I'd love for Third Party to go to town on this guy and give us more than 1 alternate head, a completely NEW gun that mounts on the side, and maybe wrist articulation or something. That would make this figure ROCK. I bought it just in anticipation for an upgrade kit.
In jet mode, if you fold down the purple kickstand on the gun, along with the two gray door panels on the legs, they make very effective landing gear. The way the doors line up and brace against the tread kibble makes me feel like this was probably intentional, though undocumented.

I'v cut tout the mask and detached the part under the mouth, glued the rest of the crown to Nucleon, repainted the entire figure to add details and BOOM an amazing Galvatron!
So, I never picked up the original version of this mold, and just now ended up getting the Super Megatron remold. And, gosh it is soooooo good. The hips worry me a little, and, I’m really surprised at just how much of it _wasnt_ remolded, yet still looks COMPLETELY different from the original.
I just gave up and did the helmet mod, and now it's one of my favorite TR guys, no regrets. It's that much of an improvement. You can always have other titanmasters ride the spaceship. Speaking of the spaceship if you put the landing pod on the cannon down and use the calf doors as rear landing gear, it stands level and looks pretty cool.
I ended up painting the crown details on Nucleon itself purple and just forego the crown. Head seems a little small that way, but ultimately works better while not sacrificing the other gimmicks the titanmaster could be used for.
I love the phrase "jumbly wedge of underchunk". I feel this needs to be worked into the more common vernacular. Honestly, though, I hardly use the crown gimmick, and just painted the head purple. It's not perfect, but it actually works pretty well, and actually makes it blend better when I actually *do* deploy the crown.
If the upper torso can be easily taken apart, perhaps a 3rd Party company can make a full replacement head that can be left attached and then swung inside the torso for alt modes. If they also make a replacement back spire thingie too, they can basically make an okay Galvatron into an excellent G1 Galvatron.
I keep putting this one in my "to sell" box, but haven't pulled the trigger yet. I desperately want a good head and canon attachment, because like you, I know there's a good robot body there waiting for those final touches.
I managed to fix my Galvatron without any 3rd party kits by simply taking a pair of cutters, chop off the chin part of the crown and superglue the freed crownpiece onto Nucleon's Headmaster form. Now he has full on neck poseability. Granted Nucleon can't fit into the jetmode cockpit anymore but thankfully the chest storage where the crown gimmick was is big enough for him to fit in for alternate form storage. ^_^
I think the purple folding bar on the cannon is meant to hold the back part of it in place in robot mode, the grey piece that folds over for the space cannon mode? If you have the purple bar flush with that piece, I've noticed that it locks it in place in case a part of the arm bumps it while you're moving it around (or you're hamhanded like me). I might just be spitballing, though.

The rest of the mold doesn't really need more head movement then it provides so even if it had better movement, I'm not sure it would benefit that much. Otherwise, my only real issue with the mold is the lack of hole on the side of the arm for the canon, which just seems odd to me.
For anyone interested in a 3rd party add on for this guy. Look up Fakebusker83 on Shapeways.com. He has made a cannon adapter that puts the cannon in the correct position. And TWO helmets. One being in G1 style and the other being IDW styled. I've had the kits for a few months now and they make this figure near perfect.
I love this incarnation of Galvatron.The cannon mode is flawless and the "jet mode" is okay. As for the robot mode the head issue doesnt bother me one bit. Hasbro/Takara has done a great job with this mold imho. Leagues better than that Classics tank Galvatron from 10 years ago. That one was an abomination...
Watching this from the future right after getting Kingdom Galvatron, and man, this reminds me how disappointed I was when I opened this guy back in the summer of 2016. I'm so happy that Hasbro finally made a Galvatron as good, if not better than the Energon one!
I hate the scuba mask they gave him so I used a gundam double ball post and modded it to fit into the Combiner Wars Cyclonus combiner head so its reversible. It is slightly big but its much better then the factory option on TR Galvie...imho!
Yeah Galvatron was clearly designed before the Titanmaster gimmick was badly shoehorned into this figure, I personally just cut the face mask off and glued it to the titanmaster after some sanding and painting of Nucleon to get rid of the awful unpainted gray.
"You can play pretend that it's a pistol, or you can do the right thing and JUST STOP IT." a pistol is part of the G1 toy, so why can't it be shown here. don't get me wrong a jet mode is a good idea, but why would you hate a toy gun that can transform like Megatron did in the G1 cartoon?
At least if the worst part of a headmaster toy is its head, the 3rd party fix shouldn't be too much of a hassle to put on. Owning this toy myself, the head does not bother me that much (not to say I won't replace it with something better the moment that comes along). What does bother me is the lack of other pegs to mount the cannon on in robot mode, and that there is no good titan master position for the cannon mode. If only there was a seat and maybe some sort of reticle for the titan master to aim the cannon. I still don't hate the toy. But I do really like the rest of the Titans Return toys that I own, and it is kind of disappointing to have one toy that is just okay out of a stellar lineup.

As goofy as putting the peg for the canon on the bicep is, it's Geewunny. There is also a seat in the canon for the titan master to sit in like all the weapons (biggest weapon configuration yet). It's a real shame when people let a minor (optional) aesthetic taint an entire figure for them. Galvatron really isn't that bad.
HIs ship mode reminds me of the Normandy from Mass Effect. A decent figure I guess, although I really dislike the headmaster gimmick in general especially this design. The heads are too large with the helmet on a hinge design. My Mania King suffices as my Galvatron otherwise I might go for this

This is a complaint that everyone already knew about _months_ before this review, even without pretty much every reviewer talking about the same problem with the face and tacked-on jet mode.
I believe I have said this before, and will say it again. I personally dont like this figure. Especially in the robot mode, due to the design of everything above the knee. The first cannon mode for the character in forever and the designers in my opinion screwed up.

I ended up just cutting the crown off, and gluing it to his head. It fits nicely inside the chest. Plus it gains you access to the ball jointed neck.
Thomas Alvarenga I bought the separate purple headmaster set and use that with him. Got rid of the crown and made him just a cool purple baddie.

that jet mode basically uses one chunk of parts that is attached via one pin, which is easy to remove

There are a couple of option for replacement crowns on Shapeways. I ended up getting both an IDW style crown and a G1 style crown.

Best bet to fix the head is to get either the IDW or G1 Shapeway helmets. And the arm piece to give the arm cannon the Classics 2.0 look

Look up funkbuster83 on shapeways he has replacement crowns and an arm piece that allows for more varied posing for the arm cannon.
