I recently discovered Chan, and I must say her music makes me so happy. I started my journey with her music with "Sun"
It's that backing piano loop. I literally can't get enough of it. I wish I knew something else like that. Chan and her music are really interesting, too, but that's honestly what keeps bringing me back here.

THIS SONG IS JUST AMAZING
I once listened to this song in my car, in a parking lot , about five times in a row. It’s brilliant. I wanted to let it wash over me and absorb every nuance and whisper, contemplate every lyric and perspective. I think the piano is amazing and might be of a style that is called Montuno. There are qualities and timbres to Chan Marshall’s voice that I will describe as smokey, sultry, plaintive, intoxicating, sensual, etc. There are 3 of her contemporaries that I find to be equally stunning : Aldous Harding, Adrianne Lenker, and Regina Spektor. There is also Poppy Jean Crawford who I like very much and has the qualities of a superstar ; the way she sings and slings a red Rickenbacker.
Same, huge Cat Power fan, listened 1 time to the album, hated it. Didn't listen it for couple of years, this week re-listened, loved it very much. I have no idea how 'Ruin' escaped my attention first.
@@lennertcornette a few months ago I listened to the band Wet Leg ; they seem to get a lot of press. I didn’t like them at all. But then I listened to their Tiny Desk Home concert a few weeks ago and find them to be quite fantastic .

Feb 7, 2012, Geneva. Not only was I lucky enough to own a ticket to Cat Power' sold out gig - which, I will soon understand, will be the best concert I've ever been to, but I was lucky enough to witness great art, amazing woman, absolutely talented musicians, a perfect, moving music performance which gave goose bumps; ruin was a part of it, a sneak preview of Chan Marshall never depleted gift. After a two-hour show, she got a crazy standing ovation. Something she definitely deserves for life.
Cat Power is back, damn straight she's back and I'm freaking out!!!

I agree on supporting the artists, anyway at least in Italy during the summertime this song was passing on the national radio like 5 times a day. Guess the girl has a safe pension again (very well deserved). She's awesome and I'm glad she made such a hit!

This is a GREAT song to listen to while studying.
I've been obsessed twice by music, first time was Bob Marley, then years later I was distracted from the adult conversation by what my pals 'Emo' daughter was playing in her bedroom. That was 'Free' and I have the full Cat Power collection. Nice to have you back Charlyn and something of a relief :-)

The whole new album is awsome! I don't thing that this sounds like Catpower featuring Cold Play, this is an evolution. I've been Cat Power's fan since lot time ago and this didn't dissapoint me. :D
