Really falling in love with your channel. I have my first half marathon in 10 weeks. Been running for years but I never followed a plan. I'm interested in your first tip here about 3-4-5 x 1 mile once per week. Thanks. Amazing channel I'm really glad I found you guys :)
Just want to say thanks, I've been watching this channel like crazy for the last week. My wife and I signed up for a half marathon about 7 1/2 weeks and I need all of the help I can get.
Just started running in May, ran my first 5k June 1st and got 36 minutes, decided to take it seriously and 2 weeks later came in 30th and got 26:37. This past Sunday as a part of my 2020 Marathon climb I ran a 5 mile race and finished in 38:55 beating my goal and expectations. I’ve learned so much from your channel, and used my personal mindset to focus and intensify these strategies to the point where I know I can do a half marathon, so I am. I’m down 80 pounds since the beginning of this year and in 8 weeks from now, I’ll be attacking my first half marathon thanks to strength training from my physical training friends, and diet advice from my nutritionist who’ve admired the transformation I put myself through, my own running routines, and now this one as well. Running is in your mind, if you want it, you’ll work for it, and if you recover correctly, the results will come. I would love to chat, or get in touch with you, but any tips or encouragement would be amazing. I’m “new” to running but thanks to your methods college athletes I went to school with call me a pro. I owe a lot to you folks over here.
What exercises and diet programme was this please! Im in the same situation and want to train better for my next half marathon which is in just over 3 months. Thankyou
Tomorrow l will run the second half marathon training. I practice 10 weeks for Half Marathon program. First l can finished in 2:30 hours. And the second l hope l will run in time 2:15 hours. I'm beginner for half marathon. Thanks for your video.
Another great video with detailed information. I love the mile repeats. I think practicing your race pace with one mile intervals has great value in all the aspects you described and especially in teaching you pace. Good job again!!
Just this week started my 2nd half marathon training plan so it’s perfect timing. 10 week plan this time. My 1st & only Half was done in 2:25:36 so I wanna be faster this time.
4:10 Thanks man. Just did a 10 mile (Negative split) long run today👌. At a more aggressive pace too. My goal for this December is to run Sub 2 hours and now I feel like I can definitely do it after this aggressive long run. The last 4 miles ended being around 7 min pace. The duration was 1 Hour, 25 minutes
Hi Run Experience team - I have a (pretty long) question about a half-marathon training plan. I started running when Covid hit, and very slowly worked my way up to a 5k. I then skipped almost a year, but this spring I decided to train for a half marathon. I found a 14-week plan that has 5 trainings a week, but I am unable to run 5 times a week. The reason is partially just a busy work schedule, but also I play tennis 1-2 times a week, swim at least once, and do weight training also once a week - plus the ~2 runs. (I've been swimming for ever, and love playing tennis too, so having a really hard time giving them up in exchange for running more per week). I do feel I am getting better at running, and completed all the trainings off of this training plan so far, and planning to do the same for the rest of the weeks, just in pretty much double the time than I was supposed to - so I'm afraid that this just won't be enough. I know most people are super dedicated, and seems like I just can't do that. Is it necessary to do the 3-5 runs a week, or can I still complete a half marathon training the way I train? I don't really have a time a want to run, just finish. Thanks for your help!

So should we be doing the repeats and the negative split long run on the same day? That's what it sounds like around 7:00. Just making sure I'm hearing this right. Thanks!
I am sorry, but I heard you say around 6:55 during your long run the last 35% should be at race pace, and you will have tired legs. Especially on tired legs, and especially having already done 1 mile repeats during the day. WAIT, do you suggest doing 1 mile repeats the same day you do your long run? I don't think that will be too good on your legs. DID you not meant that? Clarify that if you can, much appreciated
Great video ! I am planning to run a half marathon in a week and thinking of doing a 5k in a month. Is that too soon and if not how do we transition using these workouts?
A mile repeat, or 4 laps around a track, is a workout in which you repeat a mile the suggested amount of times in your workout. For example: if you workout says 5 x 1 mile repeat, you would run 1 Mile, rest a short amount of time, then repeat.
Hi, I have a question. I've been running regularly since March this year (until two weeks ago, 30 minutes 2-3 times a week on a treadmill at about 11-11.5 km/h) and sporadically for the past few years. I've recently started running outside (so much better!) and arranged with a friend to do a 10km at the end of September. I've run over 10km five times now (that's five times in my life!). My best time doing just 10km is 49:22 and I've just done my longest run - 13.74km (8.5 miles) in 1hr 20. My friend wants me to do a half-marathon instead. I'm not sure if I should, since I haven't been running properly for that long. I don't want to overdo it. I'm 43, but generally fairly fit (I think), BTW :-). Is it too soon, do you think?
Ok I've watched it three times, but still not certain. So do i do the mile repeats on say Monday, the negative splits on Tues and the drills on Wed? Or all three on the same day? Looking forward to the drills. Thanks
Thank you, i did the same thing, rewatch with the same question, how often do i do each of these and is this all i do? Sounds like I should do each one weekly.
I would start to ween off or taper beginning a week before. You can keep workouts in your routine but make them a little lighter, and definitely including a complete rest day or two in days leading up. You can do a light shakeout run 1-2 days before the race. Maybe around 2-3 miles at a moderate pace.
What should be diet for vegetarian runners .... You channel has really boasted my moral ... I am a beginner my half marathon timing is 3.47 mins I am a pure vegetarian ..Please suggest .Thank you
Planning on running the SF Half Marathon at the end of July, its going to be my first half and wanted to know what course I should run. The first half or second half?
not sold on the negative split strategy. can be useful maybe for beginners that do not know their potential/limits yet but if you can accelerate in the second half of a race you are probably not using your full potential. consistent speed is more efficient. I don't think pro runners do negative splits. mile repeats are great though and I love the channel by the way.
most pros negative split. This split isn't HUGE but let's say in a marathon you run 1:10 for the first half as a pro, the second half might be 1:05. You want to always finish stronger than you start instead of fizzling out.
I didn't have any plan yet. N dont know how to start n how to choose any program. Most of mu time exercise in HIiT like badminton n futsal. I just registered half marathon will be held at the end of november. Anyone help me?

Hi Nate , I’m new to running .. what do you mean by 3 by 1 Mile Repeats or 4 X 1 mile repeats ?
Same question lol, I ran Xc in cross country but definitely don’t remember. Kind of sucks not knowing.

Different days! I wouldn't do them on back to back days. Maybe a day or so apart with a day of strength training and a rest day thrown in as well.
Thank you, i did the same thing, rewatch with the same question, how often do i do each of these and is this all i do? Sounds like I should do each one weekly.
Im wondering how much time i should give a rest before a half race, can i run the day before or stop run a day or two before and restore more energy?

I am new to this or maybe I am dense. 3x1 mile? Exactly what does that mean? I apologize if this is an elementary question.
1 mile run. 2 min rest repeat 3 times.
Planning on running the SF Half Marathon at the end of July, its going to be my first half and wanted to know what course I should run. The first half or second half?

? so do you do a run after the drills?
You absolutely can! You could use drills as a warm up for your run. Maybe save them for your shorter run days though, versus the long.
Can I apply this to full marathon training?
Absolutely! Maybe alter the volume (mileage, reps, etc) to match your marathon needs.
I know its not a popular distance but could you make a 15K video?
Noted! We'll keep in mind for future videos, Jonathan! Thanks.
Thanks! I have a goal of 1:02 to be at a course record. It is hilly!!!
