- The Earls, Larry Chance (LIVE) Acapella
Life is but a Dream - Looking For My Baby
Larry Chance & the Earls perform their hits "Life is but a Dream" and "Looking for my Baby" live at Beach Channel High School, Queens NY.
Larry Chance - Lead
Bobby Coleman - 1st Tenor / Bass guitar
Bobby T. - 2nd Tenor / drums
Artie Loria - Bass & Baritone vocals
This lineup of the Earls (1987-1994) was perhaps one of the better lineups in the groups history - definitely vocally, where they went back to having that unique and tight harmonies as did the Original group and "The 7 Earls" days.
Top of their game for sure!
Larry was the best. Not only was he a great singer that can make any song sound good, he was also and incredible entertainer. He will be greatly missed.
Wow....Listen to that harmony, and Artie on bass is well, just fantastic.....Best version ever....Streetcorner Harmony at its finest!!!!!!!!
DOES NOT GET BETTER THAN THAT, KUDOS MY LONG TIME FRIEND , MIKEY
Comming from you Mike, that's a compliment! This line-up of The Earls rivals the original group and "the 7 Earls" lineups.
(Pop had those bass parts down like he was born singing on the corner of E.183 & Belmont Ave....oh wait, he was!!! Lol) glad u enjoy....Larry and the guys are legend material for sure!!
I listen to these gems all the time. Earls were one of the premiere groups with Larry on lead.
Larry Chance & the Earl's are one of my all-time favorite groups! Even my life loves Larry Chance, and she isn't even much into doo-wop music or golden oldies.
Some of the best music ever made!!!

COOL!
On this day in 1961 {June 22nd} The Earls performed "Life Is But A Dream"* on the Dick Clark ABC-TV weekday-afternoon program, 'American Bandstand'...
At the time the song was at #108 on Billboard's Bubbling Under the Top 100 chart, two weeks later it would peak at #107 and it spent seven weeks on the Bubbling Under chart...
The following year on December 9th, 1962 the Bronx, NY quartet's had it's only Hot Top 100 record, "Remember Then", it entered the chart at position #94, six weeks later it would peak at #24 {for 1 week} and it spent nine weeks on the Top 100...
* And from the 'For What It's Worth' department; the week that the Earls' "Life Is But A Dream" peaked at #108 on the Bubbling Under chart, there was another covered version of the same song at #115, this one was by the Brooklyn, NY quartet, The Classics {and of course it's available on You Tube}...
In addition, the original version of "Life Is But A Dream" by the Harptones first charted on July 21st, 1955 at position #8 on Billboard's R&B Territorial Best Sellers for New York chart...
