I know many of Philippa Gregory's works are not historically accurate and are more based off of gossip, legends, tales, etc... but I just really, really love the stories she tells using all of these lovely (and not so lovely) historical "characters." Beautiful video!
She at least sticks with the basic Outline. Its so good because we learn the basic history but we get all the drama she creates. She did everything perfectly. I cant watch Reign because of the sheer amount of inaccuracy but I loved these mini series'.
The tales she speaks are rumors, like Gregory wrote about Richard/Elizabeth pairing which was rumor and not actualy true. Use logic - if he made her illegimate, what would he gain to make her his wife? Nothing. The people were bribed by Tudors to spread the most vicious bullshit about Richard. It was proved by several historians. If you want more accurate stories, try Alisson Weir. At last, she write on the end of the book what is fiction and what is history to not confuse you like Gregory use to do it.
@@Hanculka13 she was not the only one to evoke the possibility of a wedding between Richard and Elizabeth. Shakespeare did too if I remember it correctly :)

It’s incredible right? How they captivated imagination, especially if they were alive today we probably would be terrified of them. Maybe not Edward, he was probably the best of them and the one people least care about. But he was the one who sought peace when he could, who ruled well, loved his wife, all he did for England, his family, and history kinda of forgot him. We barely talk about him or his reign today. But that’s how we know how great he was. In a time of great turmoil, civil war, a time when going to war year in year out was common practice, in his time in power he did manage to keep a relatively steady kingdom and a “boring “ situation which was great for the people who had been through so much. That’s actually why so many people at the time loved him

In the book. I think the boy really wasn't richard. Because usually when a child of the family died, elizabeth would be able to hear the call of a siren.
Elizabeth Woodville and Elizabeth of York are one of the best and most badass Queen of England. No wonder their great-great granddaughter and granddaughter Queen Elizabeth I got her beauty and strong attitude from them.
Funny how Elizabeth woodville was probably the mother of the “regnal” Name Elizabeth. Elizabeth of York was named after Elizabeth. Elizabeth I was name after Henry VIII mother - Elizabeth of York Then the name was connected to royalty and therefore many people named their children like that. The current queen was name Elizabeth and choose it as her regnal name as well

Beautiful video and perfect song to go with it! 😍 I read The White Queen and was desperate to get a copy of the BBC Production of the same when I learned that one existed. To me, the casting of The White Queen is brilliant. All the actors chosen for their respective roles in this series is exactly how I imagined the real historical persons to look like, to act, to feel. I’ve studied the Wars of the Roses for decades and am a hopelessly devoted fan of the House of York.

You know re-watching The White Queen if Henry Tudor didn't have the help of his mother Margaret Beaufort husband he would of lost at Bosworth and Richard would have won and the York family would of went on and he would of married his niece (Which I think is wrong by all means). I also don't think Richard nor his wife had anything to do with the princes being killed in the tower. I honestly think Margaret Beaufort had something to do with the death of the princes since she thought it was god wish that her son take the throne of England. I also think Elizabeth of York could of taken the throne for her self without marrying Henry Tudor since she is the daughter of Edward IV. It is also sad that Richard mother, wife and other loyal to house of York schemed right after Edward IV died so I understand why Elizabeth Woodville didn't trust Richard to look after her sons and why she took sanctuary again.
