- This Thunderbolt PCIE card does work with Firewire 400 products. I even got it to work with my Canopus ADVC 110 Firewire DV converter but it does need the power adapter for adequate power. Some motherboards may require you to change a few settings in the BIOS.

I got one of those and it was an easy install. It surprised me that I didn't have to go into the UEFI BIOS setup and look for some obscure setting that seems like only a few people would even know exists. I got my card from eBay and it works. I don't know how well its USB 2.0 works since I did not get the cable for that but instead the all important 5 pin one to enable Thunderbolt. I am unclear on what exactly that THB-C cable does but it seems to one one of those things that is needed to make this thing work at all for some reason. All I had to do for mine was get the driver from Gigabyte. I did not do a firmware update on it since it is working fine. Did you do the update? Did it make it work better or worse? BTW, I don't want you to try it just to find out and end up with it not working as expected, I am just looking to see if there is any positive or negative about updating the card firmware. It really did surprise me to have it work so easily given Thunderbolt's infamous reputation for being hard to get working. I was actually ready for disappointment and uninstalling the card.
Thanks for the comments. I am glad it worked out of the box for you but I actually just added in the description box that some motherboards may require changing a few settings in the BIOS. Mine still works great.
What's the difference between this one the bigger brother and it's little brother the $60 one I see they both have thunderbolt 3 and I'm thinking about getting one of these for an Apollo interface but I'm thinking about going for the smaller ones it's cheaper
The Alpine Ridge is older but it should work decent. I think Thunderbolt 4 PCIe cards might be on the market now.
@@TechTVusa thank you
@@Ziyoblader You're welcome.
new to thunderbolt. so you take a GPU's display port and plug it into the "input" on your thunderbolt card, and then it lets you connect multiple displays? like a powered hub?
also, how's USB C charging for android devices that support fast charge, will it allow sync and fast charge? i have the opportunity to get one of these cards pretty cheap, although it sounds like i'd be treating it more like a glorified USB slot. thing is, the USB ports on the back panel of my mobo (aorus gaming 7 op z370) don't charge very well., including the single USB C port that's there.. the front ports DO charge at a decent rate, about 8-10 minutes slower than if i were to use a wall outlet (for fast charge). so i wonder if fast charge will work if I use one of these cards.
You can combine the power of your two graphics cards output to send out to one 8K monitor. As far as your other questions I cannot say one way or the other. I bought this products to connect my Intensity Shuttle and DV converter. It works for that.
i have a 3900x amd cpu whats a good motherboard with thunderbolt 3 are should i switch to intel?
There are AMD motherboards with Thunderbolt 3 but Intel might be your best bet depending on the software you use. Intel has Quick Sync and the new Alder Lake CPUs seem promising. If you want to see a demonstration of Quick Sync I have left a link below.

@@TechTVusa ok i use it for music daw like fl srudio protools etc so i need thunderbolt for my apollo twin x interface.
@@VST2323 Intel CPUs have built in GPUs that will work OK for audio editing. No need to buy a GPU.
@@TechTVusa ok thanks i will do that
I cant see if my school computer MOBO (Asus Prime B360m A) got Thunderbolt? Cuz we would like to use this PCIE Card for Streaming etc.. And i cant find anything about Thunderbolt on the internet atm.. Do u know if the GIgabyte card and the B360m A works together?
You would have to look and see if it has the Thunderbolt header.
Hi, I have a PC OMEN X by HP Desktop PC - 900. Can I still install this card? Thx for the reply.
Your can if your motherboard has the Thunderbolt 3 header.
I want my motherboard B550M PRO-VDH WIFI( windows ) to work with apollo twin x.. which thunderbolt 3 extension card is suitable for my motherboard..? Please help me
If it has a Thunderbolt header any of them should work.
It is possible to boot a Windows OS from an external thunderbolt SSD drive connected to this extension card on thunderbolt port?
Of course you can. You can even boot from a USB stick with Windows installed.
I have a motherboard mag b365m mortar but I m not sure if will support pcie thunderbolt what do you think?
It has to have a Thunderbolt header.
I have an ASRock motherboard z370 it’s thunderbolt 3 capable. I’m wondering which card to get there are few options. One from ASRock , this one from gigabyte and one from Asus . But idk if they will work on my motherboard
I stated it will work with other motherboards in the video.
I have an Asrock Z490 Taichi Mobo. Where do I connect the F_USB cable on my mobo?
You can connect it to any USB 2.0 header.
I have a x570 master aorus rev1.2 and I have this hooked up and cannot get it to work correctly. It's basically just become two additional usbc ports for me ugh
You have to make sure your motherboard has the thunderbolt headers. If it does you need to enable the thunderbolt feature in the bios and on top of that you have to install the drivers.
@@TechTVusa So my computer does have a Thunderbolt header 5 pin and I've done all of what you suggested but what's strange is while searching through my bios I've found zero thunderbolt options. I've searched and searched for it but can't find anything in my advanced options. For some reason it reads as Titan Ridge Type C in the IO settings.
@@TechTVusa could it be I'm using the 5 pin cord incorrectly? as that has a few heads on it and maybe I've got the wrong one plugged in?
@@joshhamester In the BIOS it might be under PCIE configuration. Every motherboard bios is different.
What is the difference between Version 2.0 and 1.0 of this AIC?
It is a revision but I am not sure what the difference is.
I found this www.reddit.com/r/ASRock/comments/hx3eil/gigabyte_rev_2_titan_ridge/
@@mbsfaridi I mentioned in the video it does have a 5 pin header and a 3 pin header so that might be the reason for 2.0 revision.
@@TechTVusa Yeah.
