather versions that can cover the cash.
Ridge is perfectly fine, no need gimmicky gadgets.
Everybody has more then 8 bills on them!!
The ridge doesn’t hold more cards. The Ekster holds up to 3 more cards.
This dude was clearly paid by Ekster for this review. I bought the Parliament Fortuna leather wallet. Although I love the look of this wallet, that's really all it's good for is looks. After 2 weeks of having this wallet I dropped it no higher than 3 ft from the ground It landed flat there were no marks on the leather or anywhere else visible on the wallet from hitting the ground. The next time I went to retract my cards the button was broken. After pulling my cards out The mechanism which fans the cards made of plastic was broken off inside. Ekster has horrible customer service. It takes four to five days to receive an email back in response. From there you can expect one email per day back and forth until you get a resolution. It took me 10 days to finally get them to tell me they were giving me a full refund. I do not recommend this wallet I would not buy this wallet unless you want to have problems. Most of these wallets that are built in the USA have lifetime warranties. I will never pay $200 for a wallet that breaks this easily and does not have a lifetime warranty!
Wish this guy wasn't so bias, and just give us a fair review , you can tell he has a hard on for ekster
The only problem with bridge is the card going dirty in few days
Ekster just came out with a 18k gold one with a metal button for 250
I'm going to try to get my hands on that one and review it:)
@@TipsNNTricks I'm curious how the metal button holds up
I think ekster better easier to get cards
I heard that on Ekster the switch mechanism is made of plastic and prone to breaking
How is the gold ridge wallet holding up after use?
Sorry man but you got the RFID crammed in the front when its supposed to be in the back and then you throw the cash on top lmao sorry I'm just triggered but my guy your using it wrong
How many weddings are you going to?
Samsung has a smart tag for a while now
You have a wallet GPS tracker but don't know where it is? Lol can't you track the device to find it? 😂😂😂
The ekster's button will wear out, the Ridge won't
Team ekster here. The card release and accessories are essential.
I just use a rubber band that I found jajaja
Well, neither of those are what I expect from a wallet. From my perspective, they're solving the wrong problems ... and not even all that well. I'll stay with my old, non-minimalist solution, thank you.
There is literally cheaper version of the ridge wallet that is the same price as the eksker wallet. You just bought the two most expensive version of the ride wallet.
