I have recently bought the PENON Voltage , the latest Tribrid and in my opinion the spiritual successor to the very unique PENON Volt.
The Voltage is a 10 driver per side iem, 2xDD in a compound set up, ( similar to the PENON 10th Anniversary) 4 X SONION BA for the mids and highs and 4 X SONION EST for the highs and ultra highs.
All of this is packed inside a ruby coloured resin shell that still has one last trick, 2 switches to effect the bass and highs.
But let's talk sound:
The Voltage has the newer tuning style from PENON, one which is a little more mainstream, but still keeps the PENON magic of its house sound.
What that means is that the mids are the star of the show.
They are clean, detailed , yet musical and very organic, they just sound right....to my ears!
Bass is perfectly executed and be it with the switch On or Off , theres never any lack of authority, enough impact , texture and speed to complement the mids and highs, rendering my music selection perfectly played back.
Finally the upper mids and highs, which stand out by the smooth and perfect coherent matching between the BA and EST.
The sound of the Voltage is as close to perfection as I would want, with no flaws or areas where things are not rendered perfectly.
It's an IEM where the design premise was met and it's price , 1199usd , makes sense when taken into account the performance obtained.
Having said that I am sure some will disagree and say it needs more bass, I don't think so....this is not a Basshead iem, although capable of providing ample amounts of high quality low end,
Some might say that the mids are not clean enough, well again I disagree, the balance between analytical and musical is perfect.
Some might even suggest technically it's not on par with its rivals.....well again I ask , how is the balance between "musical organic" and " technical efficiency" on those others?
All I do know is that the Voltage is a phenomenal iem, ticking all the right boxes for me and dare I say for a large percentage of people that will listen to it , without the bias sometimes present.
Lastly I want to apologise for two minor flaws in my review:
I mentioned the PENON Voltage DD where a quasi Isobaric....no they are as side by side compound.
Also i said the Simgot EM10 was a hybrid and no it's actually a Tribrid..1x DD plus 8 x BA plus 1 X PZT.

Happy to see you with such a gem in hands. A gentleman like you who truthfully enjoys the hobby and provides so much honest and positive content to it deserves those "opportunities" more than anyone. Love your videos. You've become my favorite reviewer for iems. Haven't considered doing a tiger list? It's getting hard to categorize so many IEMs. I have the Butasturs, Monarch mk2, EPZ 530, Dunu SA6 mk1, Veedix Silver String, and they are getting hard to compare them since they are all SO good. Would love your opinion on them!

definitely interested in the Prestige Ltd's signature treble compared against the Voltage's treble.
I'm torn between those two. I was about to get the ltd when all of a sudden voltage came out.. need someone to compare them 😢.. or maybe I can triangulate as Tony says voltage's very similar to the mega5 est, so est vs ltd?
@@SethiBybel the problem in iem world is you also need several ppl saying Mega5EST is very close to Voltage before triangulation. I've seen around 3 comparisons of voltage and Mega5EST, one said they are different, the other said Voltage is an upgrade on all fronts. Across says very slight upgrade.
Btw, Prestige is tuned for treble, as confirmed by the person who tuned it. Voltage is mids first, then treble refinement. I believe Prestige Ltd goes for an airy sound and Voltage does not.
@@Viewer13128 yes you're right, we need several people confirming voltage and est are similar. We'd also need several voltage and ltd comparisons.. it could be months before that happens.. might have to buy both 😄😢

Nice Tony..Do the ESTs have limited life span ?
Not that I know of.....have some earphones with EST that are 4 years old and going strong.
The limit to their lifespan will be how you use it....if you abuse be prepared to damage it.....but that goes for anything
Compared to 10th would be nice 2, yee i love that ruby red. Was maybe a bit less bass than i expected atlest graphwise

This is a hard pass at this price. I can get the DTE900 or IO Volare at less than half the cost during sales.
Yea, diminishing returns hit hard around $700 imo. I'm looking forward to soundrhyme's upcoming tribrid. Apparently it'll be more expensive than the dte900 but no confirmed pricing yet. Hope it ain't a crazy jump.
I agree to an extent ,but owning a DTE900 I can tell you they are two very different IEMs.
As for Volare haven't yet heard it but at that price I don't thing it will beat the Mega5EST MK3....could be wrong
Based on the IEMs you listed, the tuning you want is not the Voltage, so it's just a pass anyway, without need to bring up price. On the other hand, if you were looking at the getting a sound like the Voltage, then definitely pass on the DTE900 and Volare. They are not on the same level in terms of finesse, refinement, timbre, tonal balance, etc.

@@Inexplicable-fx9uyI don't think so. I believe some reviews say the impact's mids are better and then when the impacts came out there where people saying other iems have better mids. So, voltage high end mids? Yes, summit-fi? I don't think so. I think for that you'd have to pay over 3k maybe 4k
